Hello GG! It's been a while since I hosted my last contest, but the urge has struck once again...
Now, there were a lot of people who really enjoyed the HGTV House Hunter's Contests that Seascape and BecomingJenn previously hosted and that I had helped judge. So, in Seascape's absence, I would like to continue these. This first contest is inspired by Seascape's House Hunter's Contests, but, for this contest, there will be a few differences. There will be two categories. A CAS category and a building category. You can enter one or both of them, just like Seascape's previous contests. The biggest difference is in what the clients are hunting for and that there isn't a specific locale. There is a budget you must stay within, just like the previous contests. Although for this contest, it is a rather large budget. In the previous contests, the budget tried to encourage the builders to get very creative, in order to include all the required elements and any WL elements and still stay within the budget. With this particular contest, you are given a large budget because your creativity will come from being able to include all the required elements and any WL elements in one location and have it blend in with the locale where it is built.
For this contest, our clients are a recently married, young adult couple who live in Isla Paradiso. They have recently received a large inheritance which will allow them the chance to fulfill their dream of becoming resort owners and maybe even moguls. This time, our clients are looking for architect's to design the best resort possible that includes every amenity they want for their future guests. They are looking at several different lot locations, so it doesn't necessarily need to be in Isla Paradiso. They have a list of available lots for you to choose from, along with further instructions for choosing lots, that are listed below. There are both, beach and in town locations, depending on which lot/ town you choose. More than one architect may choose the same lot. Our clients feel that this will allow the architects the freedom to build and decorate in any style that will inspire them to build the best resort/hotel possible. They are already dreaming of owning several 5-Star resort/hotels.
There is a budget, but it is rather outrageous, because our clients really do want the best of everything for their guests. The budget is 1,000,000 simoleons. Yes!, you saw that right, 1 million simoleons. I told you it was outrageous, but so are their requirements, which we'll get to in a minute.

Now, my job, is to give you all the information I can, to help you picture and understand the clients, their wishes, likes, and tastes, so that you can create your image of them, and design/build the best resort you can imagine. Then I will submit your designs for to the clients' judging panel for approval.
Let me start with telling you everything I know about them.
Their names are Kamani Kaimana and his wife, Mahina. They were both born and raised in Isla Paradisio. They currently have no children, but are looking forward to starting a family soon. They wanted to be a little more stable first, though and now, with the inheritance, this is possible. They are still planning to wait until they own at least one resort, though. They have just adopted two pets, one kitten and one puppy. They are both Scuba Divers and love the heat and outdoors. While they both excel in athletics, charisma, and logic, they each have other different interests. Kamani is handy, and loves to fish. He also has a keen interest in mixology, martial arts, and science. Mahina enjoys cooking, gardening, art, photography, and is also a fairly decent windsurfer. Mahina's favorite color is aqua, while Kamani's is green.
I have given you everything I know about them. Now you get to create them and introduce them to us. What do they look like? I can't wait to meet them. There will be bonus points possible for including their newly adopted pets.
Well, now that you have as much info as possible about the clients themselves, to help you appeal to their tastes and interests, let's get to their requirements and expectations for the resort/hotel designs.
The resort/hotel must include some basic requirements to even be considered a resort/hotel, plus the clients have some very specific amenities. Some, they feel are required for them to even consider your design, while other are more of a wishlist of items that would be nice to have, but not necessary. In Fact, they will award bonus points during judging for any of their WL amenities that can be included in the lot. Any other amenities each individual architect thinks they want to add and have adequate room for, are more than welcome. While they are not looking for any specific architectural style, they do want the interior to blend well with the exterior and landscaping, and the entire lot to blend with the surroundings of the locale where it is built. You must include the name the town and lot location where it was built, chosen from the list below. The clients realize that a lot of their requirements are not necessary, but they want to give their future guests plenty of choices for activities and fun to give them a stay they will never forget and keep them coming back for years to come. They also want each resort/hotel to be able to accommodate a minimum of 100 guests and a maximum of 200 quests. You need not be concerned about the star rating before uploading, as our clients would like to reach the 5-star rating on their own, once the winning lot is chosen. However, if the 5-star rating is achieved during play testing that is fine, too. You won't loose any points for it in the judging process.
The list of required and WL amenities does include the use of a lot of PC items, but that does not mean that the architect has to own them to participate. If you lack the PC items needed, just include the area in the build and place the closest items you own to decorate the room/area, so that the client can still tell the intended use of the room/area. If you need help with any sizes of needed PC items to plan room size or placement, just ask. I will get you the needed info as fast as possible. Ok, now to the list all of the requirements
The Basic Minimum Lot Requirements For Any Resort:
Front desk/Lobby area
Tower Rooms (May be hidden somewhere on the lot but must be accessible, with no routing issues, to all sims and maintenance crew.)
Banquet Table (minimum 1, clients prefer 8, 1 for each food type)
Minimum 3-4 VIP Rooms w/ Bathrooms
Publicly accessible Restrooms
Client's Resort Requirements:
A gym (big enough for minimum of 3 each of weight machines and Tread mills and any other items you think appropriate)
A Bistro/Restaurant (with dining area)
Movie Theatre (Seating for a minimum of 12)
Casino with a Professional Bar
Large Patio With Dining Area
Hot Tub/Jacuzzi (minimum of 1)
Pool ( either, 1 large pool with diving board, water slide, fountain, and poolside bar or two smaller pools, 1 with diving board and water slide and the other with fountain and bar. )
It must be able to accommodate a minimum of 100 Guests and a maximum of 200 Guests
Additional Wish List Amenities:

