Sliders on the icons

According to the manual, I can change the time it takes to sleep when there are sliders on it. I cant change it though. Anyone know why?

It's not "sliders" per se, but there is a drawer thingy (three vertical dots) on the right side of the icon. You can drag that left and right to change some actions, like sleeping, gaining skills, etc. For example, if your Sim is tired, and they have work in the morning, normally they'll automatically wake up when the carpool comes. But if you want your Sim to skip work and keep sleeping, you can drag the icon out and it will read "sleep until fully rested."
