Hello and welcome to my second modelling competition!
Sceptical though I waS, I made this anyway. Partly because I was absolutely bored with nothing to do; partly because I have no self control whatsoever; and partly because I kind of liked the idea. Seriously - I'm crossing my fingers in the hopes that this wasn't a bad decision.
That aside, you're probably wondering what this competition is, right? Well the name serves as a hint, but here's another: I got this idea when surfing through my old sims pictures. Like, really old. You got it yet...
... No? Okay, so this competition is about dodgy photo taking. Don't raise your eyebrows at me, sweeties! Let me explain how this works.
Every assignment will be about a flaw in an image (e.g bad lighting, no eye contact, terrible quality) and you must take that flaw and, using it in your own image, somehow make something amazing. Got me? Good. Of course, it is only one floor per assignment, so everything else will be marked upon. But creativity's the biggest thing here. How can you make bad quality look good? How can you make bad lighting be effective in an absurd way?
This competition is pretty free in what you can do. For every assignment, the only thing you must do is abide the flaw and then you can do whatever you want, whether it be high fashion, or more of a story telling competition.
The choice is up to you!
1. Abide all forum rules.
2. If your picture contains something, uh, vulgar post it in link form and label it with a warning. However try to stay off anything too exotic.
3. You must have the flaw that each assignment demands. If not, ten point deduction.
4. You must have a thin black border. If not, two point deduction.
5. This is an elimination competition.
6. Assignments will last for one week; you must ask for an extension before the deadline. Extensions will last for two days.
7. There will be TEN assignments - at least that's how many I have thought of in my head.
8. I will be accepting any number of models. I will accept three judges.
9. CC, poseplayer and editing are ALL allowed! Unless the assignment states other wise.
10. Models can be any gender, but must be YAs. Do not change their facial features during the competition... However, any other alterations are permitted.
Assignment Three: Shine bright like a(n) Overly-Saturated-Sim
Not unlike the last assignment, this assignment requests dodgy editing - but this revolves more around saturation. Have you ever seen a picture that's so saturated that the skin's orange and such? I probably did this once or twice for my Shiftacy that was ditched many moons ago, as I thought it looked pretty for this one scene but it really doesn't.
For this assignment I want you to make an overly saturated image look good.Deadline: Tuesday 28th of May

(If the assignment focuses on bad lighting or quality or something, then it will simply work backwards - the worse the lighting is, the higher your mark, for example.)

This was really cute! I loved all the **** tags that you did and the cute stickers. Your set was marvelous! I loved the angle of the picture, not only did it show your model but it also showed all the activities going on behind her. Her pose was really cute also, how she made an actual **** tag! Lol I really loved your entry. Good job

Feedback: Great job! It's nice and bright. I thought the BFF could have been doing something other than just waving to show she really was a bestie and the creepy guy ******* is misspelled but I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. :S

Although your quality is very nice indeed, I felt as if your image was too… Hard to make out? The combination of the lighting, stickers and colours you used make it very bright - too bright, in fact - and it’s rather confusing to make out. Next time try to use more contrast in your image; don people in bright, colourful garments (or something dark, of course) if they’re going to be against a white wall, so they don’t melt into it. The same applies for the usage of colours on items. Anyway that aside your picture is pretty sweet otherwise; the girl with the bunny ears isn’t doing much, so I made half a point deduction but that’s about it concerning that matter. Additionally you could have been somewhat more creative, in my opinion; many have used this theme.

STICKER OVERLOAD!!!!!! Lol. Sorry "back to judge mode" this was really nice, I personally really loved it. The set was done really great. All the stickers that you used were really cute and they all fitted perfectly with the moral of the picture. You did really good and your picture had its own little flavor and I really loved it, good job!

In terms of ideas, this was my favourite assignment; for one you haven’t used the theme everyone else has, and I really think you’ve used the stickers to your advantage. Quality wise it’s pretty much spot on - same to be said about your lighting. The set frames her brilliantly and I adore the symmetry in it, as well as all of the colours you’be used. The only thing I can really whine loudly about is the pose; it seems awfully flat in the facial region, despite it being quite nice everywhere else. Although her head’s tilted, I feel as if she’s a little too… Poker-faced, for my liking?

This was really cute. I loved how you didn't have to use words for you picture and you just used stickers so for me that is being creativity and not doing what everyone else is. The Setting of the scene is really nice and the not so bright and not so dark lighting really gave the room a nice romantic feel to it. I don't know why but the facial expression on your models face loves more mean than either cute or seductive, the heart in the pose is fine but if her facial expression as just different then it would have given off a better mood. But you still did really great. Good job

Feedback: Your model looks very sultry and your quality and lightingare both very good. I think a little more could have gone into the set and you could have used some more stickers, or at least some brighter ones instead of the cream hearts, just to make them extra annoying.

