Unable to place a house on lot

Hello, I'm trying to place a 30x40 house on 50x50 empty lot but doesn't work. I've never had this glitch before. Also other smaller empty lots are shown as available for this house too. Esc key doesn't work. It's stuck on my mouse cursor, and follows everywhere in this world. Is it only me having this issue? There's only way to stop this is force quitting.

Even though the lot is empty you sometimes have to bulldoze the lot to be able to place the house. I'm guessing you bulldozed the house but you may have to bulldoze the lot a second time before placing the new house. If you can't do that and are completely stuck you would have to force quit in task manager

No there was no house on that lot. It's completely empty from the beginning in Isla Paradiso. You can see it's empty in your isla paradiso world too. Ahh sorry the empty lot is actually 60x60. I'm experiencing this issue 3 times in Isla Paradiso.

I think your guess is right about alienware because recently, I've been having error code 12, 3 times so far. Force quitting while traveling to Egypr from Home world. Having lagging in Egypt and China too. Feels like I got the lower spec of computer than my I mac. I haven't had this issue on i mac. Rarely having force quitting from room temperature. No lags with full graphic settings too. I think I got the terrible laptop. :(

Egypt, China, and of course Isla Paradiso are all worlds with design flaws built in. Egypt's major one concerns a bridge on the world lot where sims keep getting stuck. We all have issues playing these worlds with impact ranging from minor annoyances to them being outright unplayable in the case of Isla Paradiso unless one takes major steps to fix up the worlds. Bridgeport also has issues because of some broken parts of the world lot, the infestation of elevators that can break routing, and inactive sims who keep trying to instantiate (materialize) inside of the blacked out NPC areas of their apartment buildings and then can't get out.

None of these worlds are fair to use to judge a computer's performance with the game even if you use EllaCharmed's fixed .world files, take other steps to improve them, and deploy the usual NRaas mods to fix other more routine things. In fact, the game engine running on better computers will likely push inactive resident sims out of their houses into the community more, and thus into the problem areas more, so in a crazy kind of way higher end computers can actually make things feel worse in some of these worlds. When inactive sims you aren't necessarily even paying any attention to are being pushed around but become route stuck or almost so, the game engine on any computer system will go crazy constantly trying to re-route them thousands of times per second (or minute, anyway) thus dragging everything down in the process.

Even some of the empty lots placed by EA you sometimes need to bulldoze before you can place a house on a lot. I have experienced this issue before where EA had something on the lot that was blocking the placement of a house. Could be a spawner etc. i can't tell you if it is one of those lots. You would have to test it.

Error code 12 is caused by not having enough computer memory. You should save frequently. Especially if your in build mode. If you got error codes you may have bad saves. I would check your save folder and get rid of any saves with "Bad" on the end of them

I've placed the Store casino venue on that lot. I don't remember if I had to bulldoze it first, like @phoebebebe13 suggests. Not being able to place a house or venue on an empty lot is a fairly common issue for me, particularly in ongoing games. I always place something on the empty lot (like floor tiles) first so that the bulldozer tool doesn't delete the lot grid. Then bulldoze, and then almost always I can place the house or venue.

I've never had the house or venue stick to the cursor though. That's worrisome. I don't know what to do about that.

Also, I've never played on EA's version of Isla Paradiso. I used @ciane 's version here:

    http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/811253/removing-ip-lag/p1

I didn't have any lag with that version, it played as well as any other EA world. I had minimal routing issues which I could easily fix myself. I thought ellacharmed's route fix version caused some terrain tearing at a few lot boundaries so I took that out.
