Sims 3 minimizing

I am coming back to the Sims after a hiatus from it, and downloaded all the updates available. I hit the play button to start up the game, and it immediately minimized itself back onto my taskbar. I've tried restarting my computer, having other windows open (or no windows), and can't seem to find a way to fix this. If I hit alt+tab, it'll pop back up for a second or two, then minimize itself again.

Anyone know what's causing this or how to fix it?
