Been There, Done That Challenge

The Sims 4 is almost there. Many of you will play it, others prefer to wait still.
I don’t know yet, but I realised that there is still lots of things I didn’t even do on The Sims 3.
So, I’ve got the idea, actually more like a goal, to play this one completely, to see everything this game has to offer, before moving ahead. This inspired me to open this challenge!

WHAT’S ABOUT?

This challenge is about playing, doing everything we can do in this game: all opportunities, all careers, playing all traits, visiting all community lots, playing with all toys, playing all interactions and so on.

I don’t know myself everything we can do in this game. Why? I tend to create Sims with similar traits (my favorite ones), I almost never do the (for me) boring careers, and so forth...

This challenge is the opportunity to play it all!
Would you like to join me?

I'm still not sure if this will really work well. But this is my goal. If you feel like, please feel free to join me! :D

HOW DO I DO IT?

You may have seen that this challenge was posted weeks ago. Since then I’ve been researching and adapting the rules. Suddenly, it was clear to me that the game is way too big to set to many rules.
So I decided to do as follows:
We first create a Sim (can be in CAS or you can just take any pre-made).
Then we crossbreed our Sim with a Sim with a different Life State. The kid, we crossbreed again with another Life State until we have all of them. Our last Sim, the result of all Life States, will be last Sim of this Legacy.

PHASE ONE: Creating a Sim
We start by creating a Sim in CAS (or using a pre-made Sim), our Sim-Founder (gender and race are your choice)

STEP TWO: Crossbreeding
We start playing and breed our Sim with a different race (or Life States). The result (the child) will crossbreed with a different race, and so on, until we have our last Sim, which is a result of all races we have in game.

Note:
At this phase, we start also "collecting" our achievements. Everything we do here, our final Sim, the Omnipotent one, won't have to go through again (he can, but he doesn't have to). During this phase, we can use many traits we don't want our "Last Sim" to have.

Life Time Wishes & Carees:
There are, I think 86 different LTW and, unfortunately, once fulfilled, a LTW cannot be changed anymore.
Here thought on two ways to get them done:

1. Combining this challenge with another (as long as it won't break the rules of either challenge. I'm combining with "Going Solo, by Vuneca", in which we go through all LTWs.
2. Using the other famili members LTWs (parents, siblings, etc).

Nevertheless, no matter what you choose to do, this may be quite a long phase, since there are a few races until we get to the final one. They are:

List of Life States:
(as they were released)

1. Human (Base Game)
2. Ghost(Base Game and as CAS in Supernatural)
3. Mummy (WA)
4. Vampire (first in LN and as CAS in Supernatural)
5. Imaginary Friend (Générations)
6. Genie (Showtime and as CAS in Supernatural)
7. Fairies (Supernatural)
8. Werewolf (Supernatural)
9. Witch (Supernatural)
10. Alien (Seasons)
11. PlantSim (University Life)
12. Mermaid (Island Paradise)
13. Plumbots (Into the Future)

Source: Carl's Sims 3 Guide - The Sims 3: Occult Type List
Notes:
1. I’m not sure if it’s possible to breed with Life States Mummy and SimBot. If not, then your Sim needs to temporary become a Mummy and create a SimBot and a Plumbot.
2. I didn't mention Toad Sim and Zombie because they're temporary states.

STEP THREE: The Omnipotent
Here we have our Sims ready, the outcome of all races we have in our game. This is the one who will walk the final path!
I call him Omnipotent, because he carries the blood of all races. He can what no other can. This last Sim has the power of all other races withim.
This last Sim will finish what the others before him couldn’t.

ACHIEVEMENT LIST/CONTROL:

Since there’s a very long way to go, you may want to write an achievement list. I'll do it myself, it's a good way to keep in mind what we’ve already done and what’s missing.

You may open a separate thread and write it in there.

RULES

Now, the most important point in this challenge is that we PLAY everything WE CAN!!! So, if we can do it all with one Sim, wonderful! If we cannot, or find it just too much, then we ADAPT!!

