My story will begin publishing on the first of August. It is my challenge of the month story. I downloaded everything from the map, only difference is my one sim. I'm planning on adding more outfits as the story goes on. But I suppose I can upload her now.
I can't wait to read your story and to see some screenies!
@Brennachan Just started playing this awesome challenge - thank you so much for building all this, and the sims, and the story!
Not sure you are going to like what seasons did to the Murklanders though - think Mad Mud and the Mad Mudders just lost their scary reputations with their hot weather outfits!
The Mutant Raccoons have apparently all turned into people sims with equally bad hot weather outfits too!
Autumn the Freegan already died from overheating too

I know the new outfits are so hideous for the Murklanders! I have thought about going through and fixing all of the outfits and then re-uploading them. Might have to do that but if I do, it's gonna take me awhile!
Hello @Brennachan , i'm super psyched to start the challenge but I don't have the outdoor retreat pack, does this stop me from doing the challenge? I've read through a lot of posts saying how awesome it is. I have heard of the challenge before and i've created sims for it but i've never started playing! You can check the sims out with my origin ID: Ailurophilette. thanks, Stella xx

Hello @Ailurophilette and welcome to the Murkland Challenge. Outdoor Retreat is kind of the backbone of the challenge. But if you have enough of the other content you can still play in Murkland. A lot of the Murklanders live in tents and cook over the campfire or eat from coolers. The herbal skill comes into play later in the challenge. All of these are from Outdoor Retreat. Depending on what other content you own you may have to restyle some of the households and lots. You will also find traits and aspirations that are specific to Outdoor Retreat. You can still set up the world and use the wonderful households created by @Brennachan
I hope you will still give it a try. Feel free to post questions here

Like EQ said, Outdoor Retreat is a huge part of the challenge but you can still play Murkland and maybe more as a sandbox. A lot of folks do this.
I have started re-doing the households for Seasons. I have finished the Acquisition, Mutant and Mad Mud Faction Households. You can find the new households in my gallery. I will post links on this thread when I finish. I am also giving the households the ice proof and heat proof reward traits so you won't have to worry about the Murkland townies when they wear the wrong outfit in extreme weather! The new households are optional to use.
I had to start a fire so no one would freeze to death.
i'm nervous about winter though.... and goodness. I didn't want to spam the thread with links because I was planning to get a part posted every single day through August. I'm not sure i'm going to make tomorrows in time though because of the screenshot issue.

I redid all the households in Murkland to have the ice and heat proof traits so if you would like to DL those new households, they are all in my gallery. I will post links on page 1 of this thread when I have time. They are the Murkland households with (Seasons) in the title.
If you don't want to DL the new households, you can ask to see everyone's cold weather outfit. Once they are in those outfits, they will not freeze. It's the same with hot weather outfits -- they won't overheat if they are wearing that. It's a cumbersome way to deal with it, but it is an option.
I'm going to try not to get everyone to freeze or burn to death. It's silly they don't always change into better clothes for the weather. I'm not going to redownload them at the moment because I had to edit them anyways because of missing packs. XD the poor freegens were all completely naked and some households were bald.

Another option is to turn off how weather affects sims -- you will still experience the weather but not the consequences. I'm totally fine with you doing that as the challenge was made before Seasons. As I am working on going through the seasons and the gardening overhaul, I am coming up with a variety of solutions for folks who play Murkland. So you can ask the Murklanders to change into the right clothes as needed, you can use the new households, or you can turn off how weather affects sims. If you do the gym challenge later on, I HIGHLY recommend you turn off how weather affects sims because when you live at the gym, sims stay in their exercise clothes and you will have too many Murklanders die.
