50 things I would like to see in the Sims 3

With all the great things coming in Supernatural and Seasons, many of which were on previous wish lists of mine, I thought it was time to reassess what I would like to see in the game before it comes to an end in the not too distant future. Some of these items are old ideas from previous expansion packs, a few are new ideas I have seen listed elsewhere, and some are ones I came up with on my own. Most are feasible, a few are unlikely, but I still hope that the developers consider putting each and every idea in. After all, the heart wants what the heart wants. :D

So without further ado, my top 50 wishes:
1) Pottery wheel
2) Sewing machine
3) A knitting/crocheting skill
4) Bearskin rug with romantic interactions – including woohoo
5) Curved stairs, like form the Sims 1
6) The large square tub from Sims 1
7) More harvestables – including lemons, oranges, cucumbers and strawberries
8) A jewelry making skill bench
9) The return of owning our own businesses (unlikely, I know)
10) True family vacations (unlikely, I know)
11) The Spinning Wheel from Sims 1 – event if it is only a prop
12) The baking oven from Sims 1
13) A hip/modern cowboy hat, with a long-haired version for the guys and girls both
14) More facial hair for adults and teen males, especially some improved moustaches and goatees
15) The Family Kiss to return
16) Bathing babies and toddlers again
17) The violin
18) Basketball hoop
19) Volleyball net (could double as badminton, too!)
20) The car restoration kit
21) Poker table
22) Family games, like Mah Jong and Don’t Wake the Llama, Charades (like in Sims 1), Checkers, etc.
23) The stage level from Sims 2 so we can have split levels again
24) Glass Walls and floors, including glass brick walls
25) Skylights
26) Greenhouses
27) The massage table as a skill item
28) Tai Chi and Yoga
29) Punching Bag
30) Handheld video games for kids
31) More interactions for toddlers with every member of the family, including other toddlers
32) More careers – law, financial, computers/video game design, circus, veterinarian, fashion designer/model, oceanographer, psychologist, anthropologist/archeologist, etc.
33) “Average joe” careers – mechanics, factory workers, garbage man, construction worker, etc. – jobs that aren’t going to make Sims wealthy but comfortable.
34) Boats (motor and row/canoe/kayak) and houseboats
35) Misfortunes that will make our sims lives harder – lay-offs, natural disasters that require sims to repair homes or even rebuild, stock market crashes that wipe out sims’ savings, sudden deaths from mystery illnesses, locusts attacking crops, etc. Our sims have it too easy much of the time.
36) Better long hair for men, including a better ponytail
37) More accessories – pearls for women, puca shell necklaces for all, leather studded collars for punk men and women, more eyeglasses styles, scraves that you can add to outfits, suspenders for men, more earrings for both sexes (including a single hoop earring for men).
38) Piercings
39) A convertible car
40) Jump rope for fun and exercise for children through elders
41) Open Restaurants and Shops (unlikely at this point, but still want it)
42) Animal heads (fake, of course) for our dens and cabins – Moose, Buck, Bear, Big Cats, Rhino, Antelope
43) Mounted sailfish/swordfish as a wall decoration
44) Decorative gun cabinet for our rustic cabins
45) A deck of cards object that can be used to play a variety of games, including Go Fish and War for children.
46) Roulette and Craps for our casinos
47) Furniture making/woodworking skill set
48) Toymaking bench
49) Turn-ons and turn-offs
50) A slider for the butt – from flat to big ol’ *****

And if I had to be greedy
51) Pet monkeys
52) Pet owls
53) Archery skill and target

1.Option to set parties and plan vacations several days in advance.

2.Ability to swim not only at the beach but in lakes and fishing holes.

    3. Ability to purchase or rent a boat/canoe and then go out on lakes and at the beach. Can also fish from a boat.

4.Sims can engage in party or group games like Charades, Musical Chairs, Pin the Tail on the Llama, Marco Polo, Blind Man’s Bluff, Myshuno (Bingo), and Spin the Bottle.

5.Young Adult Sims and older can go to the city hall to get married.
    6. Journalist Sims can now leave the office to go on both local and foreign assignments (taking photos, interviewing Sims, researching facts or following a tip, etc.)

    7. A Sim who is a celebrity can now lose fame points/starpower due to scandals, failures at work, or from failing an opportunity. A celebrity Sim can also choose to “retire from the limelight” if he or she has accidently become a celebrity or who has tired of a lifestyle of the rich and famous.

