    As you all know, Midnight Hollow is being released on September 26th. I know many are waiting in anticipation for this release. Sooooooo....... I find myself drawn to and fascinated by the mysterious and gothic aspect of this town.

    I know very little about Goths or gothic things but am extremely fascinated. I would like to solicit your help in creating a town. I usually do not like EA builds so it stands to reason I'll not like these. I am, however, interested in your builds and sims.

    A little while ago, SeriphinaFyie ran a contest for sims, houses and the sims' stories. I really enjoyed that contest and figured, it would work for Midnight Hollow. Kudos to Seri for such a great contest concept.

    As mentioned this will be a 3 part contest:
    1. house or dwelling to fit in MH;
    2. community lots; and
    3. Sims

    All builds must fit in with the "gothic" theme of the world. The categories are: steampunk, victorian/gothic, supernatural and other (for the circusy folk).

    Each category will have 3 winners. You may enter up to 2 times per category.

    You can use whatever you wish from the store and any EP/SP except items from DV and Movie Stuff because I don't own them.

    Don't be afraid of using color or clutter. Have fun.

    Please read the rules carefully and plan your time wisely. If you sign up for Part 1, YOU MUST sign up for Part 2.

    PART 1 - HOUSES/DWELLINGS:


    1. Must be new builds and cannot have been used in another contest.

    2. You must choose a theme for your build: steampunk, victorian/goth supernatural or other (that fits with MH).

    3. Nothing uploaded before September 23rd will be accepted.

    4. House/dwelling must fit in MH and be consistent with your theme.

    5. All residences must have the following:

    - a living room
    - a dining room
    - a kitchen with at least one counter, stove, fridge and trash receptical
    - at least 2 bedrooms
    - a bathroom with toilet, tub/shower, sink, and mirror
    - extra points will be given extra rooms such as a basement, music room, gym, art room, extra bedroom, etc.
    - all appliances must be upgraded to "unbreakable"

    6. Landscaping must fit the surrounding area and theme of your build.

    7. PLEASE NAME YOUR HOUSE WHEN UPLOADING. Points will be deducted if it says "Lot Name".

    8. Pictures are necessary. Please post 5 pics --- front, back, and 3 others. If you have more pics, post the 5 hear and provide a link to the rest.

    9. LOT SIZE: Please do not make any larger than 40 x 40. I love to see the house.

    PART 2 - SIMS:


    1. Can be either your own creation or one of EA's pre-mades in CAS.

    2. Can be a single sim, a couple, a group or a family.

    3. Sims must have traits compatible with living in a mysteriously supernatural world.

    4. Sims dress must fit the theme of their surroundings and home.

    5. Sims must have a biography on the upload.

    6. Sims must have a story that is linked in the thread. Please create a different thread for the story. (I want to know how your sim(s) ended up in MH and what their hopes and dreams are for life in that town.)

    7. Please include 3 pics of your sim in this thread.

    8. The story thread should consist of: pics of your sim, the house and must illustrate your story.

      1. Q: Is the deadline 1st oct is for only first part or all three parts?

      A: The deadline is November 1st for all parts.



      2. Q: And is the house a starter for your sim or limitless budget?
      A: There is no budget and it does not have to be a starter.


      3. Q: We don't need to have MH, right?
      A: No, you don't need to have MH. There is plenty in-game already to create a
      house or community lot that will fit MH.

      4. Q: I have a Q about Phase 3... It says put in a cash register, but what if you
      don't own Midnight Hollow?
      A: Any register we already have will work. Points will not be deducted for not
      having the MH register.

      5. Q: Where are the Entry Forms?
      A: Silly me. I forgot them. :oops: They are now posted on Page 1, second post.
      Each form is in the section for their Phase.

      6. Q: Do we upload parts 1, 2 and 3 in the same post? Or do we, say, put up our
      entry for part 1, and later put one up for part 2, and finally finish with
      part 3?
      A: The can be separate entries. Just complete the Entry Form for each part.

      7. Q: In regards to making sure everything in the house/community lot is
      unbreakable, how do we do that? Do we quickly move a handy sim in and just
      get them to upgrade it before evicting them and putting the lot up on the
      exchange?
      A: Yes. Move in a sim with high handiness skill to upgrade everything and then
      kick them out. :lol:

      8. Q: When you mention not to use items from DV, what is DV? Is it Dragon
      Valley?
      A: Yes, "DV" is Dragon Valley.

      9. Q: If you enter Phase one, you do have to enter Phase two BUT you do not have
      to enter Phase three?
      A: Yes. This is correct. I would like Parts 1 and 2 to go together. I really
      would like to see the sims that live in these houses and.

      10. Q: If you enter Phase three, you do not have to enter the others?
      A: No. You do not have to enter the other parts.

      11. Q: Quick question - lot size? Didn't see anything about it so can we choose
      any size?
      A: Any lot size is good. I would prefer nothing larger than 40x40 for the
      houses and 50 x 50 for the community lots.

      12. Q: Our Sim has to be uploaded to the Exchange right?
      A: Yes. I want them for my town. :D

      13. Q: I just created a sim a couple of days ago for another contest who is
      perfect for this one too! May I enter her or I have to create a new Sim?
      A: No. You can use a pre-made sim, as long as the sim is either your
      own creation or an EA-premade.

      14. Q: Do they have to be working registers or is the deco one ok?
      A: The deco one is ok. I can replace it later, if I choose to make changes.

      15. Q: What about community lots for which registers aren't necessarily logical?
      Like beaches, graveyards, fishing spots, gardens, pools, certain
      hangouts... basically "non-shop" type lots? Must ANY lot have a register
      or only if it's a "store/shop"? Or do you want only "store/shop" type lots?

      A: Non-shop lots do not need a register. However, for beaches, gardens, pools,
      fishing spots, etc. you could place a food vendor, if you have seasons.
      Or, they could have things for sale .... for example, if you have a fishing
      spot, there could be a little area that would sell baskets, fish decor, etc.

      16. Q: When you say supernatural, would you prefer kind of gothic, dark looking
      supernatural like vampires and witches, with a build to go with it? Or
      could I do a genie type lot with stuff from the Cirque and Drifters Desire
      sets? Can it be super colourful and kinda hippieish or would you prefer a
      more gothic, steam punk, dark kinda vibe?

      A: As long as it fits the world, I'm fine with it. All towns need a
      few "colorful" people who don't quite fit the bill. :lol:

      I'll join! :D I already have definite plans for a few lots I'm making for MH if I get the world, so I'll definitely build them according to the rules so they can be entered in! Even if I don't get MH I'll make the lots for Halloween--we don't need to have MH, right?

      I can't guarantee that I'll be able to enter this, but I am going to do my best to get some inspiration (and start managing my time better :lol: ) so that I can hopefully have something up for you since I really want to enter this contest. You can definitely count me as interested :mrgreen:
