What sort of problems are you having? Are guests just not turning up at all, or are you just getting bad reviews? If it's just bad reviews, then what kind of amenities do you have? Make sure that you hire the best maintenance workers, have the best quality food (ideally you'd want 8 buffet tables with high quality version of each food option). Enable spa services at the resort tower.

And also you'll want to eventually invest in a hot tub, some gym equipment, a pool slide and pool bar, snack bar, and a firewalking pit.

All of this obviously takes some time and money, so it's ok to start slow. I'd say at the bare minimum you need good maintenance, a good selection of buffet tables, a pool, and a hot tub. Then just keep going until you can afford the other things.

in order to bring in guests you just need the bungalos or resort tower. To make it profitable, put down 7 buffet tables...one for each food selection. Boost it up to the best food quality. Get three maintenance...highest paid.

Throw in a pool with pool bar. Two Jacuzzies. One fire walk.

Make each stand and check in 24 hours shifts.

You'll be 5 star in no time.

I have two resorts...one is in the middle of nowhere and they all show automatically.

What does your Resort Financial Management Report say? Do you have full occupancy and how many rooms? What is your income versus your outgoing expense? Did you load up on a lot of expensive amenities and start to run out of cash before you had guests?

    Did you OPEN the resort?

What do the Resort Comments say (from guests)?

    Is your front desk manned?

    Lots of questions.

    :)

I did not use any cheats.
And I have a five star resort.
    This is what I did:

    1. Get the highest level Tower. It only cost $3k
    2. Upgrade it. (Click on it) Cost: $10k
    3. Upgrade it again. Cost: $25k
    4. Make a good size pool.
    5. Add a slide and a waterfall.
    6. Add a pool bar! (Very important)
    7. Have at least one hottub.
    8. Get a firewalk.
    9. Have 8 buffet tables one for each food type.
    10. Set said food to highest quality.
    11. Put out enough seating for 8.
    12. Make sure you have a gym! (Mine is only 1 treadmill and 1 lifting weights)
    13. For your tower, click on it and toggle room service on.
    14. For your pool bar make sure the drink specials are set to Fresh n Fruity.
    15. Chlorinate your pool.
    16. Get a food stand and set to highest food quality.
    17. Make sure you have set the pool bar, food stand, and front desk to all shifts.
    18. Hire the 3 best quality maintenance workers.
    19. Make sure it is open

My resort is 5 stars and makes $11k a day.

I'm having the same problem too! I have pretty much everything at my resort. I swear I have 10 workers but those are the only sims there besides the two I'm playing with. I don't know what to do and I called EA and they transferred me to Maxis and they told me to call back on monday to talk to a specialist because they were not able to help me. It defeats the whole resort portion of the game.....

    1. Okay so at the top it says my Occupancy is 77/77.
Which means, most of them are invisible, because showing that many sims would be too laggy.

    2. Revenue: $9,856
This is how much money it will give me each day.

    3. Expenses: $2,962
This is how much money I spend on operational costs.

    4. Then you can see the list of how the costs are broken down.

    ____________________________________________

It takes time. It took days for me to even see a guest. Everyone hated my resort for weeks because I couldn't buy everything at once. It took my 4 sim weeks for me to get to five stars.

If you are still having problems and your resort is showing 0 occupancy, this is what I would do:

Go to another lot and make another resort. Maybe it's just that lot that is messed up. It's way better to try this than to wait a whole weekend to talk to a specialist.

But do you at least see 3 or more sims out doing things at the resort like eating at the buffet or swimming in the pool? Cuz the only sims I see doing that at my resort are my workers....sigh....

Usually, during the day there's anywhere from 5-10 sims doing things. They are mostly eating. Haha. At night, I sometimes see sims, but mostly I don't.

Hard to say what's going on without looking at your financial report, but maybe you started out too fast, too soon on expensive additions and also added the wrong kinds of items.

If you click on your resort walls, front desk or floors, you should be able to get an option for Resort Management Reports. From there, you can look at things like Guest Suggestions, which are your main hints for what's needed in terms of improvements.

You can also click on things like the food tables, the pool, the bars, to improve those options.

I wouldn't add all those food tables, frankly. My resort is at 4.5 now and I only have Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Desserts. Those I gradually increased in quality as my resort became more profitable.

