  • To me it reminds me of my hometown Boston/Cambridge and the two Universities could be Harvard and MIT. But to be fair Boston is in New England and it is probably one of the most European-like cities in the U.S., so both could be true.
  • I just realized I made a misstatement in my previous post, it's not the rare wands missing, it is 100% of the recolors. I've been able to collect all of the brooms including recolors and all of the original wands. I win duels. None of the wand recolors ever show up.
  • I have the same problem but it's wands only. I have found everything else, but for whatever reason not a single rare wand is showing up in my game. I don't use any mods in my game.
  • I have two new uploads from a world I'm working on, Buchanon Arena and Montague Amusements. Both lots have a bunch of store content but no CC. Buchanon Arena http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=9119674 : This indoor arena has a halfpipe, a surfing pool, a soccer field, a basketball court, a roller skating…
  • Hi Jessa, these are amazing! I've been working on a Martha's Vineyard world for a long time now, but I lost everything when my hard-drive died and had to start over (here's my old thread: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/740617/new-wip-marthas-vineyard#latest). I was wondering what kind of world you are making…
  • I don't know if anyone is still managing the thread about tips and tricks - this should definitely be in there. I will admit that I've been loathe to try water planes in the past because they just seemed beyond my capabilities, but this is straightforward enough that I may end up giving it a try after all. Thanks!
  • Midnight Hollow is a fantastic town, especially if you like building. Yes, it's dark. Yes, it can be hard to play at times. But the new content/items you get are gorgeous, the premade sims and houses are really well done, and you can steal those things for other worlds. As for CAW - I love CAW, but I should warn you - for…
  • Awesome Celebration! I first got into the Sims 2, mostly as a builder and would spend hours just designing houses. I really fell in love with the Sims 3 open worlds and CAW, but I also finally started playing with the Sims themselves. I loved creating sims for all my worlds, often playing out their backstories in the game…
  • If you don't want to build an entire road you might try using just a sidewalk as a dirt path.
  • Roaring heights is my favorite all-around world. Although it's not as fantasy oriented. It's the last store world, and they really killed it. Midnight Hollow is a close second. The overall design and aesthetic is very well done, although the world itself is a bit dark. The store is my favorite pc of all the worlds by far.
  • Question - don't the lots have to be in place for the population that lives in that home? Right now I can't open EIG with even just the "populated" residential lots in place and my CAS content installed to place those sims. Or are you saying that I could place a family onto an empty lot, and then put the building in later?…
  • It is possible. First you have to download Midnight Hollow Ini Files and Color Ramps. You can find those here: http://modthesims.info/t/512923 Then you have to install them in your world. That is a bit more complicated. There is a tutorial here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=459198 that explains what each ini…
  • @TadOlson - Thank you so much!!! That was exactly the problem. I was in such a hurry to see the winter effects/color that I'd turned summer and fall off, that had never occurred to me. I wasn't doing that with the EA worlds so they looked fine. Now clouds are back and I no longer have to look at stars in the middle of a…
  • A while. Long enough to get rain and stuff. The rain comes, but there isn't a cloud in the sky. Which looks especially weird at night when all the stars are shining. I also tried adding my own ini files. That had the same problem, I was able to change the color ramp and I'd get weather but there were no clouds. So I went…
  • Every time you come back to CAW, come back to the same world. Take the time off when you need it. But when you come back, rather than start from scratch, re-visit what you've started already. Eventually you fill find yourself deeper than ever and learning more about computers and CAW and your world will improve. If you do…
  • If you see the ad button you can get a lot of free simpoints. I completed my collection that way. Personally, I would go for the carousel just because it's such a missing piece to so many other lots with the fake carousel that always bothered me. But it really depends on your play style. The manor is lovely architecture,…
  • I might share pictures. The other problem is once I decided my world was unable to be shared I raided the exchange at will, and modified all the lots to my own liking, and don't remember where or who I got them from anymore (it's been a long slow process). I don't want to upload other people's property, and I'm not even…
  • I have a Martha's Vineyard WIP that has been a WIP for a few years now that is similar in scope although on a large map. I swear I will finish it some day. Here are some old pictures:
  • I'm still working on my "everything" world. Unfortunately I can't share it because I used EA height maps/terrain from monte vista and isla paradiso. I'm actually really happy with how it's turning out, but I don't trust my own terrain sculpting and painting to make the world I want. So I'm stuck just making it for myself.…
  • Depends how you play. As a builder - yes absolutely. I build my own worlds or highly tailor every EA world anyway, so the darkness is a non-issue since I'm not actually playing there. The content it adds is spectacular, IMO, from the option to create your own stores, to the architecture, and the CAS. I've repainted a lot…
  • Midnight Hollow is great, but as others have mentioned, a bit dark. I enjoy making things over, and I play in my own world, so I am mostly looking for lots and objects to poach, which Midnight Hollow has in spades. For a great all-around world to play in my favorite is Roaring Heights. I love the theme and urban…
  • If you want all the EP content you will need some islands.
  • I try to break up my world into neighborhoods and give every neighborhood a unique feel. I have all the store worlds installed, so each neighborhood in my world is usually associated with 1-2 worlds/expansion packs. My current world has two urban neighborhoods, the old city and a newer downtown area. The old city is up on…
  • When they start to come on they're usually on for a few weeks/months regularly so you should have some opportunities to get some. But that's just been my experience. Hope they start popping up for you soon.
  • They also just come and go at times. I've had times where I got endless ads and stocked up on simpoints and times where I couldn't get any, then all of a sudden they popped up again without me changing anything. Right now I'm not getting any either but I figure they'll show up again in a month or so. Luckily when it…
  • Roaring Heights is the best world to play in out of all EA worlds, really well done. Prior to Roaring Heights coming out people used to disagree about the best world a lot - no longer. Midnight Hollow has the best premium content of any world - the Midnight Hollow PC makes a fantastic addition to Roaring Heights because of…
  • I don't think anything has changed regarding pre-population. It requires a number of mods to do so, but those mods still exist. Everything has been updated for the current version of CAW. Here is a link to the tutorial.
  • Roaring Heights - it's an urban environment. It's a different style (art-deco), but they can be worked in pretty well. Lucky Palms isn't bad either, it's more of a suburban town, but it has a vegas feel to it and the central area can be built up without it looking off.
  • I'm in the same boat - I have the carts but not the venue. I think I'm finally gonna pick it up, the ads have been very kind lately. Plus, with the ads back up I'm getting closer to the "own the store" mark. Now seems like the best chance to jump on that venue, I'd hate to "pay" full price for something that I already own…
  • I second Roaring Heights. I think the worlds generally got better over time, and so it's no surprise that the last world was the best one overall, IMO. Beautiful, unique, yet still pretty customizable. Has a nice balance of everything and you can tell a lot of work went into the buildings and sims. It's also the only urban…