Nevertheless, there are a few things which are allowed and others not and the goals:

ALLOWED
- More than one child, but only one will carry the heirdom.
- To start with any Life State (doesn't have to be human).
- Roommates: allowed
- Ok to play other households but, since it’s a very long path, we should focus on our Sim.
- Ok to age up your Sim
- Ok to change traits, as long as it makes sense. It must fit the story.
Ex: Your Sim has the trait “love to swim”. After he almost drowned, he got the trait “fear of water”.
- Ok to use Mod to help moving to a different city (in case you don’t have the EP that allows it)
- Editing in CAS (as many time as you want, if you don’t like blue alien, for example, you may change skin color)
- Cheats: ok for building (see also Not Allowed)
- Mods: ok to use as long as they’re used to make your game run better (see also Not Allowed).
- Reviving your Sim: allowed but ONLY with the regular ways in game (other Sim, ambrosia, Philosopher’s Stone, Lab, Genie Wish, etc) – no Mod/Cheats to revive.
- Aging up your Sim: Ok with the birthday cake - no Mod/Cheats to age up.
- Ok to start in any city, also to move to another city and then back.
- Ok to accept gifts from a friend. If you're Lucky to get money or something valuable, that's great! :D
- Ok to combine this challenge with another one, as long as you tell us and as long as it won't break the rules of this challenge.

Note: If your Sim dies during a game you didn’t save yet, you may exit game without saving.

- Setting the LifeSpan: There’s no rules for this. I’ll set it on epic, specially for the last Sim of this legacy, the Omnipotent. But this is up to you.

NOT ALLOWED
- No cheats for reviving your Sim
- No cheats to help achieving/mastering anything (careers, skills)
- No cheats for money/family funds.
- No cheats for helping with VISA
- No cheats for helping with happiness, friendships, etc.
- No cheats changing life state (playing with genetics)

For example:
- If your SIM cannot be a Simbot, then he/she must create one.

How to create a Mummy Sim

A Mummy Sim can only be created once you have the “vacation” expansion installed. To add a Mummy Sim to your household, you need to do the following:
•Travel to Egypt and search all areas over there for archeological dig sites. They look like spots where broken pots and bottles stick half out of the ground.
•The goal of the archeological digging is to find the 5 different “canopic jars”. Together they are a complete set and that is what you need to collect.
•You also need to collect a complete sarcophagus by finding all of the different parts. There are 3 different sarcophagi available, but just one complete set is enough.
•Back at home, use/place the canopic jar set within the complete sarcophagus and a mummy will come out and join your household.

You can also change one of the Sims in your household into a mummy by having it sleep in a sarcophagus for more than 16 hours. The advantage of a Mummy is that it never needs to go to the toilet and it lives longer than a normal Sim. The disadvantage is that a Mummy moves quite slow and it cannot have any children. Also, when it catches on fire, it will die instantly.

How to create a plant Sim

The plant Sim will only be available once you have installed the “University life” expansion pack. There are 2 ways to get a plant Sim:
•Once you are in the university, you can become a test subject within the Science building on the university grounds. When doing this, there is a 20% chance that your Sim gets infected with the “botanica” virus (moodlet). The antidote for this virus is available for 3000 Simoleons at the Science Building as well, but should you not use it and the moodlet has disappeared, your sim will turn into a plant Sim.
•It is also possible to grow a plant baby Sim. When two plant Sims have a child, it will not be a plant Sim baby as the gen is a virus type gen. You will have to “grow” a plant baby Sim instead.
•Purchase the Science machine from buy mode.
•Find some rare seeds within the city
•Work with the Science machine until you have enough of the science skill to use the “genetic experiment” with this machine. Use this on the rare seeds until you obtain the Forbidden fruit.
•Plant the Forbidden fruit seed (indoors) in a planter pot. There is a 50% chance that a plant baby Sim will grow from the fruit after 3 to 4 days. Remember to pick the fruit as soon as you can, as it will start rotting within a few hours after it is ripe for picking.

F.A.Q.

1. Life Time Wish question: How can we choose another LTW, after we've completed one LTW?

Answer: Unfortunately, as far as I know, this isn't possible. There are 81 Life Time Wishes in game but one Sims can only get the lifetime reward by fulfilling one single LTW. So far I didn't find any Mod able to change this.
Here we'll have to adapt. We can instead master all careers.

2. What do I do if I don't have all Expansions or Worlds?
Answer: It doesn't matter. You play what you have. Your Chosen One walk the path of your game, therefore whatever do you have will good enough.

3. Which age span should we use?
Answer: This is up to you.
During the second phase, I don't think we'll need a long life but, once we have the final breed, the Chosen One (phase three), then we'll need lots of time. I'm going to use epic, with all bars to the right, as Minx explained. If I see that my Sims achieved everything I wanted, then I buy her a birthday cake
But, since reviving with the help of another Sim is allowed, it doesn't really matter (that's why I didn't list in the rules)

Question: What do you do if your Sim doesn't get an IF? It's not a 100% chance that they'll get one. There is a high chance, but it's not guaranteed.

