Same Name, Two Different Sims.

Brd709Brd709 Posts: 2,096 Member
My sim selfs second youngest son Carlin named his first born son after his grandfather Harry. At the the time, Harry shared his mother's maiden name. Now Harry's mother has married his father, Carlin wants to change Harry's last name to his.

My sim self also named his 4th son after his then wife Liberty's father Harry. Would it be confusing having two sims sharing the same name? Or do I change the second Harry's first name?

Another option would be instead of leaving or changing the name would be to add a middle name.

If they are in different generations from each other, give the older Harry I and the second one Harry, II. I have to do this in my family tree. Too many men named for their ancestors. My 6th great-grandfather, John, is the 'Rock Star' of the family in my view. Certainly, he is the most famous of his parent's offspring. So much so that he had a couple of nephews named after him, plus his own Junior. Also, his father, Valentine, had grandsons named for him, too. I've had to list siblings of my Ancestor just to keep all of the names sorted. What's really bizarre is my Ancestor's first son was named Joseph. A year later, his youngest brother was born and also given the name of Joseph. The two managed to die within a year of each other, too. The second Joseph was denoted by the family historian as Joseph I, just because, technically, he was born in the generation above. So, although John's son was born the year before his brother, his Joseph is Joseph II. Just to try to keep them straight. Yeah, It's a nightmare.

In my game I list Joseph, Sr. Cantrell, and I call his son, Joey. Simplicity is key in the game.

Perhaps in order to honor Harry properly, you could just name the youngster Harry Harry.
    Or perhaps Harry Harry-Harry?
    :)

I could call the second Harry Harry II

    Google gave me these alternatives:
Henry, Hank, Harold, Harvey, Harris, Harrison, Harriet, Harriete, Harolda, Haris (Greek), Charis (Greek), Harilaos (Greek), Charilaos (Greek), Häräy, Gäräy (Tatar), Hari (Hindi), Harri (Finnish/Afrikaans), Theoharry, Theoharis (Greek), Theocharis (Greek)

    Or perhaps Harry Harry-Harry?

That's a great idea as well. I was thinking of renaming the second Harry because for when i may need to summon him via MCCC and summon sim by name sends me the wrong harry instead.
