Sims leave work early when scared?

Is anybody else having issues with sims leaving work early when they are scared? I’m playing in a haunted house and every time things start to get a bit bad my sims won’t stay at work. It’s making it impossible to keep playing my family the way I want to cause I can’t afford to keep them off work currently.