    8. Self-employed authors who are very successful can host book signings at the bookstore.

    9. Sims in the Science career or Sims who come into contact with Tiberium have a chance of developing super powers that can be used for good (or evil ). Superpowers range from high strength (high or maxed out Body skill) high stamina (energy depletes very slowly), super speed, super hearing (can pick up messages about crimes and problems in action) and flight, and a Sim can even take up an alter identity as a superhero.

    10. Babies and toddlers can be talked to, or made a silly face by any Sim older than them (or sometimes in a toddler’s case by another toddler) as well as be cuddled, tickled, given piggyback/horsie rides, tossed in the air, play peek-a-boo and play in the swing (both the kind found in a playground and the ones used in homes).

    11. Parents and or grandparents can opt to invite (or hire) a trusted Sim Teen or older (with or without family ties to the baby/tot) over to their house to babysit.

    12. Child and Toddler Sims can have nightmares which upon waking up can prompt a “Scared of monster under the bed/in closet” moodlet. Toddlers and children can go to any Sim Teen or older for comfort, and the older Sim can persuade the toddler that there is nothing scary under their bed/crib, though Evil, Inappropriate, and Dislikes Children Sims can - if they chose to – actually make the problem worse…

    13. Ability for Sims Child and older to purchase new video games for the console and computer and to buy a portable game system (think Nintendo DS or PSP styled). Games could be a nod towards older Sim games like SimCity, SimAnt, SimTown, etc…

    14. Ability to play instruments. Seriously, there should be not only an option for child Sims to play on instruments but to get enrolled in music lessons if they or their parents/grandparents choose to (anyone remembering the “dreaded” piano/violin lessons of their youth?)

    15. Child can develop crushes (“Puppy love”) and have relationships with other children

    16. The ability to have different types of residential lots, namely multiple dwelling lots, like duplexe, boarding houses and retirement homes should be considered.

    17. Sims should finally have the option to move to and visit Sims in other neighborhoods. This is perfect for neighborhoods that are running out of space or for players who want to have one town (which is more suburban or maybe even rural interact with a neighborhood that is urban).

18.Children Sims can use rollerblades and skateboards to navigate throughout the town.

    19. Sims can try their luck and buy lotto tickets or enter into a sweepstakes contest. Lucky Sims obviously are more likely to win than the average Sim and Unlucky Sims are at a disadvantage from all other Sims. Prizes range from Simoleans, to all expense paid trips, to the more expensive objects you can purchase from Buy Mode and rare objects that can’t be acquired anywhere else.

    20. New parties: Baby shower party, class reunion party (for Sims who graduated from boarding school/public school/private school or college), family reunion party, and a retirement party for Elder Sims who have retired from their jobs can throw a retirement party where close friends, old co-workers and bosses and family can praise the retiree for a good job done and to wish them well in their golden years.
    21. New rabbitholes and community lots such as hotels, event halls, casinos, amusement parks, elementary school, high school, private school (for Children and Teen Sims with very high grades or who are the children of Bookworm, Snob, Diva or Celebrity Sims) community college (Young Adults, Adults and Elders can enroll in day, afternoon, evening or even online classes), veterinary hospital/animal shelter, modeling agency, bank, bakery, and courthouse
    22. New careers and professions such as Animal Care, Caterer, Law, Mail Carrier/Courier, Modeling, Repair Tech, Banking, Superhero, and Part Time Careers at the diner, bistro, theater, hospital, and office for Teens, Young Adults, Adults & Elders.
    23. Casino Themed objects including slot machine, roulette table, poker table, big money wheel, craps table and casino cage where Sims can cash in. Can also find new bars, buffet tables, chairs, tables, wallpapers and other décor to match the new themes.

    24. Amusement Park/Carnival Themed including bumper cars ride, ferris wheel ride, tunnel of love ride, roller coasters (like the ones in Makin Magic), merry-go-round ride, balloon and darts game, shooting gallery, ring toss game strong man/strength tester game, turnstile, ticket booth, port a potties, candy and deserts cart, drinks stand, food stand, ice cream stand and a food stand for vegetarians

    25. Sports and Outdoor Themed objects such as a volleyball net/court, beach balls, basketball court/hoop, baseball diamond, porch/garden swing, hammock, kiddie rides (the ones you sometimes see in front of grocery stores), outhouses (for your rustic Sims), queue lines (for rides)

    26. Toys & Entertainment: Etch a Sketch (toddlers and children can build painting skill), playdoh (toddlers and children can build sculpting skill), kites, jacks-in-a-box, portable video games, trikes for toddlers.

