    Crashing with Ambitions FIXED!

    Issues already?!?!

    Okay so no custom content, completley legit copy (from walmart @ midnight!) just before any one asks.


    Now the issue is it is crashing no matter what family I try to play - it only crashes when in play mode though. I can be in CAS, Build, Buy, Edit Town, etc and it's fine. It will let me fiddle around with CAS for an hour (I just did it) but no playing the game...

    What now?

    Im doing a clean install but if there is any other advice please let me know. Thanks.

      reinstalling didnt work but turning the DEP off seems to have fixed my issue ....hope that helps someone else in the same situation! :)

      DEP? I am having the same exact problem: as soon as sim play starts (within a few seconds) I crash to desktop.

      Yes same problem here too. I started out by removing all custom content (I have no mods). When that didn't fix it I fully uninstalled reinstalled, added nothing from my previous game back in, still happened. Lowered graphics, updated drivers...still not fixed. I've also run the game with nothing else running in the background, internet off. I also tried turning DEP (Data Execution Prevention) off for the Sims 3.

      Not really sure what else to do at this point. I can use CAS just fine, place lots, browse the neighborhood, but as soon as I move in a family to a house and head into live mode, boom soft crash to desktop. Doesn't even matter which town, house or family (pre-made or self made)I select, the crash just keeps happening :(

      Ok, so I went and tried the DEP again, but went to the Ambitions folder to browse for the executable. Did a full system restart, started up Sims 3 again, everything is so far working again! YAY! Thanks for this information.

      Googled "DEP Sims 3" and came up with this thread: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/133747.page

      Followed the directions (DEP=Data Execution Prevention) and now everything is running fine.

      To sum up, it's Windows not letting us play.

      Sorry I havent responded been busy with RL responsibilities.

      Yea, that is exactly what I did - just googled Turn DEP Off Windows Vista, followed the directions (as you have linked) and did a clean reinstall. :)

      i've done everything... but, when i go to the list my ts3.exe isn't in there what do i do?

      The one (ones, actually) are S3Launcher.exe and TS3EP02.exe, both in the game > bin folder of the Ambitions folder.

      ok, so i put the ts3 thing in the DEP but, it didn't allow me to place the ts3launcher in there tough... i'll see if it works... after i finish updating the game

      I am crashing to and my custom content/store items wont work... (I bought my game from a store its not pirated) I have had nothing but problems out of the sims 3 since the EP started.

      Come on guys such a good franchise but its turned into headache, and its probably thanks to EA.

      First, make sure you are not running with any mods installed. Next, what is going on in your game when you are crashing?

      If you remove your mods/package folder out of the game (put on your desktop or something) and check the run without custom content box does the game still crash?

      Where do you have your Mods/package folder currently?

      My game as also keeps crashing. I've done the DEP thing and I took out all of my moods and disabled my downloads. But it still is crashing on me instantly or in a minute when I load up any saved game. I have also updated my nvida 8400 graphics card(I know its not the best)so I do not know if I am still doing anything wrong or if it is windows 7.

      LittleBlue is it crashing only in Live mode? when exactly is the crash occuring. Can you post your Dxdiag?

      MY SIMS 3 WORKED JUST FINE BEFORE AMBITIONS. I HAVE ALL THE OTHER EXPANSIONS AND NO PROBLEM. I EVEN RETURNED A GAME FOR ANOTHER. STILL CRASHING TO THE DESKTOP. IT IS NOT ANYTHING I HAVE DONE-ITS THE GAME. NO HACKS-NO NEVER. I HAVE WINDOWS XP, BUT SHOULD NOT MATTER AS I SAID ALL MY OTHER GAMES (SIMS 3) AND EXPANSIONS WORKED JUST FINE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PLAY FOR TWO DAYS. :x :cry:

      My game is also crashing since Ambitions. I had no problems before I installed it and I have WA and HEL. I took out all my CC, uninstalled and reinstalled, did the DEP thing, checked all drivers and none were out of date, tried playing in windowed mode, turned off anti virus stuff and still it crashes when trying to play. I can create a sim but as soon as I put it in a lot and I try to do anything with the sim the game crashes. Im pretty sure its not my computer as my computer is only a few months old and since the game was running fine before Ambitions Im sure its the game but I will post my DxDiag anyway....

      Never mind I turned off DEP for the launcher and for the sims 3 and the two expansion packs and it seems to be working fine at the moment.
      *Sigh* I was about to freak out if I could not get it working for the third day in a row.

      My game is crashing as well :( I have Windows XP. I turned off DEP for the game launcher and it lasted for about 40 to 50 minutes but it still crashes. It also crashes on my other computer that had Windows Vista. I can't get it to work. It crashes in everything, create a sim, build, and even live play. I'm very disappointed in this game :( I don't know what to do.

      Ok.. So I noticed everyone is saying that their games are crashing.. anyone having their whole computer crash?? I played Ambitions perfectly fine for 2 days. This morning when I woke up, I'm thinking my pc auto-updated and restarted itself. This was the first time it had been restarted since I installed Ambitions. I can't get my computer to work at all. It keeps blue screen crashing on me. Anyone else having this problem? Any help at all would be very much appreciated. I'm on a borrowed pc atm. I'm not happy at all that I can't use my own.

      Mine didn't crash to desktop... it possibly crashed my entire computer. I do not know as of yet if Ambitions was the cause of it, but it was the only new piece of software I had installed recently. And in complete idiocy from having computers previously that automatically created restore points, never manually created one. Therefore I have no restore points to attempt a system restore to. I also tried resetting it to factory defaults. That didn't work either. I'm at a loss for what to do about my computer.

      Some people have told me it sounds like a hardware problem, others have said software. I honestly have no idea what to do about it. I'm borrowing a pc at the moment and I'm very hesitant to install Ambitions. I really want to because I was enjoying my 2 days of playing it. I'm a really unhappy Simmer right now.
