  • I got the Dell G5 2021 about a month ago. (Updated from the 2018 one) I don't know about other games, but it runs the Sims games perfectly. It doesn't have the best screen though, but you can use an external monitor. (It's fine for me but reviews all say it's horrible). I would also recommend this over other gaming…
  • Actually what my bf was talking about was internal things inside the game code, so unfortunately your brother won't be able to help with it. :( That's why his best guess was a driver update if nothing else worked.
  • I asked my boyfriend who works on high-end computer graphics. He knew what the possible cause of the issue could be (something with shaders), but his best guess for fixing it was updating your drivers.
  • Went to the Alps on a road trip back to my home country. Beautiful scenery, though I come from the plain, so active holidays in the mountains is not really my thing...especially when no one tells me to dress warm. Two days after arriving home we went to Greece. Again beautiful, not a cloud in the sky, just chilling at the…
  • Have you tried other games to see if it's specific to the sims? I'm guessing it is, but just to be sure. Also if you're not sure if you've done the graphics rules okay, I suggest redoing it by hand. You can still use the app to make the game recognize the graphics card, just not the GraphicsRules.sgr.
  • A single person is working on this, he doesn't any artists. Later in development he will have people who can draw all the nice characters people need. At this point it just simply makes no sense. Why spend time drawing things that you can't put in the world because you don't have one?
  • Nope, the career looks kinda interesting but I'm not gonna pay 10 euros for a career. The fact that the first trailer had more real people than actual sims in it shows how much content this pack has.
  • I wasn't sure what to choose, since it really depends on the sim. When it's a small family (mother, father, one or two kids) I love having them go out. Right now I'm doing a legacy challenge and as much as I'd love to have them go out, I'm one of those people who focus on points 24/7 :D
  • I used to use family echo but I started using the plum tree. Though for actually writing down their skills etc (since I'm doing a legacy challenge) I use a separate PowerPoint document.
  • Hmmm I managed to pick the SSD up today (thought I wasn't gonna be able to do it till Monday) and installed the game on it. I haven't noticed anything being slower in build/buy than before, though I didn't have time to play that much yet. Anyway leaving the folder in its place worked just the same so thanks! :)
  • I meant the Samsung T5 SSD, so it connects through USB C. (I wanted one with TB3 but that's waaaaay too expensive for my wallet) It's advertised as something that's good for running games from it so that's why I bought it instead of switching the SSD (I want to have an HDD for storing data as I'm really paranoid about…
  • I find her face so funny like "why do I have to help her potty all the time"
  • I'm horrible at coming up with names. So I just keep pressing it until it's not some weird CL name.
  • While I'd love to see other life simulation games, you're basically expecting an indie game to go up against a AAA franchise. Until a big studio picks it up, it's not gonna make EA go "guys we gotta do something to keep the players". It's fine to consider this a possible alternative to the sims but it's not going to be a…
  • Like I said. No update means players can't buy expansion packs. Say you've decided not to update but suddenly you got 40 euros to spare and want to get that one EP you don't have. But oops you can't because your game is not up to date. That's 40 euros lost for EA. I get your point. But with a game that relies on DLC as…
  • As others have said, just play offline. The reason they are so forceful of updates is because of the online stuff like the gallery. Two different game versions just don't work together. Or buying new packs. You can't buy anything sims related until your game is on the version where it knows about the existence of said DLC.…
  • This might be how it looks when all "sliders" are set to 0. It would be useless to take time to make a face for the grim reaper when you're not really supposed to look at it. I might be wrong of course, never really looked into case sliders in any of the games.
  • Even though 3 is my favourite sims game, I gotta admit that the old version of 4 is the best.
  • I took a really long break from the sims games and especially the sims 4 due to school and such so I missed out on a lot of these "getting DLC stuff for free" uproars. I honestly don't mind that these became base game items. I'm happy that more people can enjoy the photography skill even if I paid to get it. I've had it…
  • This is kinda like expecting a discount because you payed for the game and not just got it when it was free.
  • That moment when you invite your (hopefully) future husband over and the first thing he does is cleaning the shower.
  • If you have a dedicated SSD for the Sims games only then it should be enough. With an OS and other stuff on it not really. I have a 256 GB SSD in my laptop and it's really too small for all my uni apps and a few games.
  • @SimplyJen I thought I heard about a larger UI mod somewhere once, but I guess that must have been for TS4. :/ Anyway, I'm planning to get an external monitor and keyboard to make work easier once I save up enough money for that so worst case scenario is I won't be able to play until then.
  • @Amylsims I really should be the last person to give advice in this thread but you should really check the FPS in game, just to make sure it stays capped. (I could leave it uncapped too and the line would disappear but there's a reason why my laptop fans sound like they are preparing for takeoff if I do)
  • @SimplyJen I tried Windowed Borderless a few days ago. It worked perfectly, but the resolution was still a problem. Reading the text at 1080p is a serious strain on my eyes and if I put it to a lower resolution the window itself is smaller too, which I'd also like to avoid.
  • I feel like I should just give up. Maybe it's my laptop telling me that I should not install it to stop me from playing with it once I start university :D I will keep trying though, thanks anyway :)
  • I already checked with TS4 and it works perfectly (the resolution is also 1600x900, not 1920x1080), so luckily it's not dead pixels.
  • @phoebebebe13 That's the weird thing. When it's connected to a monitor at 1080p, it's fine. But when it's not, but still at 1080p, the line is there.
  • @Nichaedemus just tried it on a TV and a monitor (which was used to play TS3 before I got the laptop). The line is gone, however the FPS doesn't go above 30 and I get terrible camera stutter. (tried it with TS4 too, to see if it's the same with other games too, but that works fine) EDIT: set the resolution to 1080p and now…
  • I'm on holiday for the next two days so I won't be able to check that. (Though I'm really thinking of returning the laptop because I'm not sure if the 8th gen processor is worth the fan noise)
