i was playing the other day and the father went to work in his pajamas and the mother called for a babysitter so she could go to the spa i saved the game and then loaded it up again today the father is no longer in the house but he is in the picture at the main menu and then my game closed out said it stopped working properly and then the saved game i had is gone comepletely. any ideas?

There should be a backup file. Look in the Saves folder and you should find a file with the same name with .backup as the extension. Change the .backup to .sims3 and see if the save is there when you go back into your game.
