I like them just for the additional variety, but wish they mattered more. For example, people freaking out at aliens at least until / unless a played Sim gets to the end of the Scientist career and does some sort of 'declare aliens friendly' press conference or something.....

Taking notes does seem to be enough to compensate for being late to class, so maybe? (Was late, got a 'did not do as much as others' feedback message at the end of class, reloaded, tried again, still late but took notes and this time 'did great sure to do well on exam' feedback message).

I play with everything on, because I grew up in a place where heavy rain and thunderstorms like that are normal. Yeah the sims freak out until they learn to like it (there are perks to cover these things), but again, that is just normal for me :)

The thing I have noticed with dog walking is that if your Sim is still out with the dog when it is time for them to go to work, there is a very good chance their job will get bugged with them not able to go at all even after you cancel the dog walk.
