Hippies and voluntary simplicity

I thought it would be interesting to introduce, in a new expansion pack, the ability to create Hippies Sims. There may be new traits such as "voluntary simplicity" (Sims who have this trait must live with few resources and few items), new actions like "meditation", alone or with a group, etc). Being a Hippie could become a profession (bringing people together, creating community gardens, do activism at the Town Hall, to be a farmer, etc).

I found the idea interesting, it follows the character traits "Eco-Friendly" and "Vegetarian".

The Sims could relive 1960's free love! :)

I like it! I think they'd need to fix no-jealousy which they borked with the romantic rep control panel to make them 'free love'

But I also think they should have some other traits:

    anti-establishment
    free-spirited
    open relationship

    Possibly add career:

    folk singer
    green science

Oh wow, I love these ideas! I love hippies :)

I agree, the rep and jealousy should be fixed.

Could there be other "groups" as well, sort of of like the Sims 2 teen stuff pack? Goths, hippies, nerds etc. The kind of people Twallan make in his mods.

    Happy simming :)

They should also have a 'sustainable living' item set, which includes recylced items and things like composter!

I really like the idea of hippies... there are so many possibilities! You could even buy a big piece of property and invite other Hippie Sims to join your "commune"!

You can have all of them, one group alone couldn't possibly represent the '60s. While we're at it, I'd add mods (modernists).

No matter how much I like this idea, I find it very hard to imagine people like these being anywhere close to compatible with commercialism ... Pete Townshend included ... It would be pretty ironic at its best ...

Anyway, I'd suggest to simmers interested in this to see the Woodstock movie and maybe pull some ideas from it.

I know, so did mods, but that's not the point.

If people want the '60s back, first they should answer - pre-1965 (beatniks and mods) that started "who knows when", 1965 - 1967, 1967 - 1969 (Monterey - Altamont) or 1969 - 1977? I guess it's the 1967+ most of them have in mind ...

I'd like to see them take that idea even farther and introduce different "social classes." So you could live the life of a vagrant, or at the opposite end, an elitist snob, while the hippies and such would be somewhere in between.

Different classes would have access to different interactions, careers, clothes, traits, and so on. Towns would also be organized roughly according to social class.

This would unlock interesting new gameplay, because you could start out as low class and then gradually try to work your way up to a higher class. And you could attempt to jump ahead to a different class by, for example, splurging on a really expensive set of clothes (and hoping that no one notices you're actually just a vagrant in disguise). ;)

They started doing this with Apartment Life in TS2, and I think if they really expand the idea it could be very interesting.
