Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

So here's another fun game for you. For those who know, there was a famous quiz show of the same name where adults compete with 5th graders on 5th grade questions.

The game is pretty straightforward. The host will post a question from the 1st to 5th grade, and everyone gets a chance to answer. The answer will be revealed and the next question will be posted as soon as someone gets the correct answer.

I'll play the host for now, but for anyone interested in looking up 5th grade questions on Google (or from the actual show itself) to post here, simply post that you're interested, and you get to play host till you're tired of it. I didn't want to make everyone who answers next a host because people might be too lazy (or busy) to look up questions. But hey, if enough people are interested, I'll change it to a "next poster asks another question" format instead.

Rules:
o Each round, questions from different grades will be asked. You earn points based on which grade they are from, meaning:
  • 1st grade question - 1 point
  • 2nd grade question - 2 points
  • 3rd grade question - 3 points
  • 4th grade question - 4 points
  • 5th grade question - 5 points
o Each member can only provide a single answer for each question.
o No editing your post, meaning you can't change your answer as soon as you posted it.
o Anyone who answers 10 questions correctly in a row gets to answer a 6th grade question worth 10 points.
o Don't use Google to look up the answers if you could (help yourself).

So, here's your very first 5th grade question:

Plymouth Rock, the site where the Pilgrims landed in 1620, is located in what U.S. state?
    A. Virginia
    B. Massachusetts
    C. New Hampshire

    Correct. Idontrcall gets the point.

    Next one:

The mathematical expression (4x2) x 5 = 4 x (2x5) is an example of which property of multiplication?
    A. Associative property
    B. Commutative property
    C. Transitive property

I did not learn that math question in 5th grade! lol. I didn't even learn it in college. What is this math of which you speak?

    A. Yes, it's associative. But just a note, @OminousFlare, I didn't learn that in 5th grade either. The superior schools in Singapore might expect their ten-year-olds to know this, but here in 'Murica we didn't get around to the formal definitions until high school. Maybe this is why we're falling behind on international tests, but we'd need some advanced statistics to figure it out for sure, and most of us can't be bothered.

lol I don't know. I just copy it off a screenshot from the gameshow itself, so it has to be a 5th grade question.

And correct. Another point to Idontrcall.

@puzzleaddict Actually, those screenshots I mentioned might be rigged, so I'm going to rely on questions from the actual show itself from now on, instead of Google.

Alright. You all are doing good, but I just learned about more rules from the gameshow (haven't seen it in a long time, so I forgot), so I'm going to shake things up now with even more rules that will earn you even more points.

For your convenience, I'll post the new rules here as well:

o There will be questions from different grades. You earn points based on which grade they are from, meaning:
    • 1st grade question - 1 point
    • 2nd grade question - 2 points
    • 3rd grade question - 3 points
    • 4th grade question - 4 points
    • 5th grade question - 5 points
o Anyone who answers 10 questions correctly in a row gets to answer a 6th grade question worth 10 points.

And finally, not a rule, but there won't be any more answer choices for questions from now on (seems like the show actually didn't provide any choices either... lol). So yeah, it gets harder from now.

Now, your next question, a 4th grade grammar question:
In the sentence, 'Questlove is a very good drummer', what part of speech is the word "very"?

Would any one else like to give it a shot?

By the way, a talk show host gave the same answer you did, @rosey1579. Just to put that into perspective.

    Adverb^^

AND THAT'S CORRECT! 4 points to AlpineCuriosity!

Just for the record, the talk show host was Jimmy Fallon. lol I didn't want to mention names because I didn't want you to look up the video.

Our next question is supposed to be a 4th grade spelling question... but obviously, we can't do spelling here. lol So instead, it's now a math question:

Name the type of triangle this is:

    Isosceles triangle?

    Isosceles triangle?
And Alpine is on a roll - another 4 points!

Alright, time to give the others a chance, so here's a true or false question - worth 5 points:
True or false? The front range in Colorado is where the Great Plains meet the Appalachians?

First lucky member who gets the right answer gets 5 points.

I boo because I am jealous that I don’t have a great plain. Only a plain. And that’s a pain.

But you are great, so that makes up for it -- just a little.

As plain as plain can be: They thought for you and me the night they invented champagne.

And that's correct. 5 points to Idontrcall.

Here's an easier one, a 2nd Grade Grammar question:
How many apostrophes should be in the following sentence? "Phil works down the arches, hes a dab hand at changing number plates and fitting radios."

Yeah, this is an easy one that sees, yet again, who answers the fastest.

I should walk about on the plain. Perhaps I shall become synonymous with it and earn a rename.
