Since I've started this save file, the lighting has been horrible,In other saves it's fine but in my main one the stairs are dark when placed indoors,I have no CC/Mods and I am not on laptop mode.I know it's a problem with the save game but does anyone know what I can do

If it is in this one save game where you have the issue , perhaps you could save your sims household and their home to your library and then start a new save game file. Then you could place them and their home into the new game file.

would that remove traits and relationships?
Hello.
Your sims will keep their traits, but will lose the relationships that they have with other sims in the world that are not in their household. They will also lose what is in their inventories and their collections.

I found the problem wasn't with the save,Every household in any save, the stairs appear black if there is a roof or the stairs don't lead into a flat roof
Check to make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date.
Remove any mods and see if that helps.
If you have continued issues, could you please post a picture of your issue? You can upload pictures to a picture sharing site, then post the link here. You will need to post the link by breaking it up though, such as h.ttp because you are still a new member and can't post links yet.

Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Start a new game and test to see if the stair issues have been fixed. Exit the game and then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders, testing after replacing each one to see how the game is working.

Despite a new file, the stairs still are black
I will see if @BryonyRae may know the cause.

> From the picture, I'm not seeing black stairs - the ones I see are grey. However, I'm assuming that's not the color you chose for them. It would be helpful to see a screen shot of the same stairs when they are not black, i.e. when they aren't under a roof or are going up to a flat roof.

But that's the bad news too. It's just more evidence of the lighting problems in the game, particularly when it comes to interior lighting. We have discussed lighting issues on our Build Mode Feedback thread (see pgs. 27-29), and we have requested that devs overhaul the lighting, which would include an issue like this. I am going to add the above screen shot and this thread to our discussion. There's nothing that can be done about it right now, I'm afraid. I was going to suggest using debug lights to brighten the stairs, but they had zero impact in my game. Even all of the huge windows and ceiling lights I tossed in couldn't brighten it up much. The difference between the outside color and indoor color is huge.