Although you have indeed used a similar theme to other people, I felt as if you really pulled it off - all the poses were magnificent, to say the least, and so was the setting. I mean, come on, how can you not have a mirror shot in the bathroom? There’s really not much to complain about, to be honest. The humour is also quite a nice touch - Sarah Palin in the corner, there, screams Tumblr more than Facebook (which is a GOOD thing - in my mind, at least) and of course there has to be #NERDS on the image when girls are donned in hipster glasses. xD

One quick question before I start commenting, is that a Sarah Palin head in the corner? Lol. That was really cute. All of the stickers were really cute and I loved how you had her dad just chilling on the toilet. I loved how you had the picture taken in the bathroom since most social network pictures used to be taken in bathrooms, lol. Your pose was really lovely also. You did a lovely job, good job.

Feedback: It is nice and bright and the tiny Sarah Palin head made me laugh! The shadowing behind Helena's head made her look slightly like she had been pasted on so watch that in future.

This image was different - and, for that, I gave it a high scoring creativity mark. Nobody else did a bat-sheep crazy blonde murder, funnily enough. That being said minor deductions were made - and please, don’t stab me for them. Quality-wise there was slight issues concerning the blood - you’ve blurred it far too much where it splodges to the right of your corpses. And then there’s the fact that some of it’s floating off of the bed - it’s easy to get rid of that part in GIMP, if you’re unable to in game. Lighting wise it felt a bit… Dark? Perhaps it’s all those browns you used and maybe you could have focussed the lights more on your models; they seem a little flat to me. As long as you don’t over do them and use them wisely, contrast and brightness can be awfully good tools.

This is sooo creative! I love it. Seems like someone doesn't take love very well. I could tell this took some time to do, the set was looking good but maybe something on the wall would have been the cherry on the sundae. Those stickers fit the mood of the picture so perfect. I really liked your idea of this whole thing. Good job

Your idea was certainly interesting; it strays off of the annoying Facebook girl (which have a lot of people have done) and focuses perhaps more on... The annoying Facebook couple? XD Your idea aside the actual picture was well lit and no concerns were found within the quality aspects of things - nor were any found in the poses, might I add. However perhaps your set could have had some work done to it? Although it is nice I felt as if the upper right hand side was too bare, even with the stickers. Something else needs to be there. A painting most likely would look odd, so perhaps (and it would put more focus on your models) try to centre your simmies a bit more next time…? Where the blank wall is, preferably. It tends to help a great deal.

I really love how you could use the stickers and not over do them which was really good. The only sticker that I thought could have been moved was the one on the girl's face. The setting was well done and there wasn't any empty or unneeded spots so good job on that. You did good, so good job.

Feedback: I think you could have used some more stickers here. The set was a bit too blue, especially with your female model dressed in blue as well. Astin was looking good but I noticed his hand was clipping with her hair slightly. Overall, great job!

This image had plenty of humour on it - OMGZ, CREEPY GUY! Perhaps you could have been slightly more creative, however, with the fact that many have done something similar to this on the assignment, but whatever - you’re not the only one. Your lighting could have been improved slightly, although I do know that it can be awfully dark when taking pictures outside, and it’s often hard to get anything decent. Quality wise, however, you were absolutely spot on. Maybe some different poses could have suited the image a bit more, though…? Gosh, I would love to see some more expression - some more duck faces, and tongues and whatever other horrors appear on my FB timeline. XD

Your picture was cute but it lacked originality. When I say that I mean, that your image almost looked like another model's. There are some differences between the your picture and the other models but there are also a lot of similarities. Other than that your set looked really nice with all of the props and your model's pose is wonderful. I hope to see improvement in the next assignment.

Feedback: I loved that owl, it was really cute! The park was nice but I think you could have added some trees or flowers to make it a bit brighter; it's quite plain at the moment. The lighting was great though and the quality was nice and sharp.

Although I did like your image, I felt as if you could have been a lot more creative with it; headshots are painfully plain and don’t get you much set-wise nor creativity wise unless you do something remarkably special. That being said I still liked your use of stickers nonetheless; they didn’t fail to not compliment the image. Quality wise you’re not that bad off - but little things do crop up. Clipping occurs in several placed and her elbow looks somewhat dodgy in this shot, most likely due to the pose. Thankfully these things only got a slight deduction - I thought otherwise, you were absolutely spot on with quality/lighting and such.

I really loved the stickers that you used, they are very bright and they catch your attention. I loved how the background fitted with the stickers to where they all blended in perfectly. The only real problem I found with the photo was your pose, it's a very lovely pose but her arm is going through her hair. I understand you can't fit it but always check your pose before sending it or coming off set because sometimes you could get points taken off for that. Maybe if you used a different pose or hair then the outcome would have been better, but you still did great so good job.

Feedback: Good job Vi! The quality is clear but the texture on her top is slightly blurry and her elbow and wrist are really twisted. I thought the headshot was a good idea but you could have used a few more stickers to make it extra annoying.
