You Know You're Truly Sleep-Deprived When …

GalacticGalGalacticGal Posts: 28,570 Member
You find your Sims taking the long route, outside of the home you just built for them to get to the kitchen in the rear of the house. And you can't figure out why for the first several times it happens. And, then it dawns on you to have a look with the walls fully up. The archway through the dining room was mysteriously missing! D'oh. What I wouldn't give for a decent night's sleep.

Share your moments of insanity. LOL

I once tried eating tinned seaweed - ie edible seaweed.

It tasted like normal seaweed you would find on a beach.

I regretted giving it a go.

I found myself drinking hot chocolate while also having ice cold water. I had no clue what I was doing.

The very thought of seaweed makes me shudder. I'm not really keen on ice cold water, either, let alone alongside my hot chocolate. Thanks for your responses! I just know I'm dangerously tired. LOL

Well, I thought it would taste different - I assumed edible seaweed would be somewhat tasty. It tastes like regular seaweed - there is nothing to like - it is possibly one of the most aggressive things I have ever eaten in terms of being conned.

With me it's usually, "Where are those plum-ing car keys?!"

Then I notice ten seconds later they're in my hand.

When I was taking care of my mom I averaged about two hours of sleep a night for 7 years. I have far too many incidents to pick just one.

You listening to the sounds of a lush waterfall, which turns out to be red Gatorade spilling on some very white carpet at your friend's home the night before your wedding.

Last week, I was sitting in the office before going out to work, and as I was looking at my phone, my vision was getting blurry and I felt dizzy. Closed my eyes for a bit before we went out.

My story definitely isn't as funny, but I definitely need to get myself more sleep at times, lol.

My friends, mind you they literally live across the world, so timezones and everything, wonders when i sleep. I am here when they sleep, when they are awake. No matter the time difference.
So when they ask me when do i sleep, i say "i don't"

I really had a very difficult time with sleep for like 3-4 days over the weekend (it was a long weekend for me, most unrelaxing weekend ever). So for TWELVE HOURS Monday night-Tuesday morning I was running an hour ahead (okay I slept a couple of those hours so I wasn't watching the time. Only a couple, not enough). There were A LOT of clues. A LOT. But I didn't clue in until a few minutes after my shift started at work on Tuesday. And after I spent several minutes trying to figure out if there was a recent time change, if the till clocks were delayed, or ahead. Or what.

Nope, it was me. I was an hour early, from the time I set my alarm the night before. I can't even tell time on a digital clock apparently, an idiot proof clock and I can't use it.

I also got all the way home from work. Long trip home (the construction and how dumb it is right now are a whole other story. My area is a DISASTER). I was tired, in loads of pain, beyond miserable. I go to dig my keys out of my pocket. They weren't there. They were in my locker at work. I knew I was forgetting something when I left, I just had that feeling. But I couldn't figure it out at my locker with my keys in front of my face. Thought maybe I just left my hand cream or *my* pen at my till, something like that, stopped to check on my way out, nothing. I literally cried at the thought I might have to go back to the store to get them. Thankfully my mom was home to let me in.

Yep, I was really on the ball yesterday :/

Edit: I was running an hour ahead, not behind. I was really tired last night, too lol.

@dreamerz13 Oh, my, now that's truly a rough day! I hope you are better rested, now. Interesting how we can't truly function when sleep-deprived. I get to a point in the afternoons, usually, after sleepless nights in a row, where I'll declare, "I've hit the Wall." Then, when I find myself doing some really silly stuff I say, "I'm flat-lining or running s. t. u. P. i. d." (unintelligent)

Yes, I am an Insomniac to a large degree. Neurologist is working to help fix this ongoing problem.

I locked the main door and forgot about it 2 minutes later. I spent the next 30 minutes being puzzled about why they take the back door instead!

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. It took me far too many times to realize something was causing a problem. LOL Makes you feel silly, doesn't it? My only saving grace was how sleep-deprived I was and am.

I think among other things, our guards are down when we're over-tired. I know I'm far more sensitive and more readily inclined to tears, too.

Well, unless my mom has to do dishes, i'm home alone,my dad is off and both my parents go to take a nap in their room, or i go to my parent's room (i have a split level home with a big downstairs area where my parents sleep), i only get alone time in between 2 and 4 hours before i go to bed. And around 90 mins before hand, i get really tired. I Do weird stuff when i'm alone, like i read stuff aloud, talk to myself, and play UT and read out what the characters are saying in the voices i made for them. How do i know i'm sleep deprived? I'm in a rush to do what i wanted to do before bed and listen to music (if i do it while my parents are up, they always say stuff like "What are you listening to?" and stuff).

Okay, that post was too long. Sorry :D

I somehow or other managed to misspell my own name... on a GCSE exam paper... needless to say the test did not go particularly well :s
I've also tipped my scalding cup of tea the wrong way (away from my mouth) resulting in me burning myself... that's usually a good sign that it's time to sleep....

I went without sleep for 48 hours once when our furnace broke down andi it would take a few days to get it fixed. It was too cold to get to sleep anyways and I was tired out once we had a furnace and a warm house again.

Thanks for the responses, All! Thankfully, I've managed to get more sleep over these past few days. Yay! I can function again, but I do notice it doesn't stop the endless typos … :open_mouth:
