This is what I did with the skylights. I built a houseboat. Sand in the Toes is a spacious houseboat consisting of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open plan living, kitchen/diner and the uppper deck has a barbecue area. I hope you guys would like my build. Here are some pics:
I tried to turn the venue into a resort but couldn't do it, so I started from scratch but based a resort on the venue (a little). It didn't turn out too well, but I had fun building it and I'm sure my simmies will be happy enough there.

What do you mean it didn't turn out too well? That looks fantastic!
elanorbreton, I agree with SimGuruCopeland, I love it! Very visually striking. Seriously! You should believe us. Have you uploaded it? link?
Yanti68, your boat is really lovely! so spacious and gentle on the eye. It looks very liveable.
EmpressPamela, I love the realism of your houseboat and how you built from reality. I reworked a fair amount of Aurora Sky with a lot of angular architecture and have not put any house boats in it. I would make this the first if you finished it!
I just finished a built for a great competition InvisibleLyndz is hosting and I FINALLY built myself a ballet studio! I had to throw in some martial arts stuff of course. And I made a lighthouse with the top skylight piece. I'm really happy with it. It is the first big residential build I've done in a while and I think I'm going to take a break from building and live in it for a bit, and finally get to have my sims dance around Now to follow all of your leads and build a houseboat for them as a second home...
Here are a couple of pics and some links, especially if anyone wants to enter the contest (please enter!), the deadline is August 8th and you could totally use the Skylight kit. It just has to be a house on a stilted/over water foundation, built for sims with specific traits/LTWs:

I've just had a quick look through this and there are some awesome builds.
Unfortunately my casino crashed and burned. I found the basement was a mistake. I wanted to place it on an island in the ocean. The only way I could successfully put it in the ocean was if it was touching an existing island.
I rebuilt it from scratch and the new version is now on the exchange.
Of course, I only initially wanted to put the casino version up so that is what I did. Then for some reason I decided to put a resort tower on top of it. So I did that too and it is also on the Exchange now.
The resort tower on the roof idea isn't entirely successful as the tower develops a basement/foundation or something when you close the game and when it is reopened this thing dangles down and obliterates the top floor (or top two floors) of the casino building.
I found the work around is, when you first open the game, go into Edit Town and Build Buy on the Casino/Resort then use the hand to grab the resort tower and then put it back where it was. It seems to stay put without any further issues with this thing intruding into floors below it until you next exit the game and reload it.
I can't put the resort towers in the basement as getting rid of basements was the whole reason for rebuilding it in the first place.
I also changed the shape of the casino building to make it a bit more interesting.
This is what happens to it when there is a basement and I put it on a lot I have added to the ocean. This doesn't happen on land, or if part of the lot is touching an existing island.
That is why I rebuilt it so I could have a building that doesn't do that.
I didn't use any terrain paint on it so that it will take on the terrain of wherever you place it.
When I had it in Sunlit Tides there was grass all around it.
NOTE: The Exchange Link is no longer broken. This applies to everything in My Studio. Big thank you to whoever fixed it. I see people have already started downloading and recc'ing it again today.
The Resort version has mooring posts and a little beach at the rear corner so Sims can arrive that way too.
Here is a shot of it at night in my game
I called it Paradise Casino.
BTW: I tested it this morning and discovered that my Sim can successfully fish from the lot. I think he had to be staying at the resort though for the resort version.
Lot Types: For the Casino with Resort - make it a resort lot type.
For the Casino on its own - any commercial lot time that you like. I find Visitors Allowed gives it more freedom. But you can play with various Showtime Lot Types too. They just make it more difficult for Sims to spend the night there in the private rooms. But there are other rooms set up for shows and karaoke.
Karritz, did you try the setimportedterrainelevation cheat? I've gotten really into building islands and one of mine has a basement, and it is ok. I was concerned it wouldn't be, though :? I haven't play tested it enough. I might experiment and report back. Great job on the conversions!
I've got a houseboat I might post later... it is a bit of a silly build, but I made it thinking of all of you on this thread

Yes. I tried it with several different numbers. And I used ConstrainFloorElevation as well and I tried making steps up to it too. After a few hours of trying things I gave up. A few days later I decided to start again. I think the new version is better because I put less in it and it is less complex.
I would love to see your houseboat. I haven't tried one of them yet.
I did some tutorials they have in creative corner. They do a lot of really interesting things and I'm going to have to redo the couple I did as I can't remember how to do some of the things I did.
I decided I wanted to build something today and instead of starting something new, I am working on a house I started soon after this venue was released.
Well all was going to plan. Plan was evolving as I went along. Then I noticed one of my windows was at a peculiar angle. So I tried to straighten it and got the message that it was in use by Adalia Ichtaca. I have no idea who or what Adalia Ichtaca is. And I also wonder what he/she/it could be using it for any why it is now at this peculiar angle?
SOLVED: She's a ghost. I have a ghost gnome so that must be where the ghosts are coming from. And the window has now mysteriously returned to its correct position.
These windows are weird if ghosts can make it look like you used moveobjects to place a window as a peculiar angle.
This house has no third party custom content; however, it does have a lot of items from the EA Store and from various Expansion Packs and Stuff Packs. Apart from some re-colouring I did on a few items, mostly everything is as it comes from EA. Except – I got my Sims to upgrade plumbing fixtures to self-cleaning and the rest of it to unbreakable.
I have not made any alterations to the terrain outside the house so that it should sit nicely in whichever town you wish to place it. I’ve had it in Barnacle Bay, Isla Paradiso, Sunlit Tides, Monte Vista, Lucky Palms and Aurora Skies.
