Is there a way to disconnect the game from the internet?

I was happily playing late night and everything was swell.
I installed Generations, let it patch itself and everything was terrible!
I got the debug message/crash, tons of "notifications for no reason) sims got stuck, vanished, forgot cued actions... in short the game was unplayable.

(I play with about 6 mods and maybe 250 pieces of CC. I had removed them all for this process.)

So, I copied the sims APPLICATION from a pre-generations copy on my time machine back-up disc. (It took hours for some reason.)

So now I am back to playing Late Night and everything is great again. But I get SO many requests to update the game (which I decline). Is there a way to disconnect, some prefrence somewhere, so it stops nagging me?

Anyone know?

(I plan to reinstall Generations when I read in these forums that some of the issues have been resolved with a patch, I guess.)

ALSO, for when I get it running, is there a way to just TURN OFF memories completely? Even after I tuned off the notifications while I was playing briefly, the sound and little snapshots constantly going off over their heads was really annoying!
