    Entry form:

    Your name: marystarbright

Lot name: Old Lego House (Because it is in the shape of a Lego)

    Link to Lot: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8219747

Description:This house was built and decorated by Princess Jools and Queen Aye. As you can see they are very unique. The house is built for party's. Dance floors, Pools, Gambling, Hottub. The house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, Kitchen and a sleeping/playroom (So that even when stuck with the grand kids the oldies can come and party). No oldies where harmed in the building of the house, But one did drown in the pool(This really happened right after I moved Jools and Aye into the house to play test it, Some lady shows up and drowns in the pool, the Grim reaper came and everything). Enjoy =^_^=

Slideshow/Image Site Link: This is a link to a thread in CC where I put other pictures for this lot. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/255/745118.page
Also there are different pictures attached to the upload in my studio.

Additional Information: (If you're including the ladies' chosen objects, please give us a rough idea where they can be found on the lot)

Princess Jools: Party Balloons in front of house, Halloween Cat on second floor, Lazy Lounger in livingroom.

Queen Aye: Delux Lux (Lamp) in her bedroom, Thanksgiving Wreath in her Bedroom, Sandwhich Board in back yard.

On a total side note: I am so excited. My nephew whose twin brother is in the Marines (He has been deployed to japan since November) has been back here in California for a week now. They have been keeping it a secret from my sister, Making her believe he is still in Japan. Later today my Nephew is going to take my sisters car and go get his brother from the base. It is a total of six hours of driving there and back. If my sister notices her car gone I have to try and keep her in the dark so that when her Son comes walking through the door she can have a very happy surprise.

Jools, that was originally supposed to be Aye's room but I'm sure she'll let you trade. *crossing fingers* All you would have to do is swap wall colors, lol!

I figured as much after I realized the other room is yellow haha. Guess Aye will be having all the freaky fun, but hey, my bed vibrates.
Jools and Ari, I have a question. Are we allowed to change the pictures in our entry? I would like to exchange the bedroom ones for something else if that's okay. I don't know What I was thinking when I included those! Thanks :XD:

Yes of course. You're free to edit your entry form as many times as you can while the contest is open.

Help! I have my entry all ready, but I've run into the dreaded upload problem where my lot says it has uploaded but doesn't show up in my Studio or on the Exchange.

If anybody knows a fix for this, I'd love to hear about it! I've chatted with EA support three times but nothing they suggest works. I've tried uploading it using 10 different names because I know sometimes that's a problem. It has no 3rd party cc or mods.

If I can't get it to upload here, aricarai and Joolster, would you accept it from Carl's The Sims 3 site? I uploaded it there to see if that would work.

Thanks - I'm so excited about this contest, and I've worked ridiculously hard on my entry.

Edit: I forgot to say, if somebody does help me get this lot uploaded, then I promise if I win any SPs I'll throw some your way!

2nd edit: Never mind, resolved! Entry below.

Cal, I Love the Freezer Bunny Bakery! He is just the cutest thing! Very clever.

Marystarbright, Holy Guacamole! Old Lego House is just an Explosion of color! The old gals should just Love it there! Rec'd

Congratulations on your nephew coming home! :D I would love to see your sister's reaction on seeing him!

Jools, thank you for letting me know about the edit. :D And don't forget, Aye can be easily bribed. I know you'll come up with someway of getting the freaky room, lol!

Cogitotoro, No SP's necessary on this please. I actually meant to leave a post here the other day explaining my HUGE problem getting my entry to upload.

Like you Cogitotoro, I tried a bunch of times to upload. It seemed to go through just fine, but didn't show up in my studio or on the exchange.

I tried changing the name (only three times) but that didn't help.

I have NEVER had any cc, so I knew it couldn't be that. I posted on my wall and a lovely friend sent me the link to a lottery by Idontrcall. Here's the link:

    http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/712579.page

After reading through most of it I came across this item from the Hewnsman Set which I had used in my build:

    Screenshot2014-05-16at42944PM_zpscdcb0ccf.png

I simply replaced it with a different plant and tried to upload. It went through without a hitch. I didn't even have to change the name. I kept the original one cause that's the one I liked the best.

I have NEVER had any problem uploading before and was very surprised to find out that it could be due to Store Content. Very disappointing...

