Today I'd like to show you how to change the water color in Create A World. Its fairly simple and shouldn't take too long. So here we go.

Step 1:
First of all we make the water body, whether its a pond, lake, ocean, or river, whatever. (Use the Steep Valley tool)

Step 2: Raise the terrain in the water with the gentle hill tool until you can see terrain, but water over it.

Step 3: Now we use the Flatten Terrain (NO GENTLENESS) tool. I used Strength for 75 and Falloff to 5 and the size changes over time.

Step 4: Now this is the fun part. In the terrain tool, click on Paint, add a new layer, and select a texture. This is what I'm using: http://img523.imageshack.us/i/water4xw1.png/

Next we color the watery land with the texture.

Step 5: You can perfect it now by fixing any things like texture on real land, etc.

This is how my world looks so far (its not near done):

Oooooh, thanks! 8) I wanted to make an area with nearly black water, because I'm making "sacred places" for different types of sims and am working on a special landscape feature that will be sacred to evil sims. I'll give this a try and see if I can make ominous-looking water.

Great tutorial. I actually made my pink ice cream sea for Candy Land using this exact same technique.

You know what you could do since this is extremely shallow water? Put a bunch of the deathfish spawners in it and lower them so you can't see the fish. Then at midnight the deathfish spawners will emit their dark cloud over the black water! Perfect for a landscape that will be sacred to evil sims
