Keep Putting Cake in Fridge

Since the update I tried to make birthday cakes but because the Sim wasn't hungry she just popped it into the fridge and now I can't get it out. Also, my other Sim was making a grand meal and threw the whole thing in the refrigerator and all they had was leftovers.
Has anyone had this happen? Were you able to work around it?
