Question about packing lots & sims

I have to wait until tomorrow to get my copy, but I have a question..

Since the Exchange is now the Gallery, is in game the only option for saving lots and sims?
Or is there a way to access the gallery outside of the game?

I like to package them and keep a copy of the package in case of crash or re-install, etc..

when I started the game up, the sims I created in the demo were not in the game. So I copied the files from the demo to the game. The sim files are in documents/electronicarts/the sims 4 (or the sims 4 demo)/Tray I just copied all the files from the demo Tray folder to the actual game Tray folder and then my sim was in the library. So back up the Tray folder to keep your sims files, but good luck identifying which is which!

That is what I am afraid of that there won't be a way of packaging them like we did in TS2 & TS3.
