Quick question about achievements

This is a pretty dumb question, but do you have to be online for your sims to unlock achievements? And if you are playing offline and you unlock one, will it stay unlocked and the points you earned stay saved?

I do believe achievements are baked into the game and not part of Origin, so I'm like 95% sure that they do work offline.

I actually re-achieved some of my achievements when I started a new game with a member from my existing legacy, so I don't know that if you unlock them once you unlock them forever - it seems a bit wonky to me. For instance, the "Play the Sims for X Hours" achievements have been earned on my account a few times.. although, to be fair, it was rather soon after launch that that had happened.

Achievements can be earned offline. They are tied to each save so that means you have to earn them all over again if you start a new save.
