I can't create a new family!

I have the pets expansion pack as well as a couple others. I've noticed a problem that seems to happen whenever I try to start a new family. I create a new family and if I do not make any pets, it saves and I can move them into a home and start playing with them just fine. But whenever I make a family with pets, I click accept and when it reaches the "family portrait" or whatever it is where you choose relationships between the members of your family and such, it just gets stuck saying "processing" and will never load the new family. This only happens when I try to make pets. I've tried waiting hours for it to see if it will finally load, but no luck. Any help here?

many times problems with Pets is because of the graphic card, can you post specs,
to post hit windows key + R enter dxdiag run report hit save all info and notepad doc will open copy/paste the whole long report here, thanks!