You should have Room and Spa Services turned on in your towers.

Have your Sim upgrade things like the toilets, sinks, all-in-one bathrooms, any televisions, appliances, hot tubs, etc., which are reachable (not inside a rabbit hole) to unbreakable. This will lighten the load for your Maintenance Staff, which, btw, you should go for the $100. The other ones are completely useless.

I think you are so far in the hole now, you're only way to reopen is to testingcheats and add funds to your owner Sim and try to figure out what's going on.

If you're occupany is 0 out of 90 or whatever, either your front desk is glitched, your resort was not opened properly or you have some other major problem. The Reports area where you can read guest comments should tell you something.

Otherwise, you may just have a glitch resort and will have to start over. Was this a resort you built yourself and, if so, did you put in resort room towers? If you just plopped some structures you built down on a lot and added a front desk, you are in a heap o' trouble.

Oh... and don't forget to check your Room Stay Prices. If they are set too high at first before you gain stars, people won't come to stay.

the very last thing you wrote is what i did wrong. i started it off too expensive. and it went out of business :( how can i reopen, and make the profit i need. i'm telling you!!! i've done all of what i needed... beside open at an afforadble price. i have the tower, buffet, gym, hotel rooms, front desk, pool bars.

I just got my game last night and didn't get to play with it very long so I'm only guessing here.

How do you know you need $713 profit in order to open? Did you get some kind of message from the game when you tried to reopen the resort?

Maybe it means you need to have $713 in your household funds in order to cover your expenses?

If so, your sim will need to get a job or find some collectibles or sell some things in order to raise the money.

Hope you get your resort working soon. Good luck. :)

You are going to have to add to your Sim's personal funds to reopen. Do testingcheats and Kaching or Motherlode. Give yourself a comfortable padding and then monitor it and be patient.

    Good luck!

I find you have to start slow, and build the business up. You only need the front desk/lobby, a resort tower, and food for people to start coming. Make sure your prices are cheap to start. Then as you can, add ammenities like a gym, a pool, a hot tub, a full buffet area (with one table for each option, I always get good reviews on the food), and a VIP guest room. Once you are adding new things you can increase your prices and you wont have to close down.

If you start out with a super expensive resort, people aren't going to go right off the bat. They want to see some good reviews first! So start slow, get some decent reviews, then upgrade once you have a loyal following!

Hi, I hav the same problem. I have built an AMAZING resort, I even want to upload it, but one day after it was opened, it was automatically shut down because of unprofitable revenue. I got a warning a day before, and I checked my hotel financial report, and out of 79 free beds, only 32 were occupied, so I lowered down my price, nothing happened, and it had all the ammonites, it had 10 buffets, an outdoor and indoor dining area a chlorinated pool, 3 firewalks with different temperatures, blah blah blah... Now I CAN'T even OPEN IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!! I spent 5 hrs. building that piece of heaven, and its super annoying!!!!!! EA should'tv made this **** system, the should let people do what they want. It never happened to me! I managed to turn hobarts hideaway (Herrard Beach Resort *****) To a ***** Resort, with 7 Suites. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP???

Okay. You will need to do a testingcheats and add to your personal funds. Add enough so you can cover your expenses on the resort AND your personal rent on your home property for at least 3 days.

Take out 6 of those buffets. You really only need four: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Dessert. You can look at adding a Sushi bar later. Start your quality out on the medium one for a while.

Take out two of the fire pits for now. The guests will ask for more, but you should only be adding stuff as you can afford it.

Start the beverage services with just an in-pool swim up bar OR a walk-up bar by the pool. One.

Take out any hot tubs - for now. They are expensive.

Take out any food stands. Add ONE later, when you have money and the demand is there.

I think you may have seriously overbuilt. You have to watch your financial reports closely. Start with the basics first.

Things like upgrading your towers and adding room service and spa services and gradually improving food and drink special quality will come first.
Back your pricing on your rooms down to affordable.

Long and short of it, scale back all the fancy stuff and get some money back. Then pay strict attention to your financial report and the guest feedback section (clicking on front desk) and make sure you have top grade maintenance (ONE! For now.) Take the load off your maintenance folks, btw, by upgrading every thing you can to unbreakable.

    Good luck!
