CC Amounts and Essentials

Having just reinstalled ts2 (yet again lol), I am hoping to get more organised with my cc. I have not downloaded any new stuff in a long, long time but I do have all my old stuff that I used to use, saved onto an external drive.

What I am wondering is whether there are many amazing new items out there I should go looking for - or old things that people really can't do without which I may have missed.

Also, is there a limit to how much the game will take before it starts protesting?

I have to admit to liking lots and lots of recolours so that I can match every single darn thing into a particular colour scheme, so I hunt for colour matches all over the place. Is there a list somewhere of game content so I can keep track of which items I have found recolours for and which I need to look for? Maybe some other OCD soul out there has shared an excel chart or something? *looks hopefully at you all*

I have a ton of mods/cc in my game and it has been fine but I do have a good PC. I found things could become problematic when I was trying to create different styles of homes and downloading a lot of build/buy and hood decoration CC to use on a larger hood so since those days I have tried to calm down a little and use recolours instead of just downloading everything I see and then work out what sort of build/buy items I cannot do without.

Also, all my Mods/CC are itemized in my folders and named by creator then backed up so if I ever require to start a new 2 folder I simply place my CC/mods directly folders back into my downloads folder or if I need to go looking for something I can usually find it because I have the creator name.

A lot of the sites I have included are still creating new stuff for sims 2 as most are current dedicated sims 2 creator sites.

You mentioned you like recolours so I will begin with that the following 2 creators are my very favourite for recolours.

    http://modthesims.info/member.php?u=2668015

Icad also does some fantastic recolours and build/buy mode objects

    http://dramallamadingdang.tumblr.com/indexed_downloads

Also while I am sure you do not require this pointing out I will add it just to be sure, the CEP program is neccessary for recolors to show up in the game.

    http://modthesims.info/d/92541

Whatever CC you like next depends what you cannot live without personally I have to have my CC in the following order:

Lilith skin blends. I use default skin but I think she does a non-default somewhere, I also use her nose masks as well, but any of her CC including hair/make up has been safe to use for me and has never caused a problem in my game.

I am also currently using Lilith’s eye defaults Moyseyb windowseat with an Alfred Askew blend and if you scroll through her blogsite you will find everything you need.

    http://lilith-sims.tumblr.com/tagged/Downloads

I use Katu's default face templates

    http://modthesims.info/d/283674

Once I have skin face shapes/noses sorted I move onto make up which I use a lot from Bruno at mod the sims

    http://modthesims.info/m/11431

Then I move onto hair and again Lilith, mod the sims, and lately a lot of hair from Digital Angels (be careful with Digital Angels there is enough delicious CC to blow your PC up if you go mad :)

    http://digitalangels.tumblr.com/

After I am satisfied I have good looking sims with modern hairstyles I move onto clothes and again I use a lot from mod the sims as I have never had a problem with CC from this site ever, also

Always sims has good modern male and female clothes

    http://www.alwayssims.com.br/

sims York city has some gorgeous clothes

    http://simsyorkcity.blogspot.co.uk/

    Deedee sims for clothes/hair

    http://deedee-sims.tumblr.com/downloads

dont forget older CC sites such as Liana and Milano sims still have some great stuff even if some is a little dated

    http://www.lianasims2.net/

    http://www.milanosims2.com/

A mix of nice male and female clothes

    http://miwisims.tumblr.com/tagged/ts2-cc

    http://sanneke94.tumblr.com/

    http://2fingerswhiskey.livejournal.com/

    http://rented-space.tumblr.com/tagged/Downloads

I think that's maybe enough for you to be going on with-) let me know if you are looking for something specific as I may have seen it somewhere on my CC travels :)

I think this shows with reasonable CC/Skins/Hair/clothes etc sims 2 sims can be made to look quite stunning :)