I know that the items from the Tiki Set have caused a lot of simmers trouble too. I have used some items from that set before without any trouble. So who knows?

Another friend mentioned that he has had trouble with items from Lucky Palms, Sunlit Tides and Hidden Springs, so maybe you could see if you have anything from those.

I hope you find the culprit and get your entry uploaded. Good Luck! And keep us posted. :D

I just want to start by saying that I had a ridiculous amount of fun with this contest!

With this entry, I tried to capture what, to me, are the hallmarks of tacky and gaudy:
the people doing the decorating have to
believe that it looks great and all goes together wonderfully
when combined with lots of money, it often involves trying to look posh and elegant but overdoing
there's no such thing as "less is more" - MORE is more

    On to the entry!

    Your name: Cogitotoro
Lot name: Casa de las Reinas
    Link to Lot: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8220803

Description: Casa de las Reinas - or "the Queens' House" - is the home of Queen Aye and Princess Jools (the Reinas). These two had a huge wad of cash to spend, thanks to the timely demise of their rich geezer husbands, and put their heads together to design the perfect crib for their golden years. They don't care what anyone else thinks - they think it's perfect! They worked together to design every aspect of the house. The house takes up most of the lot because, well, the Reinas are not what you'd call "outdoorsy." There's a two story entrance atrium with lots and lots of black, white, and pink marble and gold chandeliers and framed paintings. The living room houses their massive collection of knicknacks, as well as having a bar area, a party area with dance floor, and a unique sunken conversation pit. There's a very fancy dining room with bar, buffet, and plenty of animal prints; a half bath; and a spectacularly decorated big kitchen to round out the first floor. Each Reina has a big bedroom suite on the second floor, featuring their favorite colors and special items. Their bathrooms are especially worth a look! The basement houses a den and game room, with yet another bar, and a bee-utiful half bath. The back yard is taken up by a custom pool, hot tub, and two decorative, um, displays designed by the Reinas.

Pictures: (5 maximum in the post) (It's actually causing me pain to choose only 5 views of this house. It has 11 rooms! And a back yard! Please view the slideshow to see the rest - I've made it fun to view and read!)

This is the front view of the spectacular "Casa de las Reinas" (Queens' House).
    screenshot_original.jpg
    Princess Jools' bedroom:
    screenshot_original.jpg
    Queen Aye's bedroom:
    screenshot_original.jpg
    Basement half bathroom:
    screenshot_original.jpg
Part of Queen Aye's bathroom (decorative sombrero collection):
    screenshot_original.jpg

Slideshow/Image Site Links: These two are the same slideshow -This one has bigger pictures
This one is here on the sims3.

    Additional Information:
The ladies' objects are in their bedrooms (Queen Aye's lamps are embedded in pumpkin stacks).
There are many pink flamingos (one in every room), but for an easy 20, there are 12 in the pink tulip bed, 4 around and on the hot tub, and 4 on the upstairs landing.

Well, I haven't checked this thread out for a few days and now my eyes are watering from laughing so much. How much tacky and gaudy can one person take! I think everyone has done an amazing job of clashing colors and mish-mashing styles! If Prince Jools and Queen Aye can't find a suitable house from these, er..., uhmmm, wonderful choices, it is just not out there! Great job everyone.

ladydarkmoon24 - Yellow and lime green everywhere! I don't think there is one more thing you could fit in the house, you covered everything!

Snowmoon - Trailer park is a brilliant idea and then to add the tackiness that the ladies want makes it even better. I also love the way the colors look against the brown of Castaway Cove.

Noirran - I really like the backyard party area and I can just picture the ladies singing their hearts out with the karaoke.

Peachy1102 - Love the maze in the yard, I hope one of the grannies doesn't lose her way and get stuck.

OceanRose56 - Great house! I love the lights over the dance floor, reminds me of disco lights.

TanyaElisabeth - Nice choice of patterns for the ladies bedroom, I can see them being into animal patterns!

Muddypaws4167 - Really like the layout of the house and love the leaf shaped pool. Cool colors on the cars!

WrathofCath - OMG! Is there a color you didn't use  WOW!

marystarbright - Lego house looks like a ton of fun, love the second and third floors!

Cogitotoro - Holy sombreros! Another explosion of color and gaudy!

By the way, where do those giant roses come from?