Rubble - clearing rubble away in WA, I believe that is teen or older, you may want to split this section into child and teen since there are things that teens can do that kids can't. Snake charming is also from WA and is probably also teen or older.

Thank you, Seera1024! I'm still working on it. I did some research and tried to split into the different cathegories (newborn, toddler, child, teen, adult, elderly), but I still didn't find a site with a clear separation between cathegories.

I also realised I forgot to include TEENS
I must stop now but will correct this tomorrow.

PS: What's IF? :?

I have several IFs for download. Problem is, I think some of them have cc with them. :(

This is a great idea Eliroc! Definitely a different way to play. Going to save this link and see about starting it. You know me, it takes forever for me to get anywhere. :?

Here my first update. I chose Sunset Valley for starting my story:
Addhya is the Sim-Founder. Her important role in the story is to breed with a different race than her own. So which traits, LTW or whatever she has or does, doesn't matter.

My Story: Supreme
Addhya commited serious crimes and is found guilty by the Supreme Court.
Her sentence: she's to be exiled.
Where: back in time.
For how long: forever.
Link to Story:SimsFiction

Chapter 1: Exiled

“Here we are. Your house is right behind you. The rent for the first month is already paid. After that, you’re on your own.”

“Rent?? Do I have to pay rent??”

Without reacting to Addhya’s protest, Anton continues, ”We also equipped the house with everything you need for your new beginning. You’ll have to learn how to use these primitive appliances, but there are some manuals in form of paper books available.
1.jpg

“Here you also have everything you need about this time on Sim-Earth, please read it carefully.”

“Which time is that?”

“This question is irrelevant. As I said, you’ll have all information you need in here and in the orb we placed on the table. You’ll have one single day to study. After that, both the orb and the tablet will be taken from you, as they represent a danger to this era.

And remember, the orb was not invented yet, therefore the Sims won’t understand your skin color, not your clothes. You MUST change your appearance as soon as I’m gone. The protection shield will be deactivated shortly after my departure. After that, they’ll be able to see you.”
2.jpg

“Is the transceiver activated, in case I have difficulties? Can I at least communicate with my family?

“You’re not on Holiday, Addhya, this is your prison! You’re very lucky that Malgon was able to convince the Supreme Court to send you back in time for your exile. Their first option was Tyllah. After all you’ve done to them, you wouldn’t last a day."4.jpg

“How can I live without my family? I don’t know if I’m able to…”5.jpg

“I recommend you take this chance to start over. Create a new family, this will not only help you adapt but for sure will make your exile feels better.”
How can I ever condemn my children to this primitive life, without being ever able to meet their grandparents? What kind education can this place offer?”
7.jpg

“I’m sorry for you, Addhya, you know I am your friend, but there’s nothing I can do about that. You’re paying for the crimes you commited yourself."
8.jpg

“Remember, this is your only chance. Take advantage of it and live a low-profile life. You’re being observed 24 hours a day. If you try to change the future in any way, your life will be immediately exterminated.
My time is up, I must return. Good bye, Addhya. Take care of yourself!”
10.jpg

After Anton leaves…

“Gosh what do I do now?”
11.jpg

“There must be a way to go back home… I must find a way to get this gate to work again!”12.jpg

But suddenly the portal disappears… and, with it, all hopes to escape.13.jpg

Depressed, Addhya enters the house she’ll have to call home from now on. After looking around, she gets lost in her thoughts, as if trying to find a way to escape her fate.
14.jpg

Suddenly she remembers that the shield will cease to work soon and she must work on her new appearance.
She opens the newspaper, trying to find pictures of people at that time, but other than news and a few images of places, there’s nothing.
15.jpg

Frustrated, she closes the paper and starts thinking on what to do…
16.jpg

When she realises she still has the orb.
17.jpg

“Everything I need is in here, right? Well… show me how shall I look like in this primitive world!”
18.jpg

“Ahhh much better!
So… natural, pale skins as I see… how boring! And this hair, ugh!”
(speaking to the orb) “How many times can I change my new appearance?”
(Orb answering) “Indefinitely until you save. After saved, your new appearance becomes attached to you and changes are no longer possible.”
19.jpg

“Hmmm, this one looks much better…”
20.jpg

“Orb, give me something similar to this picture: short hair, pale skin, discrete make-up, one discrete outfit for each occasion.”
21.jpg

“Oh well… looks like I’ll have to get used to it! Orb, save appearance!”
screenshot-6.jpg

“Omg, they don’t even know about life in other planets. How can I ever live in such a primitive time!?”
screenshot-7.jpg

Update: Supreme

I decided to write down this Log Book for my future generations. I know now that I will build a family again and they have the right to know where they come from.

