So I made the mistake of messing with my sims files PLEASE HELP [[[SOLVED]]]
I was actually messing with AVG trying clear space and I ended up what I thought was deleting duplicated files and I didn't check what was what. Anyways I think from brief internet research is I messed up with my DCCache and DCBackup folders/files cause they don't exist any more.
What led me to believe that was I was trying to solve the "There was an error during start up check the log for more details." message and clearing the DCCache and DCBackup folders seemed to solve it for people.
I can't find those things which should just be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3" area. I have a windows 7 64 bit computer. Please someone help me solve this I'd really like to play.
**EDIT** So I ended up finding my files and even the log that it's talking about which says this:
"2013/02/12|22:24:45|assetId: 3500875|Exchange Download Failure. CRC Error. Likely file got corrupted in transit.||||Build Version: 17.0.77.020001|Platform: PC|Locale: en_US|Content URL: http://store.thesims3.com|Web Services URL: http://igs.thesims3.com|"
I'm not sure exactly what it's talking about or how to go about fixing it..
[SOLVED]
So I ended up giving up trying for myself and let my more tech savvy boyfriend handle it he ended up uninstalling and re installing everything including expansion packs and now everything works.

Now that you deleted your dccache files, you have to reinstall your store items.
1. Delete the files in installedworlds folder.
2. In the Launcher, Downloads tab, Select All.
3. Click Install.
I deleted the cache files, but I'm not sure how to re-install the store content if I can't open the launcher..

Also, after that log out of and back into Origin.

Did you do this? Also, are you updated to the most current patch 1.50?
If not, use the Super Patcher.
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/175477.page
Edit: If you do need to patch, temporarily move The Sims 3 folder to your Desktop while patching.
No I just installed university and like usual it wants to update so that's what I was trying to do. I'm doing that manual update link now although I'm 98% sure my game was up to 1.50 patch I don't remember the decimals after that though.
Alright re-installed the patch still not working.
Move the The Sims 3 folder from \My Documents\Electronic Arts\ to the Desktop. Play your game and see if you have the same issues. Don't save anything. Post your results back here.
Same message comes up, I think it has something to do with what it says in the log.
"2013/02/12|22:24:45|assetId: 3500875|Exchange Download Failure. CRC Error. Likely file got corrupted in transit.||||Build Version: 17.0.77.020001|Platform: PC|Locale: en_US|Content URL: http://store.thesims3.com|Web Services URL: http://igs.thesims3.com|"
But I don't know how to fix what it's talking about.
"I can't find those things which should just be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3" area."
The DCCach and DCBackup, but I found them this morning, along with the log it talks about in the message when I open up the launcher.
Wasn't aware but I figured I'd try to just uninstall and re-install the base game and it's working at a slow 6% so that's good cause I have a lot of expansion and stuffs installed. Thank you for your help. :]
The message appeared again..
Yeah it was, however now the log looks like this and I don't know what I'm looking at:

^^This
Well I use to click it and it would say "There was an error during start up check the log for more details." However as I just clicked it a moment ago it said "Sims 3 Launcher has Stopped working" The launcher didn't even come up just the white box that said that.
Move the The Sims 3 folder from \My Documents\Electronic Arts\ to the Desktop. See if the Launcher will start now.
Same thing nothing new happened.
Here is the link that has the fixes for the first error message.
