Unable to place Dance Studio

I just purchased the Dance Studio and I am unable to place it. It says that it requires a 40X40 lot and the type should be gym. I have the 40x40 lot and I changed it to gym but when I attempt to place it, the lot disappears which means it cannot be placed there.

Any suggestions? I really want the dance studio.

try to bulldoze it, probably the lot is not empty.

I usually build a small house on the lot ( just the square with autoroof )
Check the buydebug of the lot as well for spawners. Make sure to exit testingcheats and all after this check.

Then I return to edit town and bulldoze the lot.

I do this before every build ever since the seasons-extrafloor-crash.

Maybe this is of help for this problem as well.

Edit:
I build something small because sometimes the lot is already empty. Then you destroy the lot itself. I sometimes can not replace the lots, cannot get them to align to roads.

Have you tried changing the lot type to 'no visitors allowed'? It should switch back to gym once you've placed the build. This works for dorms, so perhaps it will for other lot types too. Good luck!

Still has not worked. I have not been able to place it in any town.
