So, the 100 Baby Challenge is definitely going to be a lot more difficult now! angelbear has a thread for support, and I was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on it too.

I can't even imagine how challenging it was already before infants since I've never had more than 3 children in any family I played. But I know infants are a handful from my play save. Crying, smelly, hungry and tired- but enough about the parents... Respect to any of you that can handle a full house of that. But their adorable, and I love every minute of playing with them.

Oh, and Hi everyone! *awkward wave* I have been gone from the the game, the writing, and well... sorry for ghosting everyone. I got into a deep dark place after my story got fried up by my computer, but everything is better now. No more Yvonne AKA My Dancing Girl.

Maybe Infants will spawn a new special sim for me. Without earth shaking multiverse imploding plot twists- I hope.

    Happy Monday!!

I hope you’re having a great start to the week and are feeling creative

Chapter 11 of my latest story can be found by clicking my signature and I’m working hard to get the first half of Gen 2 underway. I have all the screenshots and none of the story :joy:

Turns out my Sims Through The Ages and Astrology challenges are quite popular at the moment which is fun. Are any of you challenge/legacy style players or if not how do you prefer to play??

    Happy Simming

I do tons of screenshots too before writing

I consider myself classic legacy, even though I never have completed one. I like to start from nothing and see how the family grows. So maybe mostly family play/rags to riches. I also enjoy the building aspect of the game.

@PitlordMaggie I’m glad I’m not alone! The gameplay is the best bit but then I just end up with so many :joy:

I’m quite similar, I had to create challenges to stop me from getting bored and quitting when they got rich and there wasn’t much of a struggle any more. That said I’ve only completed two legacies since 2009 :joy:

@lizzielilyy I find it the most fun at the very start when funds are though. But there are ways

@PitlordMaggie haha I love those ideas!! I used to use the buy real estate in sims 3 and create a second home where all the elderly sims were sent, that used some of it!

good evening! i'm random and i thought i'd introduce myself here since i recently learned what simlit is and have been developing my own story lately. i decided to join the forums so i could network a little and just talk about the sims in general!

i also have a question though. what's the general consensus on sharing simlit that contains explicit/adult content? my story's probably gonna have a lot of darker subject matter, so i wanted to know before even trying to share it ^^"

Hello @RandomMicrowaveTM ! I personally enjoy to read a dark story as long as it serves the story.

When it comes to sharing: I wouldn't post the chapters directly to the forum as it's own thread because some readers are young, or just sensitive. I think a signature link to your blog with trigger warnings would be okay. I post links to recent chapters, but I never had anything happen that is not gameplay. If I did I would add trigger warning so people know what they get.

This might even get some people intrigued, me included

Edit: If I remember correctly new members can't post links until they get some posts in, I forgot how many. Take part in discussions and in time you can link

@PitlordMaggie alrighty! that's what i figured i'd have to do, considering the forum guidelines haha. thanks!

it's gonna take some time before i even have anything to share to begin with, so i don't mind the new member restrictions. in the meantime, does anybody have some good simlit recommendations? i'd like to give a little love to other's works before i get any, but there's just so many in this thread alone!

My recommendations for Simlit right now:

Anything @SnowBnuuy has written. A really good writer who specialises in sci-fi/supernatural stories and who can get a bit dark with them.

Lucky Girl by @hellohannah2. Like SnowBnuuy, Hannah's one of the best writers around here. Lucky Girl is more realistic with no magic or sci-fi but it has light, dark and shade in the story.

Tusnelda and Trix by @MonaSolstraale. A story about a young woman with lots of curiosity and her cat. And their partners, friends and more cats. I love this story to bits; it's quirky, funny, sweet, sad...Mona's got a style of writing all of her own which is just charming.

I haven't read Under A Tartosan Sun yet, but I love the graphics and images that @DaniRose2143 puts up now and again...those screengrabs are tempting me to start reading once I have free time.

And then, with all modesty, there's this story about Sim life in the 1960s...Sim 66 by yours truly.

...speaking of which, here's the latest chapter. Life at the Landgraab Corporation is becoming even more difficult for Jeremy. Chapter 191: Security Check, A-OK.

Welcome in @RandomMicrowaveTM. I've been here a while and have posted links to stories with adult content and it was something that was more popular in the past for reasons I can only speculate about...I think there is a time to decide when to link vs. when to say "sorry, you can find it on my blog!" and you definitely have to moderate your actual forum posts (like those discussing your story) a lot more. Maybe have someone here look it over.

Thank you for the mention @Kellogg_J_Kellogg.🙂

I’ll second the mention for Lucky Girl. @hellohannah2 does a wonderful job with the dialogue and character development.