I was brought back in time due to several crimes I commited against a planet called Tyllah, a very hostile planet in our time. I’m ashamed to say that, as an act of vengeance, after a group of Tyllahians killed my father, I almost destroyed one whole city of the planet. I was able to destroy half of it when I got caught by our own Secret Intelligence Service, who had been observing me for a while.

After a long judgement period, I was lucky enough to “only” be brought back in time. Their first option was delivering me to the Tyllahians. If they’d done that, I’ll be dead by now.

But this doesn’t make my life any easier. I’ll never be able to go back home, nor to see my family again, and I miss my mother and my sister so much. They are everything to me and the idea of never seeing them again kills me.

Log One
I’ve been for 3 days now. Although I started my research as quickly as I could, both the pad and the orb disappeared long before I could collect enough information about the culture. (read more...)

Interesting challenge and sounds like something I would like to do. I loved the story, you started off with a very nice beginning. I did notice something, some of the activities are specific to a trait. For example only Evil sims can steal candy from a baby, so unless the sims has the evil trait we could not do that.

One thing I thought you might want to add for toddlers is to ride a spring rider and they can learn charisma from the mirror in the playpen, no more rabbithead anymore.

For children they could also sleep in a treehouse and you could add make and sleep in igloo, go ice skating, have snowball fight, make snow angels and water balloon fight.

One more question, age span? Which one should we use?

Looks like a very nice challenge! I wish I had more time to play two challenges right now!

By the looks of it, I would do epic with all sliders to the extreme right once you have the final breed that'll do the challenge proper. You can age up your Sim at any time afterall and the time you get on extreme-epic is way more than you'll ever need.

I was thinking epic too which would also help with my 100 baby challenge too. I wish we could set different age span's for each save file.

Thank you sooo much for contributing! Every single feedback I get is very important for this is my first challenge.
The rules are still very flexible, let's say, I'm testing them, checking if they're realistic. Otherwise I'll change.
For example, my idea is to go on with one Sim, the Chose One, a result of all races. But if we see that this is either impossible or too crazy difficult, than I still can adapt.

Evil interactions:
Good point. Indeed some interactions need an evil trait. In this case, it's your choice if you want that SOMEONE ELSE of stealing a candy from YOUR toddler Sim or if YOUR Sim steals a candy from a toddler.

Traits: The idea is that we play all traits also. Actually with the Chosen One. In this case, in our story, we'll give a reason why someone suddenly (for example) gets fear of swiming and we turn the story in a way that he/she overcomes that fear.

you might want to add for toddlers is to ride a spring rider: Great, thanks, I'll add and all other suggestions. It's LOTS of stuff. I spent a while researching but I'm far from finishing.

rabbithead: I was wondering what this rabbithead was. I saw this in one site. Since I almost never play with toddlers/children, I thought this was something I didn't see yet.

age span: Here we'll most probably either have to make our Sim immortal of use the cheat in order to go back with his age. I'll go for epic, that's for sure, and will see if I manage to finish.
One of the Life State is a vampire. I don't know for how far their immortality last (since our Sim will be the result of all Life States).
Otherwise, reviving with the help of another Sim is allowed.

Oh, I see now that I actually didn't answer your question about if your Sim doesn't get an IF. I'm sorry.
Good point! I didn't know there was a chance NOT to get an IF, so far I always got one.
But, if it happens, then we skip this experience to his child. This would be my idea. If you have another idea, please feel free to say. As I said, since this Challenge is still in the "experimental phase", we still can adapt the rules.

Children / Teens interactions: I saw this in the Carl's The Sims 3 Guide. But I'm having difficulties in finding a clear separation between children and teens interactions. My idea is to go correcting the list as we find out.

I just thought of something I will most likely add for my own but wanted to mention in case anyone else thinks this is a good idea.

The challenge is to experience everything in game for the chosen one, now I spent a lot of money on venues so I will most likely include must go gambling at the casino, see a movie at the plumbob cinema, and basically use all the venues I have. I might include all premium content items also.

Wow, I didn't know that!! This is GREAT!
I started my story in Sunset Valley, what I think it was a small mistake... almost no occult sims here, just saw a fairy, which I can't find anymore... :-o
I hope I do find him, cause I'd like to try what you said!