I've been so focused on my build that I haven't commented on all the great builds on this thread. Now I can get caught up on that this weekend.

@rosemow, you are such a sweetie. I love how you look so carefully at everybody's pictures to notice the details and what they've actually done. You even noticed Queen Aye's milk jug collection! There's a closeup of them on the slideshow, sorry you can't see those  . They look so tacky they crack me up.

@WrathofCath, thanks! And I'm glad you picked up on the gold - I know it's subtle. When I looked at tacky gaudy houses on the Web getting ready for this contest, there was sooo much gold everywhere: picture frames, chandeliers, everything. I wanted to channel that kind of tacky gaudiness. The dining room is especially golden too! Thanks for the rec.

Thanks for noticing the sombreros. I had a lot of fun making a ton of different ones, all tacky and gaudy. I've seen ones just like that, only even more so, in Mexico.

The giant roses are from the Showtime EP. They're called "The Anyothername Rose". You don't realize how huge they're going to be until you put them on the wall! I thought about putting one in each room, but Queen Aye's special items made me go with an autumn harvest stand theme for her room.

Free rein to go bonkers in CAS with hideous patterns, colours I wouldn't normally touch with a bargepole and objects so ugly my mind normally blanks them out of the catalogue when I'm in build/buy mode. Oh yes!

All right! I've finally had time to really look through all the entries so far. There's an awful lot of awesomeness on this thread   .

@OceanRose56, the thing I like best about Tacky Abode is the zebra rug paired with matching pink paisley furniture. Classic tacky!

@Noirran, Tacky Gaudy House really captures a certain kind of Florida tacky. The "Florida room" is a great idea - of course it's carpeted  . Makes me want to use greenhouse windows the way you did there, and the beady-screen things along the staircase look awesome. The purple cabinets are hilarious too!

@Kgaff, Splendiferous Abode has some wonderful touches. A chandelier over the patio! The royal canopy over the toilet! That's good tacky.

@TanyaElisabeth, I really like how the rooms and areas of Tacky Party House have color themes with creative use of recolored patterns. It's overpowering in the best possible way for these purposes! The exterior of the house is just... dazzling! Hope you end up with a non-cc version for the contest if possible.

@Muddypaws4167, your use of the ladies' favorite colors makes the exterior of Over The Top Tacky House especially wonderfully tacky and gaudy. Love the use and recolor of the heart bed!

@Peachy1102, it's hard to choose, but I think my favorite tacky gaudy thing in All thing bright & colourful is that floral living room rug. Hilarious. And the phone booth shower is so awesome! Lots of good tacky in your build, and so much work recoloring!

@ladydarkmoon24, wow, your use of color in Grannies Play Ground is amazing - especially their favorite colors. Tons of work involved! I love the idea of a fountain of youth for them, and the basement pool (with swim-up bar and disco lights, of course) is great for these two as well. I think your "grannies" are more active than my "Reinas," but in a combination of our builds they'd sit back drinking "juice" and watching the pretty boys climbing and bowling and stuff!

@Snowmoon, the idea of Castaway Cove Trailer Park is great! They're supposed to be loaded, so I picture this as their "snowbird" residence during the winter. My connection is too slow to easily look at all 132 pictures in your slideshow, but I dipped in and it looks maximally gaudy. Lots of creative use of objects. All the recolors and use of different patterns, like in the pool, must have taken a ton of time!

@WrathofCath, "There Goes the Neighborhood" is a great name for this contest. :D The idea of a badly-done addition on top is brilliant - just the kind of thing someone tacky might do (and it's amazing how close you came to the original!). You share my love for gaudy gold as a tacky theme, and your use of it is fantastic. The architecture and landscaping are tight and perfect, and your color choices are wonderfully gaudy. I'm not sure I saw your whole build - the slide show got to 24/49 and wouldn't go any farther, but what I saw was awesome. I think the yard might be my favorite thing.

@marystarbright, Old Lego House is so crazy! I've never seen anything like those top two stories! The half-and-half living room is a funny idea. The house is so full of things to do and activities, all in definitely gaudy colors. Very creative.

@ErnesaT, I love hearing that your house shares a vibe with mine. I did get great inspiration from some photos I tracked down online (see below), so if you found some of the same ones and are using them we might end up with some similarities! Love what I've seen of your WIP so far.