Oh i forgot to mention the hair Database you can look up any style of retextured hair by each creator

    http://allthehairs.podserver.info/?i=1

    3T2 conversion database

there is also a 4t2 conversion database however it is not being updated regularly but still has some good stuff

    http://ts4tots2conversions.tumblr.com/

I don't use the sims 2 default database that much but a lot of players use it so I have included it for you to take a look

I wish I had pics of the stuff I've already got, cos I can't remember what most of the hair and clothes are like. But I know that I have absolutely no skins or make-up cos I never ever thought of downloading those before. I do have a lot of Maxis Match sets (mainly MSBarrows) and my all-time favourite sets were the Little Thinker ones from NoFrills.

I have a heap load of TS3->TS2 conversions but I remember I had to take them out and start testing a few at a time as something amongst them caused my game to crash.

I dug out my external hard drive and I have about 2 GB of downloads saved on there, but I think that is nowhere near the amount I am seeing using your links.

Do you ever go shopping and see so much stuff you'd like that you can't make up your mind what to take home? This is like that :D

lol re the shopping-) I know all the links look like too much but I am careful about the amount of CC I download from each so not to go overboard.

make a list of what is really important to you for example when I started over I took the time to really explore what I could use from the game and what I would like to be added as extras so as I said before I really like good looking sims so experimented with various skins, face/nose templates and eyes and once I had chosen those moved on to make up, hair, jewellery tattoos and false nails.

Once this was completed I went through clothes in every category for every age group trying a few out at time keeping favourites.

Next was buy mode items but like you I downloaded a lot of recolours so I had more choice and then only downloaded items/objects that modernized homes/lots up. From there to build mode for paint/wallpaper and I particularly love wood and brick CC for my exteriors.

My final choices right now are using water, weather, terrain/grass CC along with neighbourhood deco in an effort to make my own hood from start to finish the way I really want it. Sims 2 for me has been the most difficult map for me to work with because I am not very talented at this despite knowing what I want-) however when I do get something finished to my liking it made the effort worth it.

While you are testing everything out take pics so you can go back and look at your achievements, I would love to see some pics of whatever you are doing as you go along :)

    Have fun :)

Ha ha, being a very impatient person I am going to try hard to restrain myself from going wild. So thanks for the tips @SPARKY1922

I just loaded up with default skin, some eyelashes and eyes (and nothing else!) I am amazed at what a difference the eyes make!! I have never had any kind of CAS assets before in ts2 (except clothing) so these are stunning me.

She went from this (I had already added the eyelashes here):
    Sims2EP9%202017-04-03%2019-53-57-54.jpg?dl=0

    To this:
    Sims2EP9%202017-04-03%2019-54-05-21.jpg?dl=0

That's already a pretty good improvement.
    Sims2EP9%202017-04-03%2019-54-35-82.jpg?dl=0

Next I think I need eyebrows and lippy :)

wow your sim looks lovely, the skin is beautiful and the eyelashes are just right, sims 2 sims are so beautiful with these little changes. Do not go wild lol as once you have the skin/face templates/the makeup and hair you like then it just takes time to sift through all the clothes and decide what you want to keep.

If you want to test, make up next try Bruno out on MTS I gave you the link and you will find he has a lot of beautiful make up which means you don’t have to download much from anywhere else if you don't want to so you will always know where you got it from.

I use Lilith eyebrows which I found on the following link (scroll down half way for the download link) there is also some great hair downloads on the same page.

nice male facial hair halfway down the page

I look forward to seeing more of your sim creations :)

Btw for a actual amount of cc for me is 15 gbs +. Just be careful cause the more cc you have the longer it takes to load.
    Sims Games I like to play - Sims 2 / Sims Medieval / Sims 2 Pets ( Wii ) / MySims / MySims Kingdom ( Wii )

OMG you guys have a lot! Makes my 2GB look small :D

@nanashi-sims I love hugelunatic and fanseelamb, I already have loads of their stuff. I am slowly working my way through the default replacement database after sparky gave me the link. I will google your suggestions and see what I can find, thank you.

