@Evalen and anyone else interested in trying the Rebuild the World Challenge, feel free to comment and document your own journeys below.
I am playing around with the
Rebuild the World Challenge v 2.0 (click link for rules).
@angelbearpuppy modified it a bit from the original.
The Lynn Legacy
Part 1
(I decided to give my posts a title.)
I decided to play in
Glenvale County, as it has only the basic community lots and a single house. Glenvale County was created by
@Rflong7 and is available in his studio. You can click the link above to go directly to their world on the Exchange.
After saving all of the community lots in the world into the library and writing down the address locations of each lot, I bulldozed everything in Glenvale County, except Horseshoe Pond, Central Park, and Azalea Acres Community Garden. I edited the park and removed the bathrooms, the street lights, and the post lights on the walls. I removed everything man-made except the swingsets, which I changed to be completely rusted. Yes, I deleted the statue!
I also edited Azalea Acres to remove the fencing, borders on the garden beds, and the structure at the entrance.
I added the Pick 'n Pull Junkyard next to Azalea Acres and put a 64x64 lot across the street.
Here is a shot of the area I am playing in. The house is in the foreground with the junkyard next and the garden in the background.
In the other direction is the modified central park.
Sorry for the bad pictures, there is rain and fog a lot in my game right now. The apocalypse really messed up the weather, or the world is trying to heal itself.
I created the following Sims and placed them on the large lot. None of them were related.
Greta Goodrich, a female young adult
Daniel Churchill, a male child
Teri Lynn, a female child
The first thing I did was create a small basement in the back left of the lot with a bed, sink, toilet, shower, mini-fridge, large recycle bin, and small trash can. Here are the temporary accommodations for Greta Goodrich. (I forgot to get pictures of her actually in her home. She starved to death shortly after Teri and Daniel became teenagers. I placed her grave marker in the far back of the lot until I can place the cemetery.)
NOTE: I used "moveobjects on" to place her into this space as I will not be controlling her at all. I had initially added a ladder and had her climb down and removed the ladder, but that left a square hole in the ground. I didn't like that, so I redid it without a ladder.
Then I created another basement near the front of the lot and added a ladder.
I built a 3x3 entryway around the ladder and added a door.
Sleeping area:
Kitchen area with a pull-up bar on the right wall:
Skills area with a chess table and chemistry station:
I discovered I had to put the toilet and shower in a separate room so they would have privacy. Otherwise, they had to go outside whenever the other one needed to use the facilities.
I set their aging on medium, so they were only children for four days. As children, all they could do was fish, dig through the junk piles in the junkyard, play chess, and play with the block table. They couldn't gather seeds or plant them, and couldn't harvest the community garden. Because children are not allowed to pay the bills, I was able to choose to pay bills now for the first bill, but I didn't get the option for the second bill. So the repo man came and took away all of my trash cans in both basements.
I am on Week 2, Day 6 right now, so I already have a garden planted and growing, and have purchased a telescope for them to view the night sky, as well as an easel for painting. I also had really old rusty bicycles in my first attempt at playing, but they wouldn't use them with all routing turned off in the Traffic mod, and if it's turned on, there are vehicles in town, which is a deal-breaker for me. This is why I put all the lots within walking distance of one another for now until they have the "knowledge" to fix up a car to drive. So I started over with the game as you see it here.
The most tedious part of this journey so far has been using Stylist to change all their clothing to simple styles in whites, grays, and browns. I did it on all three Sims at the beginning of the game, and again for Daniel and Teri when they became teenagers. I'm not looking forward to doing it again, so I am hoping most of the clothing will remain as young adults.
Teri and Daniel will be aging up to young adults this afternoon game-time. I'm not sure if they will get pregnant right away, or wait until I am able to place a grocery store. Teri is almost level 8 in gardening and Daniel just reached level 8 in fishing.
Pictures of my founding couple as teenagers are below.

Here is the house I am using
Here is inside
Here it is under ground
Here are some pictures of what is in the world
Here is Dewy and Amy, they are married now
Dewey is on level 7 skill in Handyness, I cannot weight for him to get handyness skill 10
so he can build and make a room for a child. They will be adopting and cannot change anything
on child. Must keep as is.
Any is on level 5 on cooking skill
Amy loving this challenge
@Evalen
Thank you for sharing your game.
The world you have chosen is lovely. That's a long way to travel to get to the garden and junkyard, but bicycles should help.
I can't tell where on your map your Sims' property is.
I decided to wait on using the bicycles in this game until one of them gets to level 10 in handiness. Cars will not be available until two more Sims have level 10 in handiness. (This is entirely my choice, as I didn't really find anything in the rules about cars. I figured it would take at least three handypersons to figure out the mechanics of cars.)
Dewey and Any (Amy?) are a cute couple. Are they teenagers in that picture?
I look forward to seeing more.
Part 2
Daniel and Teri became young adults.
They were best friends as children, so it didn't take long to build up a romantic relationship.
Daniel makes pancakes for breakfast.
Daniel pushes Teri on the rusty swing set.
Snuggling.
Teri loves the cold, but this is crazy even for her! There is six inches of snow on the ground!
Once they were young adults, I decided to let the game choose when they would have a child by choosing risky 10%. It didn't take long for Teri to be in the family way.
Daniel is serenading his soon-to-be-born baby.
Daniel and Teri watching the stars together.
Eating waffles together.
Daniel is training Teri on the pull-up bar.
The couple becomes a family. I hope they're ready.
And here comes the stork.
Meet Hunter Lynn

Part 3
I neglected to mention that Daniel reached level 10 in fishing while they were expecting. The day after the birth, Teri reached level 10 in gardening. They have fulfilled the requirements for the Supermarket.
However, according to the rules, until someone reaches level 10 in handiness "Sims cannot build any buildings or walls above ground", so I will need either Daniel or Teri to get to level 10 in handiness before they can build the store or any other properties.
Teri is 1/3 of the way through level 7 and Daniel is almost to level 7, so it's anybody's guess who will get there first. I think they will have to replace the unbreakable stuff with self-cleaning and back again in order to get there.
So Hunter, Daniel, and Teri celebrated their birthdays on the same day!
Hunter inherited his mother's hair color and his father's eye color. We'll have to wait to see what other features he inherited.
I didn't get any pictures of the adults. Luckily, I only had to make a few minor adjustments to their outdoor outfits. Everything else remained the same.
Because she died of starvation, Greta Goodrich shows up at night and raids the fridge. Unfortunately, I can't have a graveyard until Daniel or Teri passes on, so we'll all just have to put up with her for now.
Apparently, Hunter likes the painting of the cupcake house with sprinkles.
Skill Levels So Far:
Daniel:
8 Athletic
5 Cooking
10 Fishing
4 Gardening
3 Guitar
6 Handiness
3 Logic
Teri:
1 Athletic
5 Cooking
5 Fishing
10 Gardening
7 Handiness
5 Logic
3 Painting
Hunter has been working on the Peg Toybox and has mastered it. He is now learning the Xylophone and to potty.

@Evalen
Thanks! Hunter is adorable. I wish he had inherited his mother's violet eyes.
Part 4
I turned on Story Progression after Hunter became a toddler.
Hunter learned to walk, talk, and use the potty. He mastered the Xylophone.
Hunter celebrated a birthday and became a child.
Teri finally mastered handiness. Now they are able to build another story either above or below ground and can build commercial lots.
Here is the new sub-basement.
And the upstairs.
Daniel is working on his gardening skill. He is at level 8 now.
Hunter is singing to his imaginary friend doll. He hasn't built his friendship with his IF up enough yet for the doll to become animated. Hunter has only discovered one potion so far, and it wasn't the one he needs for his IF doll.
EverFresh Delights Supermarket is now open for business.
I decided I should add a few starter homes for those newly found "survivors" to move into.
The new neighborhood:
I built Wilderness Bungalow located on the far right.
The other five houses came from the game. From right to left starting with the house next to Wilderness Bungalow.
Cornucopia:
Oak Grove Bungalow
Ginger:
Super Shack:
Cabin Fever:
3 br-Family Start which was the only house in Glenvale County:
NOTE: I chose not to change the houses to all white, brown, and grey decor. Once Teri reaches level 10 of painting I would have to go and change it all back (she is almost to level 4). Also, I didn't remove the TVs, stereos, and other electronics as they are all learning logic at the moment (Teri is currently in the lead at level 5). I figured as long as my household abided by the rules for recoloring, decorating, and electronics, that should be good enough.

I need to “restart” this story again when I replace my computer
Always "River McIrish" ...and maybe some Bebe Hart. ~innocent expression~
@texansky Love your little one. I have had a lot of problems, the world I chose went wakey on me. so I had to find a new world. I am thankf that I did not lose my sims. so here is my new world I am using.
My sim finally built a house but they are sitll poor
A lot has happen to them first off Dewey was taken by aliens and sent back home
then they had a fire in the hose and lost their stove. they are poor but trying to collect things
They are trying to make ends meet. They want to adopt a child
I am having lots of fun with them.
will post more later.
@Nikkei_Simmer
I hope you are able to get another computer sooner than you have planned.
@Evalen
I'm sorry your world went wonky. Hopefully, this one works out better for you.
It's too bad about the stove catching on fire. That will set them back.
I need to get one of their cooking skills up to level 10 so I can get better appliances. Of course, they will use more electricity, so I need a Sim at level 10 in logic so they can have more electronics.
I want to get Teri's painting to level 10 so they can recolor stuff. My world is so dull.
What a bummer that the stove caught on fire.
I put all of those houses in the game and they are still empty. I realized I had turned off immigration. I went into Story Progression and reset all defaults. I also reset defaults in Register. That should allow the population to grow now.
When I have three with level 10 in handiness, I will reset Traffic and allow vehicles. Then they can use their bicycles.
Having fun with this. can't wait for them to adopt.
@Evalen
I tend to start with the gardening skill in almost every game. I collected and sold scrap and garden produce to start with. I also did a lot of fishing and sold the catch each day. I really didn't wander too far collecting. So far we've done okay and not gone without, though my bad memory caused a few repo man visits.
Hunter has finally hit level 10 in logic (it happened after the following post), but he still hasn't discovered the young again potion. I may have him keep trying.
I forgot to buy a baking oven for Hunter, so he didn't learn the cooking skill as a child. This disqualifies him from being the heir. So Bryan will be the heir for the next generation.
The Lynn Legacy
Part 5
Meet Bryan Lynn!
Hunter is now a teenager.
Big brother Hunter feeding Bryan.
Dad Daniel Churchill tossed Bryan in the air. (He blew something up on the chemistry table.)
Like father, like son. Hunter failed an experiment. (I finally got the doll animated. I had to go into debug and trigger it manually.)
Teri Lynn is now an elder...
...and so is Daniel Churchill.
Hunter turns his IF doll real.
Meet Serenity Lynn.
Teri and Daniel watching the stars.
@texansky Your game is really progressing good, my sims are on a long ageing up. they are still young adults. By the way what is the young again potion and where do you find it. what game pack is it in. Well getting back to my game, trying to make enough money to get them a new stove after the fire.
Talk about a challenge and unexpected things happening in my game, this one takes the cake. It seems that Dewey is gaining weight and Amy is telling him that he needs more exercise
But Dewey finds out he is pregnant by Aliens
They decide to keep the baby
Meet Andy
Amy and Dewey have fallen in love with Andy
So life goes on. they now have a son. And they are happy
This has been a strange challenge so far but it is fun
Amy is potty training Andy and learning how to talk
He is learning how to talk
Andy is now a child and has found a new friend. His mom and dad
do not know about it, the dog is a stray.
He loves to play chess with his mom
In the meantime, Dewey started a fire on the grill
Having fun with my Sims
@Evalen
The Chemistry table is part of Generations. Sims can create ten different potions including the young again potion and the one that turns their imaginary friend real. Typically, you can max out logic just from the table before you have discovered all of the potions.
Oh, my! It looks like Dewey might have been abducted by aliens!
Welcome to the family, Andy! I guess they don't need to adopt for a little while.
Thanks for your comments. Another post coming shortly.
Part 6
Several days passed as the Sims all worked on their skills.
Hunter, Serenity, and Bryan all celebrated their birthdays on the same day.
Hunter as a young adult:
Serenity as a young adult:
NOTE: The picture above was taken after I changed her hair. I was not too fond of the short hair she was given which is shown in the picture below.
Bryan as a toddler:
Hunter and Serenity are getting serious about one another.
Daniel mastered both athletic and handiness, so they built a firehouse.
Hunter mastered the logic skill and Daniel mastered the gardening skill. I used these two skills to rebuild Central Park including everything that I had removed.
NOTE: I bulldozed the lot and then edited it in buydebug mode to remove all of the spawners. Then I placed a new copy of Central Park.
I will need a Sim to master cooking in order to add the Festival Lot to the game, as this has food vendors. I'm debating between the Festival Lot or the diner first.
As I had two Sims who mastered handiness, and electricity was now available because Hunter reached level 10 in logic, they were able to upgrade their water heater and get a better shower.
Bryan celebrated another birthday and became a child. I guess his eyes are brown and not the same as his dad's eyes.
* edited to correct name from Daniel to Hunter with the first picture.

They named him Buddy, because he is Andy's best friend
So Many Emotions
The Lynn Legacy
Part 7
After a few more days of working on skills, Bryan celebrated his birthday and became a teenager.
Bryan is best friends with townie Shelby McLain-Rasmussen. They met at the park as children and played tag all afternoon. They have talked on the phone a lot. Shelby is three days younger than Bryan.
Hunter made Bryan a potion for his IF to become real. Meet Brandi Lynn.
And this happened. They lost Daniel Churchill to death.
The entire family showed up to mourn.
Teri decided to talk with the Grim Reaper.
Hunter realized that life is precious. He spent the night with Serenity. She became pregnant.
Shelby McLain-Rasmussen celebrated her birthday and became a teenager.
Bryan spent a lot of time at Shelby's house. They watched the stars together.
They spent so much time in one another's company that Bryan asked Shelby to go steady and she said yes. I didn't get any pictures.
When Hunter found out that Serenity was pregnant, he asked her to marry him. She said yes. Sadly, no pictures of the event.
NOTE: I know my Sims can't get married until someone gets to level 10 in charisma. I guess that will be my priority now.
Brandi tried cooking waffles. It didn't turn out well. They lost the stove, counter, and sink to the fire, but Hunter was able to put the fire out. It could have been a lot worse.
They got a new stove, counter, and sink.
The next time that Bryan visited Shelby, he asked her to marry him and she said yes. Shelby can't even move in until someone masters charisma. Bryan has a very strong incentive to complete that task. He doesn't want his children growing up away from him.
Serenity went into labor. She looks thrilled to be having a baby.
Meet Loni Lynn!
NOTE: This is my first baby between a human and an imaginary friend. It says she's human when I look in MC at her Personal status. I'm not sure if it would say something else if she is an imaginary friend like her mother.
Right after Loni was born, I heard the music for the impending doom of the Grim Reaper. I checked and Teri was fine. Then I found this outside the front door. It was a stray cat who just happened to die while on the property.
I thought Teri was safe. But when she climbed down the ladder into the bunker, this happened.
Teri was ready to be with Daniel again.
Only Bryan, Serenity, and Hunter witnessed her passing. Brandi was still in bed and slept through it all.
I guess I can add a cemetery now that the original three have passed on. I'm not going to have the family plot on the property. They will all go to the mausoleum.
The town banded together and helped build the new cemetery.
NOTE: The sad thing is that Teri Lynn was at level 9 in painting. Serenity is at the brink of level 7. Since she had a baby with Hunter, that makes her part of the family tree, so her skills will count as long as she lives on the family property. I will have to endure shades of white, gray, and brown for a while longer.
The final skill levels for Daniel and Teri:
Daniel:
10 Athletic (Firehouse)
6 Cooking
10 Fishing (Supermarket)
10 Gardening (Big Park) - Hunter mastered logic and contributed his skill to this community lot.
5 Guitar
10 Handiness (Firehouse)
4 Logic
Teri:
3 Athletic
6 Cooking
5 Fishing
10 Gardening (Supermarket)
5 Guitar
