What the heck am I supposed to do in this minigame? I can't figure it out, at all.

I wish somebody would tell me too! I really don't get what you're supposed to do?

I remember when I first started playing I had NO idea how to do it but I kept trying and trying and eventually figured it out.

Basically you have a few seconds to see all the random sim hieroglyphics so be sure to memorize the very MIDDLE one. This is the one you will need to find on the remaining two rows. You need to spin the next outer row so that the picture that was in the middle is directly underneath it. Then, move onto the next and final outer row of pictures and spin that as well.