    27. Vacation themed objects such as rental shacks (to rent boats, canoes, bows and quivers, picnic baskets), campfire pit, archery targets, wishing shrine, Fountain of Youth,
    28. Playpens for toddlers. Comes in three models; one low quality – high chance for toddlers to escape from, one average quality – medium chance for toddlers to escape and one high quality – low chance of toddlers breaking loose. Older Sims can also add skill building toys or toys found in the toy box for toddlers to use.
    29. Strollers and carriages that can accommodate families that have twins or triplets.

    30. New World Adventure/Vacation Worlds such as Simkapu Island, Hawaii (A tropical paradise where Sims can lounge, play on the beach or have a romantic rendezvous), the Simion Rainforest, Brazil (adventurous and daredevil Sims flock to the Simion Rainforest in hopes of finding the lost city of El Goopardo and its bountiful treasures like the Fountain of Youth and priceless gems and coins.), and Simskatchewan, Canada (A mountain/forest hideway where Sim can really rough it in the great outdoors. Activities such as fishing, hiking, animal watching and camping are greatly favored here.)

    31. Additional NPCS such as Caterers to hire for your parties, event planners to help organize your parties, animal trainer for your dogs, cats and horses, and the con artist who will try and cheat your Sim at a carnival game or casino game or trick your Sim out of their Simoleans or a special object currently in their inventory.
    32. Sims can suffer from sprained or broken legs/arms, toothaches, stomachaches and headaches and Sims can venture to the hospital for treatment. Certain activities and the ability to visit other Sims and/or certain lots will also be off limits until the Sim is better (ie: a Sim with a broken leg would probably miss a few days of work and/or school.
    33. The return of Turn-ons and turn offs for Sims. In addition to physical and occult traits, Sims can be attracted to (or repelled by) the different mental, social and lifestyle traits in the game.

    34. There is a certain chance than those of the criminal career path may attempt a bank robbery. They may either get away scot-free or are thwarted by an onsite Brave or Disciplined Sim, the police or if EA adds this feature - the local superhero.

    35-49.NEW TRAITS :

Description: Mellow and calm, these Sims know how to keep a clear head in the midst of an emergency and are less susceptible to negative moodlets. Such Sims are also more tolerant of other Sims’ quirks and of occult Sims and Simbots.
Unique Features: Conflicts with many ‘extreme-like’ traits such as Hot-Headed, Over-Emotional, Excitable, etc

    Devoted
Description: Not many are lucky enough to say they have someone who always has their back. Therefore Devoted Sims are a rare treasure since they value their relationships with their friends and loved ones more than life itself.

    Macabre:
Description: These sims love all things dark, mysterious and somber.

Shortcomings: Very hard to convince a Slacker Sim to Power Work/Word Hard at school or at work. Slacker Sims will complain if told to do chores (ie: clean something)
Unique Features: Conflicts with Workaholic and Disciplined traits.

    Techie
Description: These Sims love all things electronics and receive a greater mood boost from owning or interacting with any kind of electronic device or gizmo

    Unique Features: Conflicts with Technophobe.

    Zealot:
Description: Overly conservative and fussy, these Sims cringe at the thought of 'Sims behaving badly' and are quick to scold and punish any ne'er do wells.
Shortcomings: Many other Sims with conflicting traits (see below) feel ill at ease around a zealot. Zealots are prone to nag and scold other Sims.
Unique Features: Conflicts with Rebellious, Flirty or Party Animal traits. Will avoid bars and clubs and beach lots. These Sims freak out when others skinny dip, fight, public woo-hoo, kiss or make out, are dressed inappropriately or wear swimsuits and pajamas in public.

Ironically, I CANNOT think of a 50th. Go figure.

Spiral stairs came with TS3: GEN
We have a bake oven for kids and a stove and oven for adults...
And with TS3: AMB, if you bought the cash register you could sell stuff. http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/ambitions/consignment.php
And with TS3: WA, you could create open restauraunts, and open shops with consignment registers form TS3: WA or TS3: AMB.
Stage levels are either platforms or decks or foundation for TS3, platforms are the best for stages.

And I would LOVE the bearskin rug. With romantic interactions so you can WooHoo by the fireplace or just make out almost nude. :3

Awesome ideas! I put mine on a previous thread which got buried so here it is again!

