    It's important that you read System requirements before buying games so you can prepare for situations like this before they actually happen =)

    FOR WINDOWS VISTA

    * Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
    * 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
    * 1.5 GB RAM
    * At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
    * 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

    For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:

    * Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA X3000 or above.
    * 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
    * 0.5 GB additional RAM

    SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS
    NVIDIA GeForce series

    FX 5900, FX 5950
    6200, 6500, 6600, 6800
    7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
    8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
    9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280

    ATI Radeon™ series

    9500, 9600, 9800
    X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
    X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
    2400, 2600, 2900
    3450, 3650, 3850, 3870
    4850, 4870

    Intel® Extreme Graphics

    GMA X3x00 series

    Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Intel integrated chipsets featuring underclocked parts will not perform adequately.
    Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.
    Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn't listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.
    The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

    make sure you meet those specs

    I made the mistake of not reading the requirements because that's how lazy I am, but it has never hurt me before. Come to find out all I gotta do is buy a video card and move on from there. Tomorrow you might wanna call EA and they will talk to you to figure out if your Sysmtem is up to date for Sims 3. They do it step by step, but I just don't know if the video card is the ONLY problem. There are numerous problems out there with people ABOVE standards. Kind of crazy eh?

    well a graphics card will certainly help one aspect but over all if you dont meet the requirements there's a high chance you will run into many problems while playing the game, simply because your computer cannot keep up with it. Also your comp can over heat and burn up on the inside if you're not careful. this is why it's recommended to just upgrade many things.

    Video card, sound card, motherboard, RAM, Hard Drive. Those are the main things

    Right click on "My Computer" on your desktop and select "Manage". When the window pops up, click on "Device Manager" on the left hand side. When that opens up on the right hand side, click the + sign next to where it says "Display Adapters". Post here what that says, exactly.

    So getting a video card, like the guy reccomended me to do, is not all I should get? Well I guess I can only blame this on myself. I just feel bad for the people who actually have the requirements and still can't play. *shrug* :cry:

    this is what I have...sadly.

    ATI RADEON Xpress 200 series

    I never knew how crappy my video card was until today X_X

    That card shows as supported in the system requirements.

    You probably have very old video drivers.

    Go to this page and download the drivers, update them, restart your PC, and try again. It should work for you this time... hopefully.

    Shyshy,

    This is the exact card I have, and the game runs like a dream with all settings at their highest.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130325

    I would imagine that the 8400 would do quite well. As long as your PC meets all the other requirements, that should be all you need. Although if you're running Vista I recommend a minimum of 4 GB of RAM.

    Are you blind? no where on here does it support his card... the lowest series is 6200, he's running a 6150

    Ahh, nuts, you're right. I mixed up the numbers, I was thinking it said 6510 for some reason.

    Sorry, bigears, you're going to need a new card. Newegg.com sells some good ones, like nVidia GeForce 8400's, for under $60. They're not top of the line, buy they'll definitely run TS3.

    Thanks for pointing out my mistake, kduv8. And no, I'm not blind, just stupid. :mrgreen:

    It is worth it unless once we get it and we run into the same problems everyone else is too, including bugs and glitches...etc.

    kduv8,

    Hehehe I sensed that you didn't mean any harm in that post :)

    Shyshy,

    If you play any other games, it's definitely worth it. You'll notice a big difference in any 3D game you play.

    There's always the possibility of running into glitches and issues, but a lot of the complaints I have noticed on the forums here really are related to system requirements. Assuming your PC meets all the other requirements, you should be good to go with the new card.
