Although they've got lots of money, seems like they just have one person maintaining the site- or so it seems when Liam shows up.
So you can't really expect the site to be perfect all the time.
EA must be losing money since a few of their other games flopped big time. We could still use a better forum server though since we see Liam a lot when only 400+ are online.
Just for the record, not that it's an excuse but it's better to have the facts straight if using it as a reason, EA has not been profitable since fiscal year 2007, which ended on March 31st 2007 (fiscal years are not the same as calendar years... don't think too hard about it). Since that time they have suffered yearly losses that, as of the end of fiscal year 2010 (March 31, 2010) amounted to more than two billion dollars.
They do continue to earn revenue; but revenues and profits are not one in the same. To put it into perspective, imagine that you make $500/week. That is your revenue. Now imagine that you have various expenses (rent, utilities, etc) that amount to $300. Your PROFIT is $200. $500 revenue - $300 expenses = $200 profit. This is, of course, a VERY basic example.
Now, on the flip side, imagine that you still incur $300 in expenses; but that you only earn $200 instead of $500. $200 revenue - $300 expenses = $100 LOSS, since expenses are greater than the money coming in. This is the situation that EA has been facing for several years.
Remember that number: $2 billion in losses, and this year looks as though losses will continue.
in all fairness, this site and it's bugs can get a bit frustrating...
I agree, entirely. Flawed reasoning, aside, the original poster was fully in their right; and while these same issues persist I would expect (and even hope) that these threads will continue.

EA's old balance sheet shows 1 billion in cash, which may or may not be considered "lots of money". Nothing to sneeze at in my book, but probably better spent on getting the company steered in the right direction as opposed to throwing a couple dollars at this site.
Volatile sector / industry cycle discussions are maybe a little too complex for this Forum
Well just for fun last night, I went to EA.com and clicked on some of the other Official Forums for a few of their other games and they were in a lot better condition than this one. The Sporum Forum is spectacular compared TS3's. Just the fact that they don't have things like PM's, rankings, etc.. disabled ticks me off. The Sims is the one game that brings in the money for them, it's their BEST seller and we get a crappy forum. BTW - The Sporum Forum is also jForums. :hunf:

Thats a good question, along with , why can't they fix the bugs?

That is a great idea, distract him and keep him out of the forum!