    My personal wishlist would be

Better functioning launcher, searchable (even if this means clicking the column headers to group things together better...eg all shoes in one block, just to find things quicker. It's awful at present)

Following on from that, the ability to delete unwanted items in CAS as in Sims 2...also to delete patterns within CAS as well. It's very tedious at the moment.

Selecting what memories are saved (I have the mod but it should be in options)

    Modelling career

New CAS Make ups for those who don't use CC

New jewellry and accessories and accessories hats scarves etc rather than set hair + accessory combinations. (again for those who don't use CC)

Variety in musical instruments, maybe some saxaphones, flutes, steel drums, harps etc (there aren't any wind instruments yet for example)

Kids being able to play music together with more variety... how about recorders for schoolkids?

A lot more grow-able/ harvestable flowers for perfumes, beauty products and florist /wedding planner careers.

Open restaurants with chef/waiting staff npcs, new foods etc, different restaurant themes, booths and so on

Definately farming and livestock, would love my sims to keep chickens/llamas/pigs/cows

    Farmers market

Freetime style crafts like car restoration, sewing toys and clothes for gifts, knitting, jewellry making (eg collecting shells and using gems to make beads for wearable gifts)

Open spa so , gathering plants and flowers to make face packs and beauty treatments, massage tables / hotrock treatments, steam cabinets, tanning tables etc

Kids can watch shows, join in more with activities

    Campfire songs

Group and family activies, tennis, basketball hoop, volleyball

Vending machines for snack bars etc

Making funfair rides (similar to makin magic ones)

Ability to run your own business eg a little shop to sell what you make (rather than selling at the consignment store)

More stuff for the neglected age groups in terms of CAS and Interactive objects.

    Roundabout for playparks

Toddler and baby social building stuff, ball pits and soft play tunnels etc

Babies social to go up when being held

    Puppet show booths

Bunnies!! and more wild animals in general

Baby bouncy chairs with toys & Baby floor playmats (stop abandoning babies on the floor!!!)

You misunderstand me. I know we have Spiral Staircases, what I am asking for is curved staircases, like we had in Sims 1. These were full sized staircases, but instead of going straigt up or down, they gently curved so they became almost a semi-circle. They took up a good chunk of space, but they were awesome for making grand staircases, and I believe you could place a chair or plant in the horshoe-ish opening made by the staircase. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of what I am talking about, but hopefully some of the Sims 3 team knows what I am referring to.
Also, I know we can bake in the ovens we have know, but the oven I am referring to came from Sims 1: Makin Magic - it was a rustic looking/Tuscan looking bake oven.
And CasaNova, LOVE so many of your ideas!

    loom and spinning wheel

home theater room seating w/cup holders like at a real theater.

    more skin colors

    more casino items

a dance dance revolution type video game

a video game console with a gun shooter perferable western style

    a brick pizza oven

ablity to make raised roof rooms so i could put the climbing wall in my gym.

external program: a t-shirt maker. lets you put a design on the front and back of a plain T-shirt.

I love playing TS3. I think its really fun but in my eyes i think there could be a bunch of improvements for TS3.

To begin in general I think the appearance of sims should change for example:
    1. The option to choose height for all age groups.
    2. Allow people to have really large eyes or tiny eyes.
    3. Two different eye colors in one eye or each eye a different color.
    4. The ability to have more of a choice for the size of specific body parts.
    5. Hair should look for realistic. It should flow and move, rather than stick up in the air.
    6. Also hair should come in more styles, ie - curly/wave, afros, braids, long ponytails or short ones, sloppy buns, dreadlocks, twists, etc. Also we should be able to adjust the length.
    7. More options for lipsticks, eye shadows, and any other types of makeup.
    8. More tattoo designs and the ability to place them anywhere.
    9. The ability to have body piercing anywhere such as, bellybutton, ear, eyebrow, cheeks, lip, tongue.
*** I love clothes so the next couple points are going to be about improvements to the sims fashion***
    - Should be the ability to have a wardrobe and outfits change daily.
    - Jewelry shouldn't come attached to outfits. It should not look painted on. There should be a separate category for jewelry as well providing more options.
    - On the subject of accessories, purses, backpacks, pet carriers, caps, hats, scarfs, belts, etc. should be available.
    - Shoes should have more sneakers, heels, sandals, socks (with funky patterns, maybe even mix matched). I think they should be based on real life shoes and high end fashion if possible.
    - Nails on hands and feet should be able to be painted and look different for both men and women.
    - clothes should come in more colors and options with more flavor. There should be more fashion risks and daring choices to choose from. Teen options should really look like something actually teenagers would wear. Toddlers need better clothing options and more of them, that can reflect who they are and having fun.
    - Allow the ability to layer clothing.
More fashionable clothing for pregnant sims, and more options to choose from.. just because they are pregnant doesn't mean they have to look ugly--
** Any sim that goes to school could wear a backpack that suits their again. ladies could use a big purse that carries their books etc****

