Seasons, University, Vacations (with resorts/hotels/cruise ships), Hobbies (sewing, knitting, quilting, more instruments, dance classes, ballet, bands) & more active/non-active careers (education, real estate, fashion designer) are big must haves for me. It's hard for me to even think of any new themes that I'd want, maybe farming.

I only want contents that are worth the price, regardless of it being old or new.

I don't really get the "you can always go back to play ts3/ts2" narrative. They are different games anyway. Despite some features of the previous iterations are appealing, there are many other reasons to not go back. I have never played the previous games but from what I've heard so far, neither ts2 or ts3 would suit my playstyle, let alone the graphics are nowhere near as good and I'm too attached to my sims.

It's nice to have new packs that weren't in previous iterations, but I don't think I'm okay with Sims 4 leaving out the essentials. I don't want it to be a copy of the previous games either.

I do want weather/climate and seasons because I live in New England and the game doesn't feel complete to me without it. If I lived in California I might not miss it so much.

But equally as much, I want more strange, supernatural or fantastical things that are not mundane mimics of real life because I just don't play that way and I think it's boring. I was really frustrated by the first two years of Sims 4 releases because for me, it felt like a lot of nothing. Spas, restaurants, patios, luxury items... those things are bland and forgettable, no matter how well they are done. Again, in terms of my gameplay. It's all safe, it's all banal and it doesn't keep my interest. But when Vampires released...that changed everything for me. So I really prefer something wild, or dangerous, or bizarre. I want werewolves that bite, I want magic everywhere, I want fairies and goblins, I want superheroes, an apocalypse, natural disasters, robots and space travel. I want things that I can put into my game and get a burst of flavor and excitement. I want to be able to change my whole world to be whatever my imagination allows.

I also want deeper mechanics. I want Fear in my game. I want recognition of death and working graveyards with haunting ghosts. I want Sims who fight and argue and hate each other, who remember wrongs done to them and who seek revenge. I want deeper romance, love triangles, rejection and attraction. I want personal preferences and dislikes and surprises. I want flawed Sims with complicated personalities who struggle sometimes. I don't care what they eat, but I do care what they remember. I just want complicated beings in a world of obstacles so that when they overcome the odds, I feel their accomplishments.

Old or new, I don't really care. As long as it adds a good punch of flavor in my game so that I am engaged in the content, I will be happy.

Yes! This! In addition to the bold I want consequences for my Sims real palpable consequences! Make a bad investment in the business career? It should set you back significantly in your finances and your sim should be angry, or sad or tense or all three. Cheat on your spouse? Your relationship should suffer a major blow, your sim should maybe feel guilty depending on traits, evil or mean Sims maybe not, but good ones would for sure. That kind of thing. I want more random happenstance, both good and bad that forces a change of my plans and makes me have to deal with the cards I'm dealt. Player control is good in some respects, but it can also make things super boring. Right now I know if I start a legacy, I will have as many generations as I want because literally nothing is going to happen to prevent or slow it down. I know that when I create a sim there is pretty much a 100% chance that he/she will live to a ripe old age. I never have to question it.

To me some of the packs from the past became "essentials" over time, e.g. University and Seasons. So of course I'd like to see them return.
But I also like new stuff added to the game to keep it interesting. Like some others already said a Farming EP would be a great addition to the game. I'd also like to see more jobs and traits. Traits that have a real impact, not just text that changes nothing (e.g. "pee like a champion"...).
However, an expansion that skipped one or two generations of the game could also make an interesting return. I am especially thinking about Superstar (TS), Hot Date (TS) and Freetime (TS2).
I'd love to see a singing career in game, EA! You can't let the singing skill go to waste! My TS4 EPs: GTW, GT, CL, C&D, S, GF, IL, DU, EL, SE, CoL, HSY, GrT, HR, FR GPs: OR, SD, DO, V, P, JA, SV, RoM, DHD, MWS

A lot of people want time travel. I'd love time travel but, realistically, it will never happen. They would need to create a whole new world for your sim to visit. Even creating small worlds, two or three, would take a lot of time and expense. And lets be honest, once the novelty of traveling to medieval times wears off, you may never go back.

I wouldn't mind a time machine like in S3 where your sim goes backward or forward in time and comes back almost instantly (because it is time travel after all) dressed in period clothes with souvenirs and stories to tell. Maybe they come back with a new spouse or a child they acquired during their stay in another time.

Imagine, your sim goes back to caveman times, lives there for a few years, but comes back with a son. How funny would it be watching the caveboy trying to figure out modern objects. The TV would scare the pelt off him at first. Or being fascinated by the Roomba and throwing rocks at it. Or bringing home a son from the future. The futureboy "telling" things to work and wondering how we manage to get things done by actually needing to do them ourselves instead of Siri doing it all for us. I think that time travel could have a lot more fun than us as the player going somewhere too.

