  • A small update for Island Living and its corresponding game patch! Change Log 7/11/19 Patch 1.52 Updates* Added the use of the “Off The Grid” lot trait to the suggestions section for the first four Eras. * Allowed the Fisherman part-time job starting in Early Civilization and onward. * Allowed taking odd jobs starting in…
  • You mean like, poor NPC Sims can't interact with your high-class family? No, none that I've thought of. Did you have any in mind?
  • There's definitely no need for any restrictions on counters, since they don't provide any special usage by themselves. They just don't really fit in with the Stone Age, is all.
  • Can they make it on tables? I thought its tooltip said it had to be on a counter.
  • I'm planning on adding the kava bowl along with some other items added to the pack in the next update to the challenge, but I was planning to allow the use of the kava bowl either throughout the challenge or starting in early civ. The only catch is that it requires counters, which aren't overly stone age friendly.
  • Yep! That's why I listed it as a recommended starting spot. I'm not sure if toddlers can get hygiene from it though, let me know if/when you find out!
  • Lol, sometimes these things happen! Give it another try
  • As it says in the Era section, the Era goals can only be completed while that Era is active. (Did I say "Era" enough times?) I did know this lot trait was coming, but decided not to require it for the challenge. Partially because I wasn't sure what items it would effect, but also because it didn't seem necessary to add a…
  • At least the way I've always played it, my Ancestors are mates--meaning they're just as devoted to each other as spouses would be, but have no concept of a legally binding union. Their kids, however, would be growing up in the end of the stone age while living their adult lives in early civilization. I usually will marry…
  • Yep! I did know about that. Unfortunately, you can only randomize them in CAS, not in the screen when kids are aging up. In any case, the rule that made you randomize all your traits is now removed. Edit: I was wrong! It appears they did add it for the aging up screens as well. In the scoresheets, I have a little…
  • That took less time than expected! Posting my last change log on this forum thread, as I've taken @MadameLee 's advice and started a new, less cluttered thread for this challenge. You can find that new thread here, so head on over! Change Log 6/17/19
  • I've added in an extra option to progress at every other generation, but probably won't implement special goals for it or two more Eras in this update. I'm calling the every other generation option the "Enduring Eras" mode. I think I might release the updated challenge later tonight, after I finish typing it up in bbcode…
  • I'll have to think a bit more on what new Eras to add, but letting you guys do every other generation will be easy for me to add--just an optional tweak to the rules. That's a good idea, I hadn't thought about that. I'll probably make a new thread for it when I release the new updates--either later today or tomorrow…
  • Okay, I'm officially done updating the challenge! I'm going to let it sit for a couple days while I update the scoresheet to give you guys a chance to give feedback before this update goes live. I put a lot of work into researching for this challenge, so I hope you all like it!
  • Now for an update on well... the update: I HAVE been working on revamping this challenge, as @Sarahkay said (some of you may have noticed me lurking on the History Challenge google doc the last few days). I'm fondly referring to it as the History Challenge 2.0, as it will be a rather substantial overhaul. My goal for this…
  • Agh! So, first an explanation, then I'll answer all the unanswered questions. Not long after my last comment on this thread, I cleared my browser cache/cookies, etc, and have since been unable to log into my account here. For some reason it was constantly asking me to make a new account, and not linking my EA account…
  • There's actually one skill that is different between the two--the Industrial Era has Charisma instead of Handiness. I believe this is intended, but it's a part of the challenge that I personally haven't touched, so those are the original three skills that Cloudseeker selected. If/when I finally get to the larger overhaul…
  • So I've been doing some testing with gardening (finally, I know) and have found gardening since they overhauled it back when seasons came out to be rather unfun if you're trying to grow and splice plants. I tested this with a single Sim, two of each required plant for grafting (one indoors, one outdoors), until my Sim had…
  • I've recently started incorporating bars into my kitchens and it's such a pain to find a matching set! Maybe a wine fridge (slots under a counter like a dishwasher) or something would work.
  • Hey! Sorry for taking so long to reply, I've been dealing with a password recovery as someone got into one of my older email accounts. I did notice today that there's a new no auto-phones mod on MTS by anonymouse85, which you can find here. As far as basic CC (like the typewriter) goes, those don't usually need as much…
  • Forgot to add one of the most important ones (to me): Pianos! Would really love a 1x2 or even 2x2 piano item that's just a standing piano. I know we have the keyboard in CL but it sounds awful and electronic. Would really love a piano that's just smaller and sounds like the grand piano we already have.
  • I don't think those things by themselves would be enough for a stuff pack, and a free update with them would be really nice, but at this point I expect EA to want money for this stuff. In any case, if it were the "small stuff pack" or something along those lines, it could come with some clutter we've been lacking as well…
  • I honestly haven't played in Granite Falls in a while, so I'm not sure how those plants react to seasons. You say the starter plants are in season, but are the OR plants in season? That would be my guess as to why they're not growing. I would test visiting Granite Falls in each season to confirm that that isn't the issue…
  • I know it's taken me forever, but I've updated the challenge for Get Famous, along with some other general updates. Change Log (1/7/19) Update for Get Famous and game version 1.48 * I am reverting the rule added in the last update that disallowed the use of crafted toilets and bathtubs in the Prehistoric Era. -While this…
  • I haven't updated for Get Famous yet because I didn't want to do too many updates at once, especially since I'm thinking of revamping it more entirely. From what I've played of Get Famous, the fame system with the paparazzi and Sims taking photos of you all the time would be fairly intrusive in this challenge, I think.…
  • Unfortunately pet illnesses in the early eras of this challenge are largely untested. I haven't had my pets get sick all that often on my other saves, so I don't know the ins and outs of the illness system for pets. If it's really a problem, then you can buy/use the station that lets you make treats. I don't think the…
  • I also find the collectibles goal in Early Civilization to be extremely easy--by saving one of each fish and plant, I'm usually well over halfway there before I'm even done with the Prehistoric Era. I think it could be tweaked, or changed to a different goal altogether. In all honesty, I haven't played all the way through…
  • Important Announcement!! In case anyone wasn't aware, there is currently a bug in the game that will cause Sims to rapidly age while you are in CAS. It will age vampires, and will even age your Sims with aging turned off. I'm hoping this bug will be fixed early this week, and wouldn't recommend playing any of your main…
  • Hey! Yes, outdoor enthusiast is allowed as an aspiration and since it requires almost everything to be done in Granite Falls, you're free to travel there any time. I would recommend getting as much of that aspiration's requirements in Granite Falls done early though, as last time I checked your garden at home will die if…
  • Hi, and welcome to the challenge! When it comes to selecting a starting world, it doesn't matter. Your Sims are free to travel to different worlds as needed, so the word size isn't important. The rules say to pick a large lot for your challenge lot--this is just to give you plenty of room to build as you're not allowed to…