** More interesting traits available and the ability to choose more of them.***
    Family Relationships:
    - there should be cousins, grandparents, godparents, godsiblings, aunts, uncles, etc. Adults should be able to be parents to young adults. Young adults be parents to teens. As well as teenagers should be able to be teen parents, it is something that happens in real life and should also happen in the game.

    Improvements about Age Groups:

Infants - 24/7 they live in blankets... BORING. they should be able to be dressed in cute outfits, shoes, and accessories. there should be playpens or playyards for the to nap in. bouncers, play mats, rockers, and various other toys for them to play with. Teens, Young Adults, and adults should be able to carry babies in front carriers or wrap carriers. Diapers should be disposable. Parents should be able to rock the infant (or toddler) to sleep in a rocking chair while singing or reading to them. there should be baby monitors. Infants (and toddlers) should be able to be given a bath and go swimming with parents (in a class or freely). Car seats should be put in cars for infants and toddlers.

Toddler - they should be able to be sent to preschool in-order to prepare them for the rest of their school years. Daycare could also be a place to send them on the weekends to learn more skills and social development. Toddlers should be able to go on playdates. Parents of toddlers can sign them up for different activities and lessons, such as pottery, swimming, etc. More toys that are age appropriate.

Child - There should be an option of what school in town to send them to. Maybe school could possibly have a uniform. Maybe there should be a break between different school levels that resembles summer breaks. Summer camps and other programs could happen during this period for them to just have fun.More toys and fun things for them to do in their spare time.

Teen - They should be able to take drivers ed and do other things to prepare them for life after high school. More options for part time jobs in town and internships. Some examples are dog walker, babysitting, working in a mall or store etc. They should also have the some of the responsibilities of adults. They should be able to be teen parents and choose whether to give up for adoption or keep the baby. After getting a license they should be able to drive and buy a car.

Young Adults - Since they aren't teens anymore they should have the options of going to college or going straight into getting a real job.

++ I think pregnant sims should have more things and activities to do when pregnant to prepare for the baby. More than just reading a book.
****these are all the improvements for the different ages****

    In-Town Improvements:
    - There should be more sims in the town walking around and driving
    - there should be more stores such as clothing stores, more restaurants (maybe fast food restaurants, drive through), shoes stores, bakery, etc.
    - More places to interact with such as youth centers, teen clubs, library, parks, playgrounds, hiking.
    - There should be the ability to swim or surf the water at the beach. Family picnics in the sand or make sand castles.
    - More part time jobs available.
    - Carnivals, Fairs, amusement parks, etc
    - There should be a mall, filled with pet store, Fashion stores, baby store, etc. and areas for people to hang out.
    - Better apartment living, with more tenants
    - We should ave the ability to go into stores, malls, restaurants, and the hospital with our sims
++ When sims are giving birth in the hospital we should be able to go in as well and have an experience of like would have in real life (& Sims should be able to plan and have a baby shower when pregnant. Allowing them to give and receive gifts from friends and family).++
-- Families can take family trips such as cruises or a flight to another place.--
-- There should be the ability to plan events, outings, or vacation in advance and in more detail.--
*** there should be the ability to travel out of town to other areas via driving or airplane.***

    New Careers:
    - Model (for teens, young adults, or adults)
    - Fields involving Cosmetology
    - TV personality
    - Chef
    - Construction
    - Dancer
    - Trainer
    - Housewife
    - Maid

    Home Improvements:
    - there should be more usable supplies to clean the house with that actually works.
    - More appliances for the laundry room.
    - there should be dresser sets for bed rooms and more options for them.
    - for kids beds there should be more options and variety that are fun and playful.
    - There should be changing tables for toddlers and infants and more options for cribs.
    - Wall covering should have for options that don't have a bunch of designs and are just regular colors. MORE color options as well.
    - Houses in general should look for modern and homey.

These are all the improvements I think there should be. I hope to see them in TS3.

    1-23 yes
    24 ehhhh
    25-34 yes
    35 not feeling natural disasters
    36-53 yes

Like most of the ideas in this thread.
