I miss the melodic humming and sounds that the Sims 2 sims make. It makes Sims 3 and 4 look weaker. Although Sims 3 matches Sims 2 with the animations.
I'm of the mind that gameplay is more important than graphics. A game that isn't fun to play but has great graphics may as well be a pretty painting. Nice to look at and that's it.
I think the point of the comparison is to show that despite being the latest iteration and therefore, a more improved version of the Sims, something as simple as a pizza looks better in the older iteration than the new one.
For some people, the difference makes it seem like the Sims decreased in quality with the latest entry when it should be improving.
I agree with you 100%. A game that has hardly any gameplay is so boring...EA/Maxis needs to put more gameplay objects into its worlds instead of plunking the same boring bars, generic gyms, mundane museums and lame libraries into each new world that's made.

I'm with you @Lady_Ballora. While these online comparisons focus on graphics and the declining attention-to-detail arguments, gameplay is my priority.
I'm not someone who prioritizes graphics over gameplay depth, BUT...
I really think graphics should at least match the prequel game rather than experience a decline in quality.

Really it's like people complaining about the stupid hair drier coil in Bathroom Clutter Kit.
I disagree with the comparison. And besides, food is culture, a career, and a skill. It’s significant.

Sims 4 is eerily quiet and charmless.

P.S. Excited for the FNAF movie?
I think Sims 4 wins here!
