My male child sim was appeasing a gnome during Harvestfest in his living room when he was struck by lightning; his body stretched out a bit it seemed like, and afterwards he seemed okay. It was just odd!

If a gnome dislikes your offering he can zap you with electricity.
@klovesjen You may also want to check that all your rooms have ceilings, I've seen on other threads if they don't rain will come in and I suppose lightning may too.
There seem to be some issues with indoor/outdoor boundaries. One of my sims tried to “run inside” during a blizzard while they were already inside.
My toddler did that during a thunderstorm the other night - she was in her room and ran into the hall, and then apparently realised that she was already indoors. There is definitely a roof, and no rain coming into the room. Her bed was close to a window, however. (It was sort of cute, actually.)