Fier Legacy by @haneul is another one I recommend. It’s gameplay based and she does a great job of writing it up and making it very interesting. She doesn’t hit you with a novel like myself and others do so it’s perfect if you’re pushed for time. With that said I need to get my nose out of my stories more often and into this one.

Wyrd Girls from @luciusstorm is another favorite. He does a wonderful occult based story, with some familiar faces. Like Fier Legacy they aren’t novel length but they are fantastic fun.

    Hi all! Happy Wednesday <3

Welcome in @RandomMicrowaveTM I hope you're having a lovely day and enjoying the forums so far.

Chapter Twelve of my Evergreen legacy is up now and I just realised my signature isn't showing properly for some reason. It might just be my end because if I click the writing it still goes to the right link, it's just showing as an icon and header-image.png rather than the actual picture. Has anyone else had this before?

Thanks for the shoutout @Kellogg_J_Kellogg !

@RandomMicrowaveTM I would say the general consensus that works for most people, is to post your story off the forum (so don't post the chapter itself in the threads, post them on your own Blogger or Wordpress etc.) and then link the chapters in your own story thread. And always give clear content warnings at the start of your chapters just to be extra careful. My chapters get heavy at times but I provide plenty of warning at the start. Also I've been here long enough now that everyone knows what to expect out of any chapter I post XD

My story suggestions to you are:
Seventeen and Maldusk by @GlacierSnow is a fun story about occult roommates, it's hilarious and with a comic / manga vibe to the story as well.
Tales of Camelot by @_sims_Yimi is based on the original tales loosely, with plenty of fantasy elements (and plenty of heart wrenching moments ;-;)
Miller Legacy by @HermioneSims is a great legacy about the relationships between humans and aliens, and it goes into a lot of depth on topics such as prejudices and coming to understand one another in a complex way.

I have launched a new blog, Twin Oracle Point (I could not come up with a creative name). It will be a classic vanilla legacy (no mods/cc).
My other blog, Greenwood Estate, only made it to Gen 3, but I still think it's worth a read if you like those type of stories. It's mostly gameplay with some plot. Anyways, here's chapter 1:

I have a fantastic announcement to make with this post! The screenshots for the entire rest of Nightshade are COMPLETE, only writing is left! Hopefully this means the chapters will start coming much faster, however, I want to upload the ending -- 4 chapters long -- all at once, so once I get to that point, it may take a while. With that being said, here's Chapter 113, which you can read by clicking here!

Welcome! I think it's also a matter of how explicit you're going. The Sims itself is rated T for Teen, so suggestive themes, a bit of blood and violence and some strong language is allowed. I mean, you can get straight up murdered by a chicken and woohoo in a dumpster, this is not a children's game 😂

I personally cover some mature topics such as addiction, mental health and cheating, and some of my screenshots are probably really toeing the line for being explicit, but while the situations might be adult, I do stick to not showing anything that would be hidden by swimwear. But if you want to get more explicit you do risk getting banned or deleted on these forums, so just be aware of that and make sure you don't post anything inappropriate directly to the forums 😊

Thanks for the shout outs you guys! Many of the stories & legacies I love have been recommended too so I'll just add the True Story of the Villareal Family as mine, it makes me laugh out loud every week. The story is great and so easy to get invested in. The author doesn't seem to be on these forums but here's the blog link https://mannylikessims.wordpress.com/simlit/the-true-story-of-the-villarreal-family/

I'm glad this conversation about adult content has come up, because it's something I've been meaning to talk about. Part 1 of my story probably fits within the realm of "T for Teen" but part 2 certainly doesn't. I wonder about the best way to handle adult themes, like, should I even link to my blog at all when the subject matter is particularly heavy? I've already gone into ~illegal substances~ a little bit, but I'm heading into a territory now that will be in the NSFW camp and I've been nervous about what's appropriate to share here. I certainly don't want to risk getting banned (!!)

@hellohannah2 The way I got around is by (depending on various factors) shooting the screenshot so nothing inappropriate is shown, and also in some scenes by blurring the Sims so much that you can’t see exactly what’s going on but you know. (i did this during a ‘woohoo’ scene and also two birth scenes as well). I also don’t describe any ‘woohoo’ scenes in a lot of physical detail as well, and focus on the emotional side of things more than anything.

@hellohannah2 that's kinda the same concern i have. my story will definitely be hosted somewhere off the forums just because it's all around quite mature, with lots of swearing & violence & the like.

but like you said, what i wanna know is, is there a limit to how much i can describe before i can't even link to it in the forums?

i'm not too worried about what i can include in screenshots, since i plan on the story being more writing-focused anyways, and screenshots only being used either as chapter covers or in the event that i find images work better than words.
