Is anyone else having problems with the sim parent going down in the lift and then back up again to do an interaction with a toddler?

I am getting hacked off with this to the point that I have deleted my game and stated a new one with ready made children.

Also having problems with transfiguration. All goes well until you use the two new mettles. it give so many iron bars that you cannot get rid of them unless they are sold, but, if you try to use them in transfiguration they then crash the sim so they have to be reset.

I haven't had a toddler in an apartment, specifically because as soon as my sim had enough money, I moved her into a house. Everything is so much easier without elevators. They take a long time to use, and there seems to be lots of issues with them, so I'm just avoiding them.