We need the inventor skill and table object back.

The ideas category has lots of threads that spill out what people want to see in the game already. Along with the thread created by EA Mage in that same category, where we are also encouraged to share our ideas

Like others have said, I would want some way for Sims' consequences to be expanded on in this game, good or bad, all depending on their traits, actions, history, maybe even a possible reputation, what career and skills they have, it would make each Sim feel so incredibly unique and different, because ones Sims' consequences would be much different than the others. Parenthood did this already with the character value traits, especially with the irresponsible trait negatively impacting work performance automatically. Seasons could definitely add some kind of aspect like this, a dream feature of mine for seasons is some sort of a house maintenance system that basically affects how your Sims house is affected by weather and other conditions, so things like leaky roofs, flooded basements, broken/functioning AC/Furnace, power outages, and other house conditions would be effected depending on the house maintenance. I want my world to actively impact my Sims' lives, whether that would be other sims that had a bad day affecting the mood of my Sims', to severe weather conditions damaging my Sims' house, etc.

So basically to answer the original question, I want something different, but that doesn't mean old themes can't be reintroduced in a different way. City Living for example (my favourite pack) is comparable to Late Night, both city oriented packs but both handled very differently that had different focuses and introduces different features.

For me, I really don't care for Seasons or Pets but really want an education style ep. Not just focusing on university, but all education. But I do understand why people want those other things. When they don't give you something in the next game that was pretty popular in previous games, of course a lot of people are going to want to see it added again. Which means less chance of newer content being added and leaves a lot of people disappointed or just plain bored. I personally think that pets and seasons should be a base game feature by this point so that those who want them have them, and those who want to see new stuff added will.
Have a super fantastic awesome splendid amazing day! -TheQxxn

What I REAAAALLY miss is the chaos. In Sims 3 I couldn't leave my Sim alone for a minute without worrying whether they'd burn the house or themselves down, or get into a fist fight with some random Sim and I LOVED that. In 4, I can literally, and have, walked away to go do something and my Sim is perfectly fine on their own. It's really boring and kinda part of the reason I'm not as into playing as I first was.

I love a lot of things about 4, and I'd still say I prefer it to 3 but in that aspect it's sorely lacking. I've always played with autonomy on because I love the random fun it brings but Sims in 4 don't feel curious and independent anymore. They're way too safe. They focus on their needs and rarely do anything spontaneous, at most they'd start mischief on the computer.

In 3, the minute I entered a home with a brand new Sim for the first time I HAD to make them read up on cooking otherwise I was guaranteed to burn their house down or kill them. If I was feeling mean, or rushed, I'd make them cook and cross my fingers they didn't burn. Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. That was really fun! In 4, all they do is sneeze in their hand or nick their finger and continue cooking and the only downside is having bad tasting food. This also makes some skill books in 4 totally useless because there's no punishment for leveling a low skill on their own like how burning to death was a chance in 3.

I want more consequences and more excitement!!

NPC characters such as fireman, police, social worker, headmaster, burglars. Cars, Garages, Driveways. Seasonal weather. College schooling for young adults as well as boarding school for teens. Beach getaway pack with a hotel and room service and activities to do at the resort/hotel.

Some sort of “hot date” pack with online dating. Match making service with blind dates and romantic getaway options.

The one big thing I want is for the sims to stop with the electric device addiction. I also want things like landlines and newspapers back in-game. My wish is for the devs to stop with the in-game "gimmicks" and "collections" and replace it with some real significant gameplay features. It seems it stopped being the player who rules, at least that is the impression I have gotten since 2016.

How about SimSwipe, a dating App for finding other sims in your area.

I don’t even have a landline and I haven’t in years! I know some people still do, but I don’t see the point in it. And we read our news online too! I would be fine with older tech options being in the game, but I can see why they were left out. I’m actually just surprised they didn’t do more with Sims social media, or making tablets for all ages instead of just toddler. But anyway, I’m totally with you on the fewer gimmicks/more actual gameplay thing. I don’t mind the collections but I just want more meaningful things for my sims to do as well.

I would like to see a combination of old and new stuff. And I would especially like to see more interactions. I miss children being able to play cops and robbers and other games together (from the sims 2). I miss the romance interactions, playing footsie in the restaurant, whoohoo in the shower, cuddling up on a bear skin rug ( what a great interaction that would have been for outdoor retreat), playing volleyball with the family.

I would love to see stuff to make a casino. Stuff to make an amusement park, a water park and something like sea world. Souvenir (shops), hot dog stands, peanut/ popcorn vendor, ice cream/icee vendor( that you can add to other world as well, like in parks.