    @nanashi-sims

You and @TiaDog have CC folder sizes that even make my eyes water :)

love the list there are a couple on there I have not seen before so I will be off to explore those as if I need any more Mods/CC-) :) I love the sleep on community mod as I make the parks into little camping grounds. I also like the skill up on community lots mod then the Gym, Library and community lots can become learning centres outside the home in the hood.

    @elanorbreton

it's not really about the amount in size but what you want to see in your game that makes you happy with the end result. I did the same with mods as I played the game I made a note of what I wanted to change and then went and found a mod to try out. I am still looking for some decent vampire mods as I find the sims 2 vampires quite difficult to play but the ones I have tried that are available are bugged when I try to use them in my game so I am still on the lookout for some things myself.

looking forward to more pics :)

I have finally chosen skin, face templates, eyes, brows, eyeshadow, lipstick, lashes and some hair. Here's the sim I tried them out on:

    Sims2EP9%202017-04-05%2018-45-46-43.jpg?dl=0

I'm not 100% happy with her as she seems to kind of stretch the eyeshadow between her eyes and her brows, but I don't know if that is the game or the shadow itself.

Your sim looks lovely I like the skin, eyes, eyebrows and nose shape and although you mention the eyes maybe being a little off she would do for me lol I went through several default face templates programs before settling on the one I currently use yet the game still appears to make small changes to me so sims do look different. Have you enjoyed getting to this point? It takes time but it is so satisfying I think when you have the end result you were looking for.

I am assuming it will be clothes next?

I have just spent my free time for the last 2 days concentrating on my neighbourhood CC bane of my life :)

Lol, have you done much actual playing? I am just dying to get on and play :D

After I took that picture above, I realised that if I don't use defaults that the pre-made sims will not have the beautiful eyes etc. Lucky for me, I found the exact same eyes which someone had made defaults, but I have had to choose different eyebrows.

Not sure what to do about clothes, I may just add the ones I already have as I collected a whole heap of them years ago which I kept backed up and then maybe add some as I play (if I then realise there is something I am lacking).

I might move on to Lots next and get my hoods set up, as I just downloaded @nanashi-sims awesome rabbithole conversions plus the required fences, terrains etc. I once made a community garden with perfect veggies in, so I will probably download that and add that in, and then go on the prowl for some other interesting lots.

No I have not actually played 2 for the last couple of days because my dream is to have this one particular hood all kitted out looking the best I can make it then decorate all my lots and make tons of sim families to add into the hood however if I get fed up I have a great pleasantview hood I have been playing for a while that I can go back to so I will still get my play needs met :)

With cc clothes it took me a while to work out what I like on my sims because honestly while I don't mind 3t2 modern clothes I feel sometimes they don't look as good on sims 2 sims as clothes that are actually made for them if that makes sense so after a massive initial download I made a note of what I thought looked good and what to take out so these days I never have to think about clothes CC much apart from something I see while I am surfing and decide to have it as I have already done the hard work sifting through everything I wanted and am now happy with what I have got.

There is a wonderful small/cute community garden lot by a great creator on MTS and I always use this lot in my hoods along with a couple of mods so when sims are picking their veggies and fruit from that lot they have to pay for the produce despite no sim owning the lot. There is a description of how to do this on the creator site and if this is something you feel you would like I will find the link for you.

here is pick of my sim in the community garden:

@elanorbreton Your sim looks very nice. For clothes, I can recommend Liana Sims 2 or Anna Maria Sims 2, apart from Mod the Sims.

@SPARKY1922 The picture of the community garden looks lovely. I didn't know you could plant something on community lots.

It is a reall nice lot called Organic Community Gardens by joandsarah77 on MTS also included in the link is a description of how to plant on the lot and then pick the produce. I also have a mod so sims have to pay when they pick the produce :)
