So turning off auto-aging will make pets completely immortal? That’s ridiculous.
Hey SimGurus: Some of us play with aging OFF - and use the bday cake to age Sims manually. Eliminating that option for Pets is unacceptable. Could you not figure out how to make Pets work with the bday cake? Or is this just another one of those arcane decisions you guys seemingly always make?

Please keep the discussion out of this thread, thanks! I don't want it to get sidetracked from being an info thread.

It feels like I say this about most new packs but this is my favorite one yet. Which is good since it means TS4 is steadily improving
If you say that, it's because they keep getting better.
In my opinion they're definitely improving. Not only that but it seems to me like they're listening more to our opinions than they've done in the past.
So turning off auto-aging will make pets completely immortal? That’s ridiculous.
You're entitled to your opinion. All my sims are immortal and I never age them. I don't think it's ridiculous.
I was instructed to take my opinion elsewhere, but to respond it depends on whether you’re trying to make them immortal or not. Me having aging off isn’t meant to make sims immortal, but to give me total control over when they age/die/etc. Having the option to manually age Sims and not pets is ridiculous.

I do get your point, I liked doing that with my Sims 3 game. Maybe they'll add a cheat to let you age them manually. I think there was one for Sims 3, but I could be mistaken.

I see what you mean, and I can imagine some player's stories might not go as smoothly as planned without the option to manually age them. I like my pets and sims being immortal because I put so much work into making them perfect, if they died I'd lose that work plus if they age there just isn't the time for them to do what I want them to, at the pace I want.
I don't want my sims to be immortal, I just want to control when they age. This is possible with human sims, I just want it possible for pet sims, too.
Hey, all. I'm an aging-off player concerned about this too, but this isn't the place. Please don't take my info topic off-topic. It makes it less useful to the people who have come to know what to expect from it.

Here's some info from the CAP Livestream on Twitch, which will still be available on Twitch after it's done:
Animal eyes can be cross eyed.
Dogs can have an underbite.
Crop tail is an available option, not only on Manx cats.
There are different available furs, not only limited to species choice.
There is a Roomba and cats can ride it (editorial comment from me: OMG!!!!!)
There are separate pet names for randomization.
There’s a chow swatch that looks like a panda!
There are three different poodles, with different hair.
The left and right ears are not separately chosen but some dog ears are up/down combinations.
Tails sometimes stop wagging in CAP but that’s so you can manipulate them; they do wag in game.
You can adopt a stray.
If you leave paint on and change breed, you keep your paint job (but can remove it).
Dogs don’t have different walk styles but they do have emotional walks; if they did different walks they’d never have been able to finish the game (apparently that’s really development intensive!)
The wait for birth is shorter, they do show while pregnant, birth is much like for Sims.
Lot trait: Breeding Ground - more likely to have more pet babies.
Can’t have furrier ears than the body - not separately choosable.
One reason it takes a long time to get pets out is they have to fundamentally rebuild engine for four-legged creatures.
The dacshund (sp???) is there but has too-long legs because they couldn't do a third body size for them.
The next livestream is in two weeks, and yes there will be a gameplay livestream. (Oh, and that's the one that's in two weeks.)

Re not adding small pets: Feedback on previous versions was that there was never enough to do with cats & dogs so they decided to go deep with them instead of also adding small pets.
There aren't costumes/clothes for kittens and puppies.
Re. horses, says Grant: "We cannot talk about future content" but also "That is not a confirmation that they are happening or not happening" and please don't yell at him about it.
No, there aren't pet careers. Training is cool but not tedious.
Cats and dogs can't be sold at a store.
There aren't service dogs, but pets do love you.

The stream has been going on for nearly an hour and we've barely seen any cat breeds so far. Cats & Dogs? More like Dogs & Dogs.
I *think* I just heard them say they'll go back to cats in a few.

New roof type (types??) will be in the free patch!
Also:
You don't have to have a collar to walk your dog.
Cats "jump on basically everything"
The new radio station is Singer Songwriter.
There are not pet allergies.
You can't walk your cat.
There are ghost pets but not ghost puppies.
Dogs and cats can only die of old age. The reason for this was that they found it too disturbing in gameplay otherwise in their own test playing.
There is a townie called Mayor Whiskers. (I think that's a townie cat?)
Pets can enter most lots but not Sixam.
The pets are voiced by real people. (Also, there are people who only record cat and dog voices for a living! And there are people who specialize in fox voices and raccoon voices!)
Dogs can be trained in agility. Training is a Sim skill. (edited - thanks @MidnightAura !)
The world has 3 neighbourhoods + 1 special one. (Will show that stuff in two weeks.)
Big dogs can jump on counters but little dogs can't jump up there.
Pets can eat people food.
You can travel with cats, though you can't walk them on a leash.
There are no pet contests.
You can make gourmet pet food.
There will be strays around the world.
Cats, small dogs, and puppies can be carried.
Many of the the dogs can sleep on Sim beds.
You can set "natural" or "fixed" (neutered) in CAP with the three dots.
Cats can't swim; they put the effort in development instead in things that cats commonly do that are different from dogs.
Pets can run away and come back.
Dogs chase cats.
Pets live 3-4 Sim weeks if you start with an adult on Normal life span.
There are not dog houses. There are cat condos/trees.
Runaway cats/dogs can come back pregnant (!!)
There are not three-legged animals because everything would need reanimating so would limit other development, but also because it's sad/depressing. (editorial comment from me: there seems to be a nudge against making things that are depressing in game, even if we wouldn't all find it depressing)
There's a category for going-for-a-walk dog clothes.
The robot-cleaning thing can clean up pet messes. Pets can be potty-trained.

I thought they said dogs couldn't improve in agility, the training improvement went to the sim, not the pet, they could get better but it wasn't a skill for them?

Anybody else want one for their human sim, too?

Yeah, it took them a while. They had to apologize because people - myself included - were getting annoyed.
