PLEASE HELP Saved files gone?

I don't know if I've done it right but I backed up my saved files in nearly every way possible but everytime I load up the game, none of my saved games are there. There's only the option to start out completely. All my saved games are in the folder, nothing ends with .bad, so what do I do? I'm almost to the point of tears...I don't want to lose my sims and houses and progress that I spent hours on.