Game room
Golf Driving Range
Hot Air Balloon
Library/Reading Room
Playground
Steam room/Sauna
Stylists Salon
*Wedding Venue*
Any other amenities that you think would appeal to the clients, you are free to add, if you can fit them on the lot.

Lot List:
When choosing your lots from this list, there are some instructions or considerations. Some of the lots, you will need to bulldoze the current building to use the lot. Make sure on all of the lots that the lot type is Community/Resort, as some are currently residential, while others are community, but a different sub-class, such as visitor allowed. The most important reason is that unless the lot you are building on is set to resort, you won't be able to access things like the front desk or the towers. There are 2 towns in the list of lots, where you are given the option to place your own lots at specific locations. If you choose this option please make sure to orient the lot so that the front faces the road access or as otherwise specified. Also, there are a few other things to be aware of, if choosing a beach/Ocean Front lot. Apparently, if you place boats or jet skis in the water or Hot Tubs on decking over water, they can disappear when uploading. This is an example of why pics are so important in your entry. If we have good enough pictures, the judges can tell where things were and what they were, if they disappear. If you use a beach front/ocean access lot that you place yourself, there can also be issues around the edges of the property, so try not to build completely to the edge to allow for smoothing and sculpting that maybe required at placement. For any of the lot locations where you may place the lot itself, be aware there may be game spawners possible in the locations. ***It has come to my attention that the beach lot in Isla Paradiso has an issue with a roach spawner that is hard, if not impossible, to find and remove. The judges are aware and you will not lose points for roaches on this lot.*** Also there is a possible problem with routing at, I assume, all the towers because of both NPC guests and maintenance crews trying to enter at the same time. This will also not be considered when judging.

This town has a unique opportunity that comes with it. There are 2 places where you may place your own lot in this world for beach/ocean front lots. The locations are given viewing the beach from the ocean. Also, be aware that I don't know if there are any various spawners in these locations. You may use either a 60x60 or a 64x64 lot for these locations.
The first one is as close to the wall as you can get it, directly to the right of the park on the main beach. Make sure the front of your lot faces the park. - Beach Front
The second one is right below the first and to the far right of Hogan's Deep Sea Diner. You may place this one partially in the water, for beach front/ocean access. Make sure the front of your lot faces the road. - Beach Front/Ocean Access

The Rules:
1. You may enter only once for each category for a total of two entries, but you may only win once.
2. You must have a completed entry form in your entry post, including the name of the town and lot used, if entry is for the building category.
3. They must be new sims or a new build, and can not have been entered into any other contests.
4. Each category must have it's own entry post.
5. All Store content is allowed, but sorry, No Dr. Pepper or T-Mobile items. All EP and SP items are also allowed.
6. No CC (will be check with Custard, if CC is found you will have until the contest closes to fix and resubmit it.)
7. CAP allowed with a limit of 3 per entry (MUST be listed in entry post with link and credit given to creator.)
8. Your CAS entry must include one head shot close up pic and one pic of each outfit. You can use a collage style pic for the outfits. Your Building entry must include one front view exterior pic, one back view exterior pic, and one pic of each level of the floor plan with walls up. (For additional pics, please give link to a slideshow or other thread, so we don't break this thread.)
9. Resort/Hotel can only be built on one of the lots from the list. Lots can be used by multiple architects. You do not need to declare which lot you are using until you post your entry. List is only to provide you at least one specific lot option for each world.
10. You may use any architectural and interior design style, but must include required amenities. (Bonus points will be given for including the clients wish list amenities.)
11. All entries must be posted by deadline of 11:00pm CDT on September 30, 2013
12. Resort/Hotel must be able to accommodate a minimum of 100 guests.
13. CFE and MOO are allowed for the building category. (Just be sure there are no routing issues.) Pose player is allowed for the CAS pics, if you would like. (It won't have any effect on the judging.)
14. You must stay within the given budget for the building category.
Since there have been problems with keeping it with the budget I will allow this compromise.
If your resort comes in over budget, in your description of the lot on your entry form, add a sales pitch as to why they should consider spending a little more for your resort.
This applies to anyone who enters and are having problems staying within the budget. Still try to keep it as close to budget as possible, but then try to sell them on why your resort is worth the extra money.

The Announcement You've All Been Waiting For........But first I must say this....
You all did amazing jobs with this contest. I don't want anyone to think that all your time and hard work went un-noticed in any way. I know for myself, as I told Terrylin, it would have been much easier to just award everyone 1st place, but alas it is a contest and I don't have a simpoint fairy. (Man! I wish I did. That would be soo awesome!) So in order to score these beautiful entries, I had to get very critical of everything including the entry presentation and still ended up with many ties. I had to rely on the scores of the other judges to break them. Which they did with their own painstakingly achieved scores. When we have stated that this was not an easy contest to judge, we are not kidding. These were all so amazing. For the CAS, there were so many different combinations of skills and traits, that I hadn't even considered when writing their Bio's, yet you all came up with different yet fairly accurate combinations, it really astounded me. Every couple and their pets were gorgeous and equally unique.
The Resort builds were even more astounding. I never imagined that you would have been able to include all of the required amenities and all of the WL amenities in one 64x64 lot, yet most of you did and there were a couple that included even more amenities. Every single one was unique and beautiful. Even ones that were built for the same exact lot were entirely different. The amount of masterfully done CFE was amazing. I was left with my jaw hanging open on more that one of these lots. CFE and I are not friends at all, and that's putting it kindly, so when I see the kinds of things you all have managed to do, I'm just floored.( pardon the unintended pun) .
Each and every one of you should walk away very proud of what you created for this contest, whether you place for a prize or not. There really weren't any losing entries. I wish I could award everyone the prizes they deserve, but again, I still haven't found that simpoint fairy. . I am looking for one, though I got close with my sponsors.

Here are some pictures and dimensions for the Island Paradise Exclusive Resort items for those who don't own Island Paradise and want to enter the build portion of the contest. ******VERY IMPORTANT NOTES FOR ALL POSSIBLE/CURRENT ENTRANTS******
I have had some say that they wouldn't feel right joining in the contest as they are missing some of the items or set for the required amenities. I want to stress that, as stated in the rules, you do not need all the PC items and sets to participate. For example, if you don't have the Bistro set, you could use the Itadakimasu! Japanese Inspired Dining set instead, or even just build it with regular kitchen items and a pizza oven or just a regular oven, so that the judges will know what the room is supposed to be used for. Another example is if you don't have the Cinema Venue and therefore, do not have the entry system or the movie screen, you could leave enough room to add the entry system later and place the biggest TV you own, leaving enough room for it to be easily replaced with the movie screen later. It is far more important the that the correct space is there for the amenities and not that the PC items are included.
Also NiSci had said he might be interested in just building a shell of the resort leaving room for the required items,for a resort as he doesn't own the IP expansion. For those who don't own IP, would this be something you might be interested in? I would like some feedback on this as I would consider adding an additional category if this would help get more interest.
****NEW NOTE*****
Make sure to change the lot type to Community/Resort before you go to build on any lot. Otherwise You will not have access to any of the towers, Front desks, and other resort lot items. Even in Isla Paradiso.
***It has come to my attention that this lot has an issue with a roach spawner that is hard if not impossible to find and remove. The judges are aware and you will not lose points for roaches on this lot.***

No, I haven't been in contact with Seascape lately, as she just quit answering my emails. I'm going to try to send her one though, now that you saw her online recently. As soon as I get the little one in bed. First day of school for her tomorrow.

You are soo right! I'm not sure if it will work, but my thought for hiding their ugly towers is to put them partially in a basement and build a new shell up around them that will fit the theme. Of course, like you said, you'd have to make sure that all sims and maintenance crews can easily access the actual rabbit hole tower inside the shell without any routing issues. Might be harder than I think.
The only issue with the basement that I have found is if they get interrupted while in the basement when going to said Rabbit hole they either toe tap forever, stand and read or wave hand stomping feet not continuing through with going to the Rabbithole. My sim worked with a simbot and everyday she would see him going to work and I had to follow her into the basement for she would cancel out going to work just so she could express her dislike of simbots. Sims react to all occult interrupting what they should be doing. Stupid if you ask me for I can see doing it once but every time is a bit much as EA has a penchant for! GRRR :P
Yea, That does get annoying! EA really should work through all their coding issues better before releasing stuff, but that would take too much of their time and not make them enough money. If it is as annoying as that is, I would prefer they just take the coding out and our sims not react at all, rather than every single time. I hate it when stuff like that cancels out what I want them to do.