I want to see a farm pack, that my farmers can call home, with breedable animals that can be used for food, beef, pork, goat, lamb, chicken. At the same time I would like to be able to get milk from cows, eggs from chickens, wool from sheep. I want my farmers to have to feed and clean up after their animals, I want to see barn dancing with fiddlers and special farm dances. A great place to add new crops like corn, grain and hay. I also want to see a sewing machine ( both antique and modern) in this pack and patterns and bolts of Fabric (what a great place to add a color wheel!). I would like to see a butter churn and canning station return, and a cupboard to store things (just like the boxes we can store things in). There are so many things I can see coming in this pack!

I would like to see a return of superstar (sims 2 version), with active careers (I loved get to work, mostly the career part), though I wish the lots were not hidden, and sims could walk into the hospital and police station, and take a tour of the science facility.

I would like to see more active and non active careers. I think each expansion pack should come with a few careers, and each GP should come with at least 1 new one. I want my Mr. fixit to be a plumber, and work around 4 hours a day. I don’t see why they can’t set it for him to go to other homes and fix things the way officers investigate clues at different homes in get to work.

I want to see an education pack, where we can follow our teachers or students to school. I want preschool, grade school, high school, and University.

Where are our pool tables, variety of pin ball and video game machines, and family volleyball? I want my children to play with baby dolls. Maybe rag dolls for farmers children in a farming pack. I want them to be able to play hopscotch with other children, and play on swings and slides, and merry-go-rounds ( not just toddlers.) And, how about adding preteens? And could you please bring back real apartments? Could you also bring back newspapers (we should be able by family to decide whether to order them, and then pay a monthly fee). Please also bring back laptops that we can take places with our sims.

I would love to see a color wheel added to clothes and furniture. An attraction system, memories like in the sims 2. And others sims reacting to others moodlets. Also, if a child’s caretaker dies, please let us be able to put them up for adoption.

I want to see a variety of hobbies, and be able to use the things from the hobbies to sell, or give away if we want to.

I want to see cars return, with special Lots like a filling station/repair shop with a convenience store and a car wash. A great place to add the mechanic career and tinkering with cars, and teaching our teen sims how to drive. whoohoo, and fooling around should be added to cars as well. Again a color wheel and large variety of cars would be great. We should be able to make a car dealership if we have get to work, and please add a cash register that works rather than using tablets. Motorcycles, bikes, skates and skateboards could also be added.

Leisure vacations.... casinos, amusement parks, hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, movie theatres, oceans sims can swim in, build sand castles, collect sea shells, get a sun tan or sun burn. Snowy vacations where sims can ski, tobaggin, sled, use snow boards, make snow angels, have snowball fights, cuddle up on a bearskin rug by a fire. Souvenir shops, skating rinks. Cruises....

I would love to see an elderly pack with bingo, needle point/crocheting, hand sewing ( they could make stuffed animals and dolls for grand children.) whittlng and such, maybe these things could be added to a hobby pack. I also want to see a useful rocking chair.

Oh, I forgot I want witches and a magic pack too!

    This is it.

I'd like to be able to play different eras (or at least households from different eras) and it would be a lot easier to do if the mobile phone wasn't so deeply integrated into gameplay. I'm fine with mobiles being in the game (it would be weird if they excluded them), but I do wish they were more of an optional thing.

You should meet some of my family.

While a majority of society is pretty tech heavy there are people in the modern world who are as tech free as possible and make a point of staying that way (environment and health concerns being prime reasons for those I know) since Sims is a life simulator and does cover other more niche lifestyles I don't see it as unreasonable to also accommodate people who want less tech as a option. Especially when it can feed into all sorts of challenges and historical/fantasy play styles and characters, like a stereotypical grandfather who doesn't get tech or someone who simply can't afford to have a fancy smart phone. Maybe some people want to disable it for kids and teens because irl many parents don't give their kids phones until they are older.
I see a lot of potential for it to be added as an option even in a game set in modern times.

@BeJaWa I think that's why OFF THE GRID is so popular. I'd love an off the grid pack. It could be fun and challenging.

@AshtontoAshton22 I don't see why superheroes can't be part of a game with vampires, ghosts and aliens. In both S1 and S2, your sim in the Law Enforcement career could become Captain Hero at level 10. In S3, there was a Movie pack that had superhero stuff like costumes, masks, furniture, vehicles and other stuff.

I'd love a Hero pack with the ability to create a superhero the same way you could a vampire, by choosing powers and weaknesses from a ladder. Maybe even build a super cool lair like the Batcave.

I'd also like more off the grid option.. I'd love more areas like the island in Windenburg where you don't see roads.. you can feel or build your own little time bubble there. I do want more along those lines in general but I doubt that will come to this game without serious mods.
