For this tutorial it is helpful to have a good understanding of photoshop! I am not going to answer questions on how to use it. This can also be done with gimp
This is a tutorial on how to get pictures like this:
This will tell you how to keep those strands of hair when changing the background of a picture
1. Firstly choose your background and a picture of your sim, these are the pictures I’m going to use:
(this will only work if your sim is on a white background like this)
2. First thing to do is open photoshop with both of your pictures. And then copy the background picture on top of the picture of your sim
Be sure to keep the background on top of the picture of you sim or it will not work!
3. Next while layer 2 is still selected click on the box which has “normal” written on it, this is on the layer window. When you have clicked it select multiply
This is what the image should look like once multiply is selected
4. The next thing to do is rub out the inside of the sim with layer 2
still selected using the rubber.
Use a large blurry brush to get rid of the background on top of the middle of the sim. Once you have done that get a smaller brush to rub out the edges neatly, don't forget to leave the very edge of the hair un-rubbed out.
(Here is a picture of layer 2 in "normal" setting to see what you have actually rubbed out)
5. Once you are happy with your work flatten the image and save it!
If you do not fully understand watch this or ask me a question!

Thank you Claireyyy! and I'm glad this helped!
This helps immensely
when I discovered it
yeah it works in Gimp as well. The youtube video is me doing it in gimp.
Side note - BritNic and I are in the finals of Ethnic Diversity Modeling, and I plan for this to be my best picture yet! Apparently she does too :-)
Great tutorial! This should be made into a story to get more attention by those not able to post on the forums.
Dolphin I may turn this into a story but it depends wether I can be bothered.
After she has her baby I'll upload her
I've got both the layers pulled up, my picture with the white background is there, but...
How do you make the background that you want to have Layer 1?
See, I told you it was dumb! :P
