Looking to get a laptop that is primarily to run the Sims 4

SummerjaseSummerjase Posts: 1,424 Member
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm trying to help my brother out in finding a laptop. Neither of us know much about computers/specs so I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help.

We're looking for a laptop that can run the Sims 4, and that's about it. Nothing super extravagant, and nothing super expensive. I don't even think he wants the laptop to do much more than run the Sims 4. Honestly, the bare minimum would be fine; or whatever is going to smoothly run the Sims 4.

I used to be able to run the Sims 4 on my old laptop without much problem, except that I would usually have to have it in 'laptop mode' for it to run smoothly. Even then, I really didn't have much issues playing the game. So if that's how it has to be with this, then I'm sure that would be fine too.

It's been a fairly long time since I've been on here, so I'm not sure if links are allowed, but they would be appreciated! If anyone has a link to a laptop that would be able to smoothly run the Sims 4, or any brands, etc. Like I said, I don't know much about computers so the more specific the better! I'm trying to find this in time for Christmas, so any help would be appreciated!

Depends! Since I don't think we're looking for a specific 'gaming laptop' (more of one that JUST needs to run the sims) maybe on the cheaper end.

If you’re not in the market for a gaming laptop, you need to get as much memory and storage as you can. If it’s in the budget, consider getting a dedicated graphics card, as well. I run the game on a Dell laptop with i7 processor, 1 TB SSD, 16 GB RAM and a dedicated NVIDIA graphics card. A vanilla game with a lot of (but not all) packs runs very well on high settings. With CC and mods, I customize and drop some settings down to improve performance. This computer was refurbished, so the price was good.

I'd say to look for something on sale and look for the nicest you can find within your budget but maybe be open to any brand if it offers the best features.

Clicking Windows on the bottom corner, there should be a settings button. In there an About button should be there to tell you. I use an Acer but I think since they both use windows it should be the same
