Launcher & Custom Content Problem

I recently replaced my motherboard and graphics card and after installing the sims 3 the game will no longer allow me to add the free town or add any custom content thru the launcher i keep haveing to download the package file and do it thru that which takes forever (This is befor i updated my graphics drivers so the launcher still worked). Also i noticed they said the launcher issue crashing is only Windows XP i have Windows Vista and i get the error all the time the launcher doesn't even work for me anymore i just bypass it. I've also noticed a lot of graphics issues with my new 9800GT card this is all fresh install everything was redone. I have current drivers of everything. Basicly my question is why does the game seem to get more unstable every single time i patch it. :shock: :roll:
