Diagonal stairs and ladders don't work - right?

I just built a room on the diagonal and I want an outside ladder or staircase but I can't make either work on a diagonal...correct?

Oh, how I wish they did. Maybe it will be a future update? I can't properly build my own house in the sims without that feature.

yeah this annoys me to the ends of world too cause lots of old houses be having diagonal stairs to the porch or sometimes you just want some nice diagonal rooms

but actually i think i might be able to do something about that with the new platforms coming since some people were using them to create stairs and it could maybe work diagonally *rub chin*

You could do that, but it depends how tall you want your stairs to be. The platforms rise one step at a time but are 1 tile wide.

The open water dock ladder works on an angle. Other ladders should also - but don't.

Lilsimsie built a house recently entirely diagonally just so that the stairs could be put on the diagonal. So you could try doing it that way.

@babajayne - thanks for the tip - I added a squared balcony so my ladder could connect to a diagonal room.

We so need a diagonal build tool for stairs & ladders. Also, we still need spiral stairs.

No. But you can add a porch with stairs. I managed in this build (it was for one of Lilsimsie's shell challenges).

I've yet to be able to build my favorite house in this game. With the latest stairs they gave us, I was at least able to do it partially. But the problem is, the house was originally built in the 1800s sometime after the Civil War, out in Los Angeles, CA by an Officer from that war, for his wife. my Grand Uncle and his wife purchased it. It was marvelous. Thing is, there was a door on an angle in the kitchen that led up to the landing of the stairs. It was for the maid, you see. But, stairs don't and have never in this game worked on an angle to my chagrin. I would love to have this amended before they give us the spiral staircase, or both at once, if that's possible. Plus, I would love for there to be two kinds of spirals. Not just the tight kind we normally get but this type as well:

I'm actually wondering if i may be able to make like gigantic curvy staircase with the platforms but i assume it might get too big due to steps having to be 1 tile at least

ah if only i could have platforms already i have so many experiments in mind

I do be really wanting those though cause there was some builds in ts1 using curved staircase and i can't really recreate the vibe in ts4 yet

@Montrase102 & @GalacticGal - I can put windows, lights, doors and a small painting on diagonal walls. Just testing.

I mainly noticed I couldn't place curtains over the diagonal walled windows and I cannot place the stand alone shower from Discover University too.
