Is this a joke? Are we really getting bowling for our next pack?
Who even plays bowling anymore?? I live downtown DC, and there's like one bowling alley connected to a movie theater AND it's either completely dead or full of old people.
Couldn't we have like...I don't know... another vacation destination? a sports pack?! Like soccer or football or even tennis? You know? A popular sport people actually play these days?

I'm really happy to see it back. I liked it a lot in TS2, it's a great opportunity for funny animations and it will be a new activity for my families, my groups of coworkers, my teens. Bowling are very much still a thing where I live.
Bowling is boring. Lame. Uneventful. And outdated.
Cosmopolitan magazine even voted bowling as doozer place for dates.
....
Why not boxing Or karate?
Boxing or karate sound far less fun since they aren't group activities. Soccer or tennis could be interesting too (though more for a summer pack than one to be released in March). I wouldn't buy a football pack, too niche.
"Group activity"
Like basketball in CL?
They completely ruined it and made it lame by making it turn base. Turn base sports like bowling are boring and should not be considered a "group activity".
Well I agree with all that you've said. Bowling Pack does not sound overly exciting to me either. I'd probably use it once in my game and then never bother again
My Sims 3 blog, Back to the Sims 3
Sadly there seems to be a general reluctance to try out new ideas these days
But i'm not going to complain, people who loves bowling (and actually plays it, yes they exist because this is a popular activity, maybe not where you live) got their packs and i'm happy for them.
Anyway, the Pack must be nearly (or already) finish because the new quarter starts in April i think, so they are going to release it soon.
I had major reservations about spa day, and now it is one of my favorite packs with the whole yoga bit ... so, I will wait to see what is all in the pack before i decide if it is worthwhile or not.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the bowling pack, if only to have one more new thing for my sims to do on a date and to get some sweet bowling shirts in CAS (I have one household I'm steadily perfecting based on the characters from my novels, one of whom wears funky bowling shirts all the time). I get that you're...less than thrilled with this new pack, but you can do the same thing with it that I've done with Cool Kitchen and the backyard pack put it on your "Probably never gonna buy this" list. Hopefully, the next thing to come out after the bowling pack will be more to your liking, though. The devs really do seem to be trying to put out a little something for everyone lately...I think it's their New Year's Resolution.
Still waiting for:
1. Pool Tables
2. Volleyball -- in the pool too!
3. Sim Gnubb or similar family game
4. Playing Catch w/Football/Frisbee/Baseball
5. Bocce Ball or Croquet
6. Mini Golf
7. Badminton

The Sims Game
There had better be. It's okay to have a bowling alley thing (like the water slide) but frankly, I couldn't bear that being the only truly new feature. And a bowling skill? What use is that? It's useful for exactly one thing - bowling. Like the organ skill, but somehow worse because the organ came with vampires. Sure, it's something of a group activity but... well... bowling is a very specialised thing. And it's a pretty big thing to put in your home.
As this is a stuff pack I'm not expecting any other objects, I think if we are lucky we will get a bowling venue, some decorative items with a bowling theme and some bowling shirts. Not expecting anything else like photo booths or anything.
And I know, people will say: "it allows us to get the best bowling ever dividing the content" but it's bowling.. how can they improve upon bowling from the sims 2 and 3? The only way I can think of is to have a dedicated bowling skill but even typing that I don't think it's all that, as bowling skill tied into body skill in the sims 2. As it's a stuff pack I don't have high expectations in terms of content we can realistically expect.
It was explained waaaaay back at launch that there can't be recycled animations for Sims 4. Every animation you see is newly created for this game.
Or they noticed that in many an Ideas Corner thread about the need for more group activities, going right back to launch day, there's been many requests for bowling specifically.
Personally, I'm all for it. I get a kick out of the range of animation for darts in this game - the fail states, the braggart animations... There's a lot of potential for a range of entertaining animation for this object too, and Sims 4 has been good with showing us more than just two or three ways Sims do an action. I'm anticipating that, like darts, Sims 4 bowling with be nonboring for me compared with earlier Sims bowling, which I never found met the potential the game has for entertainment.
I've never heard of bowling as a carnival activity in the real world. I wouldn't want a carnival pack watered down with activities that aren't associated at all with carnivals. There's plenty of activities that actually happen at carnivals to fill at least a gamepack without needing to be watered down. I got tired of watered down packs in the past. Why was University watered down with relatively lame bowling? I'd rather have had more university (and better bowling, which at $10, not some $3 corner of an unrelated EP, I suspect this can be). Etc., etc. Stuffing items together doesn't make for better development. Look at how fully fleshed out Vampires are when they get a whole GP - $20 of development - to themselves instead of being a corner of an EP or stuffed in with 4 or 5 other supernaturals! Sure, we pay more, but we get more for that money.
Then again, those essentials I was talking about certainly require more time and effort than a stuff pack, and for all we know they might already be working on it anyway. If they can find time to create additional packs, why not?
Something wicked this way comes!
I don't use MCCC.
