Today I watched the live play video that was just released. Whether you plan to get Sims 4 or not, it's interesting to see. The presenters did say that this is not the final version, but you'll get an idea of game play. I saw some things I liked and some I didn't. I don't buy games when they first come out, so I have no immediate plans to get Sims 4. But I'll definitely be reading what others say about the new game.

Also, SimGuruGraham says that autonomy was turned off. In these tweets, he also explains the UI settings, party options, the emotional death timing, and other things.

And because there are so many rumors and misinformation floating around, here's an FAQ that should be helpful:

EDIT: The video came out on the 19th.

You're a bit late. That live play game play video has been out for like 2 days and we've all watched it. And for many of us it has been a disappointment
Actually vesvezDat, not all of us have seen it. This was a first for me. Thank you lanlyn for bringing this up.
However, there hasn't been any mention of it on this General Discussion forum yesterday or today. Not all of us follow the Sims 4 forum. I usually don't. Just wanted to bring the info to people's attention.
SimGuruGraham said that they sped up the emotional death scene just to demonstrate. Let's hope they don't die that quickly from laughing! Yikes!
It was already stated by the devs that this and other aspects like the fire were tuned for the demo. They made sure they occurred for the sake of the demonstration. In the normal game you will have to work at it for a sim to die of emotion. They pretty much have to hit the top level of the emotion and hold it for an extended length of time. So it won't be a common occurrence. Your sim won't just keel over from being told a joke or two.
There will be those who are convinced it was staged, whether it was or not. We will only truly be able to judge this incarnation of the Sims game when we play it ourselves. I liked what I saw, for the most part. I, like some others, wish they had devoted some of it to family life, but hey, it was a couple of guys doing the walk-through. I want to know if there are any gals on the team this time?
I'm not a party animal, I've never been one. Guess I've always possessed a very old soul, even as a kid. However, it was nice to learn we no longer must schedule our parties. Gives a nice sense of spontaneity to it.
I'm praying that like the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, Sims 4 will be free of lag and/or color rendering issues.
Just like Sims 3 wasn't Sims 2, and it had its drawbacks as well as its good points, I'm looking forward to giving Sims 4 a try. If I don't really like it, I can fall back on Sims 2 & 3. And I won't purchase any EPs for Sims 4.
I'm still hoping to be wowed.

just to point out some of the women on the sims 4 team.
I liked the idea of being able to access what the community has shared while actually in game. Just find something and add it. That should eliminate fear of CC issues, right? Hope so! But I did wonder that if the TS4 Exchange gets as huge as the TS3 one is now, will opening it up in-game cause big lag problems?
Actually no. The gallery is just like the exchange, issues and all. Difference is now you can't download and scan it with custard before putting it in your game. So the gallery is actually more dangerous than the exchange is.
I suppose they were trying to make it like Steam's Workshop. But even Steam isn't set up to let you install mods while the game is actually running.
I believe I read somewhere that their reasoning was that they felt a lot of people didn't use the sims 3 exchange because of the hassle of having to go onto the site and download it into your game so they decided to streamline the process by putting the exchange in the game.
Ea is asking simmers to flag any cc on their uploads, an honor system if you will. And asking simmers who download something and find cc to do the same. You will be risking your game doing this. I would really suggest people not do this. I was hooked on the Exchange, but unfortunately, even Custard failed to find most cc.
Use at your own risk!!

Edited to add: Custard is an app, also called the Sims3PackCleaner.
